ONE YEAR AGO TODAY, GUYS.

I can’t believe it’s been a year. I remember freaking out last year when I saw this, trying to figure out who Kurt was.

Do you guys remember the pictures? How someone as gorgeous as Kurt managed to evade photographers so well, I have no idea.

Kurt giggled as he scrolled through his Tumblr dashboard. His Tumblr wasn’t what it used to be, before Blaine. He was fairly quiet, didn’t post much of anything really. He just used the blog to follow the Dalton fandom and occasionally message Jeff. He and Blaine had officially met one year ago today. Kurt could hardly believe it himself. A year had gone by so fast, and so much had happened.

He remembered that afternoon, how he’d been sitting with Santana and Brittany, talking fashion and Cheerios routines and working on his paper (about Blaine, oh, the irony) when Blaine had tweeted his phone number by accident.

He decided to have a little fun with the fans. Blaine wasn’t the only one who could start a riot. Kurt opened his seldom used Twitter (though he definitely had a following now that he and Blaine were public –a hundred thousand plus and climbing daily), and typed up a message.

He laughed again as he headed for the shower to get ready for school.

Blaine woke up with a smile on his face, the lovely dream he’d been having about Kurt fading as he came to full consciousness. He glanced at the clock and then stretched, enjoying the feeling of his muscles pulling tightly. He really needed to get better at working out. He had a feeling he’d be doing some shirtless scenes this season on the show, if the writers had their way.

Blaine got up, yawning as he headed for his computer. He had some time before he had to be to the set and wanted to check his emails and maybe do some Twitter replies before calling Kurt to wish him a ‘happy anniversary.’

He logged onto his Twitter and smiled as he answered a few questions and then checked his @ replies. Kurt had tweeted him already, and probably stirred up the Dalton fans in the process. Blaine wasted no time tweeting him back.

Blaine smiled and went to get ready for work.

“Having the flowers delivered to the choir room was a nice touch,” Kurt said into the phone, he and Blaine already having exchanged anniversary wishes. “Everyone was suitably jealous and I got to carry a gorgeous bouquet of roses around all day.”

“You’re welcome,” Blaine replied and Kurt chuckled. “I enjoyed the edible arrangement you sent to the set – before the vultures set in. Nick and Jeff send their thanks.”

Kurt giggled. “I can’t believe it’s been a year,” he told Blaine. “I feel like I’ve known you forever.”

“I know what you mean,” Blaine agreed. “There’s like, a moment, where you say to yourself ‘oh, there you are. I’ve been looking for you forever,’” he continued. “Meeting you – talking to you on the phone that day… that was a moment for me.”

“Why are you across the country right now?” Kurt whined. “Even though that was cheesy as hell, I really, really want to kiss you.”

“I thought it was romantic,” Blaine pouted.

“It was,” Kurt murmured. “It’s possibly the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me.”

“I do aim to please,” Blaine replied.

“You are such a dork,” Kurt teased, laughing.

“Yes, but I’m your dork.”

“Always,” Kurt spoke softly.

“Same,” Blaine promised. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” Kurt replied. “Are we Skyping later?”

Blaine sighed. “No, as much as I want to. I think it’s going to be a late night.”

“Yikes,” Kurt commiserated. “I’ll let you get back to it then.”

“Thanksgiving is next week,” Blaine pointed out a couple of days later. They were chatting over Skype, Kurt engrossed in his homework. Blaine was content to watch him work; Kurt made the most adorable faces while he was deep in concentration.

“Mmhmmmm,” Kurt murmured, scribbling an answer on his paper. “Carole’s planning a feast.”

“How does she feel about two extra guests for dessert?”

Kurt’s head shot up and his face was full of disbelief and excitement. “Are you serious?”

Blaine nodded. “My dad called today, apparently. He wants me and mom home for Thanksgiving so we can play pseudo happy family.”

“That sounds awful,” Kurt said softly.

“It will be,” Blaine replied. “But it won’t matter, because at the end of the day I’ll get to see you.”

“I’ll tell Carole to expect you and your mom then.” Kurt bounced excitedly. “Are you going to stay the whole weekend?”

“That’s the plan.” Blaine smiled when Kurt clapped in his excitement.

“Oh, we can go Black Friday shopping, and ice skating and – what?” Kurt asked, seeing that Blaine was staring at him.

“You’re adorable,” Blaine sighed.

“You always say that,” Kurt muttered, turning red.

“It’s because it’s true,” Blaine insisted. “You’re adorable and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

“Well, I’m glad you think so,” Kurt said. “Otherwise we probably wouldn’t have made it this long.”

“Oh, I think we would have,” Blaine disagreed. “You’re also really hot.” Kurt turned red again.

“So, Thanksgiving…” He cleared his throat.

“Yeah,” Blaine replied.

“I can’t wait,” Kurt told him.

“Me either.”

After they said goodnight, Blaine went to the calendar on the wall and started marking the days. Sure, he would have to put up with his homophobic father for eight hours or whatever, but he meant what he’d told Kurt. It was all worth it to get to spend time with him.

He’d deal with it better than he had last time.

His father wouldn’t get to him again.
