Things were better between Blaine and Cooper after that. They talked every couple of days and even though Cooper drove Blaine a little crazy with his tips and advice (he even tried to give Blaine advice about his relationship with Kurt – Blaine had had to rush him off the phone because, no), he was still grateful that Cooper accepted him for who he was and wanted to be in Blaine’s life.

He and Cooper had discussed what Cooper would tell their parents. Blaine told him to tell them the truth: he was gay and nothing was going to change that. He was married, he was happy. They weren’t going to bring up the trust fund unless they had to. Blaine was worried his parents might try to and stop the funds from reaching him, but he was pretty sure they couldn’t actually do that. Cooper agreed but still promised Blaine he’d make sure they didn’t even try.

School started for Blaine and he dove head first into his classes. He was taking a little bit of everything – French, English, Math, and even a theater class. He knew Kurt was worried that he’d be overworked, but Blaine pointed out that he’d gone to Dalton and they had a much stricter academic program than McKinley had.

Kurt started his new job and he seemed to flourish there. Blaine had never seen him look happier (or more tired) when he came home. His hours seemed long, but then again, so were Blaine’s.

They didn’t talk about the change in their relationship.

Blaine thought about it a couple of times, even hinted at it in conversation, but every time he did, Kurt would clam up or change the subject.

Kurt very clearly did not want to discuss it, though for what reasons, Blaine couldn’t be sure.

Blaine knew Kurt had to have some kind of feelings for him or he wouldn’t kiss Blaine good morning or hello after they both got home. Kurt wouldn’t let Blaine’s hand roam all over his body after they went to bed (if they weren’t too exhausted – some nights they were asleep before anything could happen) if there wasn’t something more between them.

Rachel, though intense, spent a lot of time at their place. Blaine found her amusing, but a bit much at times. Still, she and Kurt were really close and it wasn’t surprising at all for Blaine to come home and find the two of them watching movies or Kurt helping Rachel rehearse for one of her classes. He’d even caught them dancing around the living room early on in the semester, as Rachel was freaking out about her dance teacher hating her.

“Honey, I’m home!” Blaine called out as he stepped into the apartment.

“Hi,” Kurt said softly, getting up to greet him with a soft kiss. Blaine wasn’t sure he’d ever get used to it and he kind of hoped he never did. He could see Rachel on the couch, tear streaks on her cheeks and a crumpled tissue in her hands.

“What’s going on?” Blaine asked quietly.

“Some girls at school made fun of me,” Rachel answered. “I’m tired of feeling like I’m in high school, because apparently I’m still dressing like it.”

“I was just telling her that we can fix it,” Kurt replied. “Rachel Berry is getting a Kurt Hummel make over.”

“Right now?” Blaine asked. He was thinking about the paper he should probably start researching.

“Of course!” Kurt exclaimed. “Rachel and I are going to pop down to the Vogue offices and make some magic.” He glanced at Blaine coyly. “You should come.”

Blaine’s mouth fell open a little. All thoughts of his paper flew out of his head. “Yeah, okay.”

Kurt bounced excitedly, clapping his hands lightly.

“Well,” Kurt said, leading Blaine and Rachel inside. “This is it!”

He could see them taking in the spacious and tastefully decorated lobby as he swiped his card and led them back to the wardrobe dept. They had just walked in and started looking around when Isabelle’s voice rang out behind them.

“Stop right there!”

“Isabelle!” Kurt squeaked. He hoped he wouldn’t get in trouble for this.

“Oh, Kurt, it’s you,” Isabelle said. She dismissed the security guards with her and stepped into the room. “I thought you went home.”

“I did,” Kurt told her, “but my friend here,” he tugged on Rachel’s arm, “needs a makeover. And I thought – what better place to do that than Vogue?”

Isabelle smiled. “Of course,” she agreed. “Who’s the cutie?” she nodded her head at Blaine and Kurt blushed.

“Isabelle, this is my husband Blaine,” Kurt introduced. Blaine stepped forward and shook Isabelle’s hand. “And the one in desperate need of a makeover is Rachel.”

