Neither one of them said anything, just stared at each other for a long moment. Kurt’s mouth slowly crept upward into a smile, and Blaine couldn’t help return it, looking sheepish. He was sure his face was red.
“You kissed me,” Kurt finally broke the silence with a whisper. They were still intertwined, Kurt with his back pressed against the counter and Blaine right in front of him.
“I shouldn’t have, I know…” Blaine started to say. Kurt cut him off by pressing his finger to Blaine’s lips.
“Shut up, Blaine,” Kurt ordered, still whispering. He moved his finger and leaned in, kissing Blaine again. Blaine made a noise against his mouth and untangled his hands from Kurt’s and the hose they’d been fighting over. Kurt’s arms came up around his neck, and Blaine moved his to Kurt’s waist, holding him as close as possible. He never imagined he could feel so much at once.
Kurt pulled away from him with a gasp, turning his head, his expression a combination of emotions. His eyes were closed, and he was holding Blaine tightly. That’s when Blaine realized Kurt was shaking just a little. “You take my breath away,” Kurt murmured.
“Same here,” Blaine managed. “I never thought I’d meet someone like you.”
“If someone had told me last year that I’d be kissing ‘The Blaine Anderson’ in the middle of his kitchen in LA, I would have told them to get their head examined.” Kurt let out a breathy laugh and Blaine couldn’t help but chuckle too.
Kurt shivered in his arms again, and then looked embarrassed. “Sorry,” he apologized. “I’m kind of cold.”
The air conditioning kicked on, and with their wet clothes, Blaine could feel the chill. “Why don’t we change, and then… talk?” Kurt smiled, and headed into the living room to get clothes from his suitcase. Blaine turned the air back on his way to his room, hastily pulling out dry clothes - lounge pants and Dalton shirt given the hour. “Hey, Kurt, do you want to –“ Blaine started to ask, pushing open the bathroom door a little more; Kurt had left it cracked. He stopped in mid-sentence, catching sight of Kurt’s naked back.
His naked, bruised back.
Kurt jumped about a foot, turning around, and then holding his wet shirt in front of him so Blaine couldn’t see his chest. Blaine was unconcerned about his embarrassment though – the bruise on Kurt’s back was dark purple, about midway up.
“What happened to your back?” Blaine asked, reaching out to turn Kurt around so he could look at it.
“What?” Kurt replied, eyebrows raised. Blaine simply traced the bruise with his fingers. “Oh, that. It’s nothing,” Kurt told him.
“A bruise isn’t ‘nothing’,” Blaine denied. “Please don’t lie to me.”
“It’s really nothing, Blaine,” Kurt insisted. Blaine sighed.
“One of the reasons why our friendship works is because we’re honest with each other.” He searched Kurt’s gaze. “Please tell me what happened.”
“Fine,” Kurt agreed with a sigh of his own, slipping his pajama shirt on and buttoning it up.
“There are a few boys at my school who think chucking the gay kid into the lockers is a roaring good time,” he explained in a rush. “That’s from where my back hit one of the combination locks.”
“Kurt,” Blaine whispered, horrified. He’d been bullied, sure. Not like that, though, and his parents had immediately moved him to Crawford before it could escalate.
“I’m fine, Blaine, I promise,” Kurt told him. “Let’s go… talk.”
Blaine held out his hand and Kurt took it, biting his lip. Blaine led Kurt into his room and they both settled on the bed.
“So…” Kurt looked at his hands, where his fingers were currently tangling together. Blaine took Kurt’s hand again.
“If we were two normal teenagers, we probably wouldn’t have to talk about this,” Blaine said. “But I’m in the public eye, and we do.” Kurt nodded. “I like you, Kurt.”
Kurt blushed. “I like you, too.”
“If we… did this, it would be a long distance relationship, and it wouldn’t be easy.”
“We talk everyday as it is, Blaine,” Kurt pointed out. “Sure, it would be hard not to see each other in person, but there’s Skype and phone calls, and…”
“I know,” Blaine agreed. “You wouldn’t be able to tell anyone – not even your friends.”
“Would it be so terrible if the world found out about us?” Kurt asked, his voice timid.
“No,” Blaine smiled. “I want to shout it from the rooftops.” His smile fell a little. “But the media, Kurt, they would be all over you and me. And it wouldn’t all be kind.”
“I know,” Kurt sighed.
“So, if you want to try being…” Blaine gestured between him and Kurt.
“Boyfriends?” Kurt’s quiet voice helpfully supplied.
