Monday
"Everyone gone?" Blaine asked, coming behind Kurt in the kitchen. Kurt nodded.
"Dad's at the shop, Carole's got a shift, and Finn's running around with Puck getting last minute moving stuff like boxes and tape."
"So we're... alone?" Blaine repeated.
Kurt smirked. "I thought we were going shopping."
"We'll go shopping tomorrow," Blaine murmured, pulling him close and kissing him along his neck, just under his jaw.
"Yeah, okay," Kurt breathed out. "Shopping tomorrow."
Tuesday
"When you said shopping, I didn't think you meant this early," Blaine yawned while speaking, his words getting all muffled.
"Well, some of us got some sleep last night instead playing video games with Finn," Kurt replied, his tone pointed. "We'll have plenty of time for that in New York." He paused. "Besides, I figured the stores would be emptier the earlier we went and we wouldn't have to worry about crowds."
Blaine couldn't help but smile and kiss Kurt on the cheek. "I'm going to need some coffee then."
Wednesday
"I can't believe you guys are leaving," Tina murmured. "It won't be the same without you."
They were at a New Directions "Farewell" party and Blaine had never seen so many unhappy people in one place. Everyone was upset and it felt more like a funeral than a party.
"We'll write and email and call," Kurt promised. He'd been making that promise all night. "We won't forget where we came from." He hugged Tina. "You're in charge now," Kurt whispered and Tina's eyes welled up with tears. Blaine held out a tissue for her and she took it.
"Make us proud,' Kurt told her and Tina nodded. It's like that all around the room, until finally Finn calls them all together.
"A toast," Finn began, raising his cup. Everyone followed suit. "To us. The underdogs. The ones that everyone said would never be anything special." Finn looked around the room. "We proved them wrong and we're going to keep proving them wrong. To the future!"
"To the future!" everyone echoed, taking a sip. For a long moment, Blaine almost wished that things had been different, that he'd stayed in Ohio and met Kurt another way – if so, maybe he'd have known Kurt's friends or been a student at McKinley. Maybe he'd know this friendship they had better than an outsider looking in.
He took a sip of his drink and smiled as Kurt turned to him, tears on his face. Blaine took out another tissue and wiped them away gently.
Thursday
"What do you mean, 'you're still packing?'" Kurt snapped at Finn. "We leaving tomorrow, Finn. Tomorrow!"
"Relax, dude, it'll get done."
"It had better, or I will call Rachel."
"You wouldn't dare," Finn replied.
"Don't test me, Finn," Kurt muttered. Blaine just smiled – he'd better get used to this. Finn being their roommate would inevitably lead to more fights like this.
He joined Carole and Burt in the living room while the brothers went at it.
Friday
"That's the last of it," Kurt said in a quiet voice, staring at his Navigator. The moving truck had just pulled away from the curb, Finn behind the wheel and Rachel in the passenger's seat. She'd petitioned NYADA to let her move into the dorms early, her stuff packed into the van along with his and Finn's. Blaine's mother had packed and shipped his things the day he'd left for Ohio, subletting his penthouse while he was gone.
Carole and Burt had just exchanged tearful goodbye's with Finn and Rachel, so Blaine took a step back to let them talk to Kurt.
"I'm going to miss you so much," Kurt managed, hugging Carole. He took a deep breath. "I'd forgotten what it was like to have a mother until you reminded me."
"Oh, sweetie," Carole cried. Kurt moved to Burt next.
"I don't know how to say goodbye to you," he told his dad. Burt got misty eyed.
"You don't," Burt said simply. "We're family no matter how far apart we are. We've been through Hell and back and little distance won't change that." He glanced at Blaine. "That goes for you too."
Blaine blinked in surprise, and then found himself being hugged by both Carole and Burt.
Finally, it was time to go. They got in the Navigator, Kurt behind the wheel. He turned the car on and took a deep breath.
With a honk and a wave at Kurt's parents, they drove off to the future.
Comments
Awwwww <3 I seriously love these drabbles! Could you possibly do one showing how exactly Blaine's dad's change of heart came to be? It just seemed kind of sudden and out of the blue. I wanna know what inspired him to finally try to accept Blaine. Thanks :)
Thank you!!!Unfortunately, I'm not longer writing drabbles for this verse. Basically, though, Carl was afraid of losing Blaine, really losing him (and Blaine's mother had something to do with it too, plus another thing I don't want to give away in case I ever write the third fic). Thanks!