“Isabelle Wright,” Isabelle greeted, shaking Rachel’s hand after Blaine’s. “Now.” She smiled. “Let’s get started.”

“He had me so convinced that Finn wanted a girl who showed a lot of skin,” Rachel laughed. “I was so gullible back then.”

Blaine smiled, listening to Kurt and Rachel share stories. The makeover had gone well, inspiring Kurt to create a video about it for the website. He was planning on showing Isabelle in the morning. For now, they were celebrating Rachel’s new look.

“Oh, come on. I was fifteen and Finn was hot,” Kurt muttered. “I was desperate.”

“I thought Finn was straight,” Blaine interrupted, staring at Kurt.

Rachel giggled and Kurt turned several shades of red “He is.” He covered his face with his hands. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

“I forgave him… eventually,” Rachel continued the story.

“Yeah, when you moved on to Jesse St. James,” Kurt replied. Rachel groaned.

“No, we’re not going there!” she exclaimed.

“Wait,” Blaine interrupted. “The lead singer of Vocal Adrenaline?”

“You know him?” Rachel asked.

“We competed against him my sophomore year,” Blaine answered. “We got destroyed at Sectionals.”

Rachel stayed for one more drink and then said she had to get home for her beauty sleep.

Once she was gone, Kurt made himself busy cleaning up and putting the dishes in the sink.

“So, Finn, huh?” Blaine teased, leaning against the counter in the kitchen as Kurt worked. “Should I be jealous?”

“Hush,” Kurt muttered, turning red again. “It was a long time ago.”

“So you had no boyfriends at all in high school?” Blaine wanted to know. Kurt kept so much of that time to himself.

“No,” he answered, moving passed Blaine and down the hall. They’d started out with separate bedrooms when they’d moved in, but now they were merely a formality. Kurt kept his clothes and things in ‘his’ room, but Blaine was finding more and more that they were slowly moving into the master bedroom. He wondered if Kurt realized that and decided to keep it to himself.

“Come on, Kurt,” Blaine cajoled, as they went into the bedroom. Kurt selected a pair of pajamas before turning around to look at him. “You know my whole sordid dating history.” He’d dropped the story of his serenade to Jeremiah at the Gap one night over the summer, much to his embarrassment and Kurt’s enjoyment.

“There’s not much to tell,” Kurt muttered. “I sort of made out with one of the cheerleaders once – she was nice.”

“A girl?” Blaine gave him a surprised look. He hadn’t seen that coming.

“Other than that, there’s not much to say.” With that Kurt swept into the bathroom to change.

*

“I didn’t make you uncomfortable, did I?” Blaine asked.

“No,” Kurt answered, shifting his head on Blaine’s chest. He couldn’t really see Blaine very well in the dim light of the room. “High school was… difficult for me.”

He supposed that was an understatement, but no one really knew what he’d gone through. How Kurt had gotten through it, he had no idea.

“I know that feeling,” Blaine muttered.

“You had an idyllic high school experience, Blaine,” Kurt replied.

“I never told you about my freshman year?” Blaine asked, sitting up a little.

“No,” Kurt answered.

“Rumors were floating around school that I was gay,” Blaine murmured. “I didn’t know what to do. I was terrified to come out, but it didn’t matter; the kids tortured me anyway. I decided to go to the Sadie Hawkins dance with a friend of mine that was out, and I guess some of the jocks didn’t like that.”

“What do you mean?” Kurt wanted to know, his voice soft. He wasn’t sure he wanted Blaine to finish this story.

“These three guys just… beat the living crap out of us,” Blaine said quietly. “I never told my parents why. They ended up transferring me to Dalton.”

“I’m so sorry,” Kurt told him, feeling his word catching in his throat. “What I went through was nothing like that.”

“Do you want to tell me about it?” Blaine’s voice was hesitant.

“I... I don’t really know what to say,” Kurt finally whispered. “There was this guy, a football player.” He shuddered, remembering. “He was constantly harassing me: shoving me into the lockers, throwing slushies in my face, calling me names – no one did anything for a long time. Then… he… well, one of my friends got some dirt on him and blackmailed him into leaving me alone.”

