Things started out like a fairy tale, after graduating from High school Blaine Anderson was on top of the world he was unstoppable. He graduated valedictorian, he had a scholarship to study music at NYU, and his high school sweetheart Kurt Hummel had accepted his marriage proposal, their wedding was to take place one week after graduation. In Blaine's mind a life with Kurt equaled a life of enchantment and for a while that held true. Their wedding was a small affair that took place in central park, with a wedding reception at Kurt and Rachel's apartment. However none of that mattered to Blaine all that mattered was that Kurt was finally his forever.
Kurt and Blaine eventually moved in to a small apartment together. Kurt would split his days between taking classes at NYADA and working at vogue. Com. While Blaine spent his days studying at NYU and playing at local clubs. Life was perfect; when they weren't working the two newlyweds would spend quite evening at home softly singling along to movie musicals while curled up together on the couch. Those evening usually ended in the bedroom where they would spend hours exploring each other's bodies.
The thing with fairytales is that eventually they end and what comes after the happily ever after is not always so happy after all. Things started going south for the boys once Kurt's career took of like a rocket heading straight for the stars. Within a year of working at Vogue dot Com Kurt managed to catch the attention of vogue magazine editor in chief Anna wintour. This lead to a dream job at Vogue, where Kurt's talents quickly propelled him up the ranks until he became the creative director of Vogue magazine. His job was to oversee the visual aspects of the magazine, which included coming up with the concepts for the magazine covers and helping direct the photo-shoots. For Kurt this was a dream come true. It seemed Kurt was still living his life within the magical confines of his very own fairytale.
Things were not so magical for Blaine who could not help but to look upon Kurt with envy. When he had envisioned their life in New York he had imagined perhaps naively the two of them conquering the world together. Now it seemed that Kurt was well on his way of achieve this while Blaine was left behind in the dust. 5 years after moving to New York Blaine who had graduated NYU was still struggling, he found it difficult to even get gigs at local venues. Blaine now spent his days working at a local coffee shop in order to save up enough money to record his own demo. Kurt had offered to pay for it but Blaine wanted to do things on his own. For Blaine the fairytale he envisioned had long died out, the only remnants being Kurt. Kurt was his world and always would be. When Blaine wasn't out pursuing a dream that seemed to move farther out of reach everyday Blaine was dedicating himself to being the best husband he could possible be. This included cooking dinners for Kurt, giving him neck rubs after a hard day and accompanying him to work parties basically it meant just being there for Kurt whenever he needed anything at all.
All of this went largely unnoticed by Kurt who seemed to be getting busier every day. Blaine felt underappreciated as well as jealousy over the ease in which Kurt had climbed to the top. All of this combined to turn the once happy go lucky Blaine into an insecure mess. During the first couple of year Blaine had been sure success would come to him just like it had to Kurt, he was sure it was lurking just around the corner. However when his status remained unchanged year after year he began to doubt his own abilities maybe he was not as talented as he had been lead to believe. The fact that Kurt who was usually Blaine's rock was spending less and less time paying any attention to him only made matters worse. Blaine was beginning to wonder if maybe he had been Kurt's teenage dream but not his adult one. He started thinking that Kurt deserved better, he deserved a handsome husband who was a big shot lawyer or a fashion designer someone that was worthy of him and not some waitressing hobbit.
Blaine never once entertained the idea of mentioning any of this to Kurt. The days in which Kurt had time off was scarce but when he did have time off the two of them would spend their days curled up on the couch together like they had in the beginning. During these precious moments insecurities and jealousy were the furthest thing from Blaine's mind. Even if they were on his mind Blaine would never waste the few moments he had alone with Kurt on such matters. Therefore he suffered in silence but it would only be a matter of time before he would reach his breaking point.
