Author's Notes: Chapter 9 up! Hopefully i can finish chapter 10 and upload it by tomorrow morning! Oh, and just in case if you hadn't already noticed, I am pretending that Kurt never transferred back, but instead stayed at Dalton.
Blaine was drifting in and out of sleep. He could feel something shaking. When Blaine realized he was asleep, he jolted himself awake, still foggy. Kurt was shaking violently on the bed. Blaine quickly ran to the door, just as his monitor began to beep uncontrollably.
"Help! Someone..help!" Blaine yelled, his voice cracking. He ran back to Kurt in panic, trying to think of what to do to help him. He tried to hold onto Kurt’s good arm.
Doctors and nurses ran into the room, pushing Blaine away. He stood behind them, his hand had somehow moved up to cover my mouth as he watched. They moved quickly around Kurt and it felt as if Blaine was watching a blur. A nurse noticed Blaine and escorted him out to the hall, closing the door.
First, Blaine paced. He paced until his legs hurt. Up and down the hallway, staring at the little bits he could see through the window of the hospital room until the blinds were closed. Then he sat, against the wall. His head in his arms thinking about all the "What if's", until Blaine finally decided to call Burt.
"Hello?" it was Finn.
"Uh.. Finn? K-Kurt.." Blaine realized how much harder it was talking about what had just happened then thinking about it, "I..He-uh."
"Blaine? What's going on? Is everything okay?" Finn sounded worried.
"No," was all Blaine could gather up to say. He could hear Finn grabbing car keys and rummaging around. Blaine kept the phone glued to his ear so hard that it almost hurt. He could hear Finn telling Burt that they all had to go to the hospital as calmly as he could. Blaine sat there, concentrating on the sounds from the other end, because they were the only thing keeping him sane.
"Blaine? We're on our way, okay?" Finn said, as the sound of car doors was muffled into the phone. "But, I'm going to stay on the phone with you, okay?"
"K-kay," Blaine let out in a light sigh.
He knew what the Hummels must have been thinking from my phone call. They must have though Kurt was dead.
"Finn?" Blaine said in a shallow voice, "K-Kurt's.. still...a-alive."
"Is it bad?" Finn whispered into the phone, if Blaine hadn’t been clutching his phone so hard he probably wouldn't have heard it.
He breathed, calming himself and then talked back into the phone, "Seizure."
Finn and Blaine sat on the phone in silence. Blaine could hear the normal sounds of driving through the phone. He looked around the hospital. It was still dark outside, he wondered what time it was. The boy curled his legs up and let his head fall on his knees, still keeping his sanity close at his ear, listening to the silence of the Hummel's car ride.
Blaine closed my eyes and concentrated on his breathing, in, out, in. He could hear heavy footsteps heading toward him, and looked up to find the Hummels walking next to a doctor. Their faces each had it's own version of fear and tiresome on them. The doctor led them to where Blaine was waiting.
"Blaine," Finn said, sitting next to him, "Dude, I'm so sorry." Burt started pacing the hallway and Carole sat next to Finn, her head buried in her hand. Burt was mumbling something under his breathe as his walking quickened. Blaine wasn't sure whether he wanted to throw something, start crying, or both.
It felt as if they had been waiting for days, although it had been minutes, when the doctors finally emerged. All of them stood and clustered together, preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.
"Mr. Hummel?" The doctor spoke.
Blaine could feel the same tugging feeling from the day of the shooting. he felt as if he was about to drift away from his body. He bit his tongue, drawing blood, just to keep himself from passing out.