“Kurt, that’s awful.” Blaine squeezed his arms tightly around him, and Kurt took a shaky breath. It was a long time ago and Kurt was safe with Blaine.

“I got through it,” Kurt said.

“Hey,” Blaine murmured. Kurt felt Blaine’s hand cup his chin and he rose up, propping himself on his hand so that he was looking Blaine in the eye. “You’re very brave, you know.”

“It didn’t feel like it at the time,” Kurt replied. The skin underneath Blaine’s hand was warm and tingling and Kurt could feel his heart rate speeding up. The air was charged around them, and Kurt barely had a second to catch his breath before Blaine’s lips were on his.

He never thought he’d get used to kissing someone else. Kurt had resigned himself to kissing being ruined for him. Ever since the day that he’d confronted his bully, Dave Karofsky, and it had ended with Karofsky’s lips on his, Kurt had had no interest in kissing or anything that came along with it.

Then Blaine happened and his lips were amazing, and he smelled good and he was so, so, great and Kurt wanted. He wanted Blaine in a way that he thought he’d never want anyone. He tended to forget everything else when Blaine kissed him and Blaine’s hands wandered.

Their moments of passion had mostly remained chaste. Kurt had instituted a “no hands south of the border” rule, but he was quickly finding himself frustrated by it.

Still, he knew himself and what he was ready for, and he didn’t think he was quite there yet.

Blaine didn’t seem to mind and that was an amazing, amazing thing.

Kurt lost himself in the kiss, relishing in the delicious slide of their lips together. Blaine pulled him closer and Kurt shifted so he was on his knees, his arms wound tight around Blaine’s neck, their tongues dueling (also something Kurt didn’t think he would enjoy but actually drove him insane).

Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt’s waist, holding him tightly. Kurt gasped when Blaine lifted him up, moving him so that he was straddling Blaine’s lap.

“This okay?” Blaine managed to get out between kisses.

“So okay,” Kurt panted as Blaine’s lips attacked his neck, nipping and sucking. Kurt’s fingers tangled into Blaine’s hair, loosening the stiff strands from their gel prison. He could feel everything, including Blaine’s hard cock nestled firmly against his own.

Kurt whimpered as Blaine sucked hard on the skin where his neck met his shoulder. He’d probably have a mark but he didn’t care. His hips shifted instinctively, moving against Blaine. Sparks shot down his spine and his fingernails scratched across Blaine’s cotton covered back. A startled cry escaped from Kurt’s mouth, swallowed almost immediately by Blaine’s lips covering his own.

He had no idea this could feel so good. Blaine apparently agreed, moaning loudly as Kurt continued rocking against him.

Blaine,” Kurt gasped out. He didn’t even know why he said it; just that he couldn’t explain the feelings overtaking him. There was desire and pleasure and trust, and it was all wrapped up in Blaine and Kurt had no idea how to express that.

“Wait,” Blaine gasped, his hands moving to Kurt’s hips and gripping them so Kurt stopped moving. “We should – we should stop.”

“You don’t want…” Kurt replied, confusion setting in. Blaine’s words washed over him like he’d been doused with a bucket of ice water.

Of course.

Blaine didn’t want him like that.

“No,” Blaine rushed to speak. “God, no, Kurt, of course I do.”

“Then why?”

“Didn’t you want to take this slow?” Blaine asked.

“Blaine?” Kurt gave him a look. “Shut up and kiss me.”

Blaine’s eyes widened in surprise, nearly lunging up to kiss Kurt once the words sank in. His hands gripped Kurt’s hips so tightly that Kurt wondered if he’d have bruises in the morning, urging Kurt faster and harder as they rocked together.

Their mouths were fused, little noises escaping from Kurt’s throat that he couldn’t stop. He trembled, his whole body shaking, but Kurt never stopped, grinding his cock against Blaine’s. His orgasm slammed into him, catching him by surprise. He cried out, freezing his movements, his back arching and his eyes rolling up into his head.

Oh, God,” Blaine groaned, thrusting up against him a final time before finding his release. Blaine slumped forward, his head resting on Kurt’s chest, arms around Kurt’s waist.

There had never been a more perfect moment in his whole life.
