He pushed that thought away though, focusing on other things – like the fact that Blaine was flying in for the weekend. His parents would be at a debate for most of the weekend, leaving after Kurt’s speech and coming back on Sunday afternoon, just in time to watch Kurt’s interview with Katie Couric. Apparently Mr. Schue still had an ‘in’ with her from an interview he’d done with her last year, and she’d agreed to interview Kurt.
Kurt got dressed, taking care with his outfit even more than usual. He flew through breakfast, hardly tasting it, and before long, he and Finn were headed out to his Navigator. He heard the telltale click of the camera and gave a wave in its general direction.
“Do you ever get used to them taking your picture?” Finn asked once they were in the car.
“Not really,” Kurt replied, “but I figure if they’re going to be following me around I should at least make nice.”
“You’re really smart, you know that?” Finn said. “I mean it. I really think you’re going to win this election and change things at school.”
“Thanks, Finn,” Kurt smiled, touched. “That means a lot.”
They pulled into the McKinley parking lot after a quick stop for coffee, and Kurt made his usual march to the outskirts of the lot where the paparazzi usually stood. Kurt had wondered if there would be less of them now that some time had passed, but attention from his father’s campaign had kept the photographers on his tail.
“Good morning!” Kurt greeted them, smiling as he handed the coffee over. “Make sure to get my good side.”
“Do you have a bad side?” one of the women in the group asked.
“That’s for me to know,” he teased, and they laughed.
“Good luck today,” she replied. Kurt blinked in surprise.
“Thanks,” he said, giving them another wave before going inside the school.
The day passed too fast for Kurt’s liking, every minute drawing nearer to his speech. He managed to avoid a slushie attempt just before lunch, snagging his food and heading out side with the rest of New Directions to eat since the weather was cool but nice. He’d just started picking at it when the music started.
Surprised, he turned his head to the stairs of the courtyard. Kurt’s mouth dropped open and his eyes widened in shock.
Blaine.
Blaine was dancing at the top of the steps, wearing McKinley colors and a pair of yellow sunglasses on his face. “It’s not unusual to be loved by anyone,” Blaine sang, and Kurt cracked up laughing. “It’s not unusual to have fun with anyone.” Blaine danced down the steps as he continued with the song. Kurt watched as Santana motioned with her fingers and the Cheerios came in as Blaine’s back up, dancing along with him.
“Oh, my God,” he managed, his face turning bright red. Blaine whipped his sunglasses off in his direction and Kurt caught them, moving so that he was perched on the table top. Santana ran up and joined Blaine when he hit the interlude and Kurt couldn’t believe it when the Cheerios produced signs that said “Vote for Kurt” on them.
“It’s not unusual to be mad with anyone,” Blaine kept singing, “It’s not unusual to be sad with anyone.” He moved down the stairs, twirling Santana when they reached the bottom, spinning her right into Brittany’s arms. Blaine headed for Kurt and Kurt grinned. “It’s not usual to find out I’m in love with you,” Blaine growled as Kurt got up and danced with him.
The song came to a close and the student body of McKinley cheered.
“You’re crazy, you know that, right?” Kurt shouted to be heard over the noise. Blaine gave him an endearing smile.
“But you love me!” he shouted back. Kurt threw himself into Blaine’s arms them, feeling Blaine’s arms slip around him, holding him tightly.
“I do, I really do,” Kurt murmured in his ear. “You weren’t even supposed to be here until tonight,” he said, letting go of Blaine and taking a seat at the table. Blaine slid in next to him.
“I wanted to do something to surprise you and help support your campaign,” he told Kurt.
“I would kiss you if we weren’t in the middle of the courtyard in front of the whole school,” Kurt sighed.
“Do it anyway.” Santana dropped into the seat across from them, Brittany joining her.
“You know we can’t,” Kurt muttered. The other members of New Directions had been watching their conversation without comment, and Kurt could feel their eyes burning.
“Oh, please,” Santana scoffed. “You two have kissed on national television. A school yard is nothing compared to that.”
“Wes and David are right over there.” Blaine gestured to his bodyguards standing by a few tables over. Kurt bit his lip and then pressed his lips to Blaine’s before he could change his mind.

Blaine zoned out most of the other candidate speeches. All he cared about was Kurt’s. He was sitting in the bleachers next to Finn and Kurt’s dad. Carole was at home, packing, so Burt was filming the whole thing for her. He knew the students were still staring at him. He hated that he drew so much attention, but hoped it would only benefit Kurt’s campaign.
“And now, our final candidate – Kurt Hummel!”
Kurt was met with some light applause as he launched into his speech. He talked about bullying and how it had affected him and others and how he wanted to change that at McKinley.
“I refuse to let anyone be bullied,” Kurt promised, meeting Blaine’s eyes. Blaine nodded at him slowly. “So please, if you’re ready for a safer McKinley, vote for me.”
More applause as Kurt’s speech finished. The principal dismissed them. The noise volume picked up as the students headed to the halls, and Kurt walked over to where his father, Finn and Blaine were standing.
“You were great, kiddo,” Burt said, pulling him in for a hug. “If you’re half that good on Sunday during your interview, I’ll have this election in the bag.”
“Thanks, Dad,” Kurt replied.
“I’m going to swing passed the house and get Carole,” Burt told them, pulling out his keys. “I’ll call you two when we get checked into the hotel.”
“Yeah,” Finn agreed. “I’ll be at Puck’s most likely.”
“Blaine and I will be at the house,” Kurt added.
Burt hugged them both, shook Blaine’s hand and then he was gone. “You ready to go?” Blaine asked Kurt. “I think Wes and David have their hands full.”
Kurt looked over to where Blaine was pointing. Sure enough, Wes and David looked to be keeping back a group of girls – the same ones that liked to hound Kurt about Blaine. “Just wave at them, sweetie, and let’s get out of here.”
Blaine threw a wave in the girls’ direction before taking Kurt’s hand. They walked hand-in-hand to the parking lot when they heard the shouting. The group of paparazzi that normally stood in wait for Kurt had caught sight of him and Blaine.
“Wanna give ‘em a show?” Blaine asked.
“What the hell,” Kurt agreed, leaning forward to kiss him.
“Get a room, fags!” one of the hockey players screamed from behind them. Blaine pulled away from Kurt, just in time to get a face full of ice cold slushie.
Comments
I am CERTAIN the appropriate response to a star like Blaine getting slushied is not to laugh hysterically. However, this is just what I did. Oops. Oh well. Wes and David are going to take care of the Hockey jerks, right? RIGHT?
LMAO. :D Yes, Wes and David kick ass and take names. Thank you!
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. oh god. two more days. i can wait ;-;
LOL! It had to be done. :D Thank you!
They slushied Blaine and it had to be right in from of the paparazzi! Oy! I'm assuming his "bodyguards" will take care of some certain jocks?! Great update, as usual. :)
Yep! :D Yes, Wes and David will be awesome. Thank you!
Heh, I like to keep you guessing! :DThanks!
I wasn't expecting an ending like that. Excited for what's to come :)
OMG! They slushied Blaine in front of the reporters???? Wow.........this was great!

Dead. I'm dead. I died. That was the most perfect ending EVER!!! I mean, not very good for Blaine, but for some reason I'm really excited about it :D What's Kurt gonna do? What's Blaine going to do? What about the paparazzi? Oh my God, I loved that ending! LOL (: I actually really liked this entire chapter and I can't wait for more.Update soon!
Wait! What?!??!?! How can you stop there!! Ugh not fair ]: This is amazing btw! So excited for the next chapter! Update soon!

I got so excited to write INU in, lol. Yes, it is terrible. But the jock will pay. Thanks!
Oh, hell. That's terrible...ugh. Although, Blaine singing that song in the story? Love.
LOL, thank you! :D
Hds wisjebdjus oh my goodness!!!! I can't wait to see how Kurt/Blaine/the reporters react to the slushy! Anticipation....
No - Kurt was touched that Blaine went to all that effort to help him out. Yeah, maybe in the back of his head that might be something he thought in passing. I look at it like this - he was willing to stuff the ballot box on the show to win. I think Blaine singing to help him out his pretty far below that on the extreme scale. :D Yes, it will help Burt's campaign. Awww, I still love ya! :D Thank you.
O.OI honestly thought that Kurt was going to be upset about Blaine singing! I thought he was going to be upset in the "I want them to vote for Kurt, not Blaine Anderson's boyfriend!" way, but there went that! :P I was right about the It's Not Unusual part, at least! :DOn a side note, is the slushie going to help Burt in his campaign? o.o Since he has a bullying platform and all?On ANOTHER side note, WOE IS ME THAT I AM NOT YOUR FIRST AGAIN! D': I'm going to go cry in the shower now!Yay, only two more days until the next review! :DYou're awesome. That is all.
Well, this is a normal slushie (not that that's much better, lol). Thanks! :D
omg now I'm like dying for the Michael episode an Blaine to get the rock salt in his eye that's horrible. awesome chapter!
OH SNAP. Pay no mind to the Disney-esque non-profanity. But I'm so excited for the next chapter, I don't know how I'll handle it. SLUSHIE.
LMAO. :D The next chapter picks up on Sunday, so we don't see what happens directly after, but there's a lot of media response. Thanks!
Man, it's going to kill me waiting 'till Wednesday.
LOL, one more day! :D Thanks!
Yep, LOL. Thanks!
Holy crud. RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PAPS. UHOH. Can't wait for more!
ohno, poor blaine... this is when kurt pulls him so close that none of the paparazzies can see his slushie filled face.
Even though I don't really show that part in the next chapter, that's totally what happened :DThanks!
I KNOW. At least this time, Blaine won't almost lose an eye. Thanks!
Oh god it was hard the FIRST time...

Are we speechless? :D

Goddamn hockey players!!!!! That ending made me mad!!! It's like whatever progress you make, a neanderthal has to take it two steps back! And all this in front of the paparazzi!!! Sigh...
Yeah, exactly. Thanks!
LOL! :D Thanks!
And now I see what Blaine and Santana were cooking up!!! :-) Can't wait to see how they handle the slushie attack, and the fact that they are left alone at the house for the weekend!!! (waggles my eyebrows!!! Lol)
NOOOOOO! :( Although the chapter was amazing... :D I loved it!
Oh my god- Oh my god! They did not just slushie Blaine in front of the cameras.