“Yes, boyfriends,” Blaine agreed. “I’m willing if you are.”
“I am,” Kurt said shyly. “I’ve never had a boyfriend before.”
“Me either,” Blaine told him. “I guess we’ll figure it out together.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Kurt smiled at him and Blaine felt his heart flutter.
“I’m going to kiss you know,” he uttered, moving closer to Kurt.
“Okay,” Kurt murmured. Blaine moved so he was sitting on his knees and then leaned forward, pressing his lips gently to Kurt’s. His hand found Kurt’s cheek and he stroked the softness under his fingers. Kurt made a whimpering noise and Blaine took that as a personal victory.

Kurt had lost track of time. He had no idea how long they’d been kissing and Kurt was pretty sure he never wanted to stop.
His hands were tangled in Blaine’s hair, and Blaine was making himself intimately acquainted with the side of Kurt’s neck. They were on the bed, Kurt on his back with Blaine lying beside him. The kisses were feather light, gentle presses followed by the occasional swipe of Blaine’s tongue against the sensitive flesh.
Kurt was slowly but surely coming undone.
“Blaine,” Kurt gasped out. “Blaine.” Blaine pulled back a little, his eyes crinkling as he smiled at Kurt. “I think… I think we should… take a breather.”
“Too much?” Blaine asked, concern in his voice.
“Maybe a little?” Kurt answered. “I think we’ve pretty much rounded first base and started for second.”
“A sports analogy, Mr. Hummel,” Blaine teased. “I’m impressed.”
“Shut up,” Kurt said, smacking him on the arm lightly.
“Cooling off,” Blaine promised, sliding back from Kurt a little. Kurt pulled his hands from Blaine’s hair, his eyes following Blaine’s every move. Blaine glanced at the clock. “It’s getting late. Are you… sleeping in here again?” Blaine sounded so hopeful.
“Do you want me to?” Kurt met his gaze again, nearly overwhelmed by the raw emotion in Blaine’s eyes.
“Yes,” Blaine admitted.
“Then I will,” Kurt told him. “Movie? It’s your pick.”
They snuggled together under the blankets; Kurt curled into Blaine as they watched the beginning of My Fair Lady. Blaine drifted off to sleep first, and Kurt was content to split his time between the movie and staring at Blaine while he slept.
This beautiful boy was his boyfriend.
Sighing happily, Kurt rested his head on Blaine’s chest and fell asleep.

Sunday morning found Blaine waking up alone. He reached his hand out to find Kurt only to discover Kurt’s side of the bed was empty. He blinked his eyes open, sitting up to look around his room.
A noise in the hall let him know Kurt was still there, and he smiled as the joy from the night before came back full force.
He and Kurt were officially together.
“Oh, you’re awake,” Kurt said, coming into the room. He was carrying a tray laden down with food and what looked like one of the flowers from the display in the living room in a vase. He looked slightly disappointed.
“I just woke up, I swear,” Blaine replied, wanting to put the smile back on Kurt’s face. “You made breakfast?”
“I did.” Kurt nodded. “Fruit salad with granola and yogurt.”
“Sounds amazing,” Blaine told him, patting the bed next to him. Kurt handed him the tray and settled down on the bed. Blaine set the tray so that it was straddling both their laps and the two of them began eating. Somehow they got into a discussion of how Kurt had become a fan of Dalton in the first place.
“Things sucked, pretty much,” Kurt admitted. “I’d just officially come out – though kids at school had been calling me ‘fag’ for years – and between the bullying and the slushies and life… I wanted a way to escape. So when I saw that there was going to be a show about an all boys private school and they were going to have a glee club and sing – it sounded like what I was looking for.” Kurt took Blaine’s hand in his. “And to see you, a gay guy, playing a gay character on my TV every week – you don’t know what that meant to me. What I’m pretty sure it means to millions of kids all over the world.”
“Wow,” Blaine looked startled. “I’m continually blown away when people tell me their stories,” he paused. “I never imagined just doing my job could mean so much to so many.”
“It’s because of who you are, Blaine,” Kurt murmured. Blaine could feel the blush spreading on his cheeks, and he leaned over and kissed Kurt lightly. Kurt tasted of fruit and yogurt and Blaine found himself prolonging the kiss, searching for more.
“I could just kiss you forever,” Blaine breathed against Kurt’s lips. Kurt giggled.
“That’s physically impossible,” he teased. Blaine smiled.
“We could give it a shot.” Blaine kissed him again, his tongue seeking entrance to Kurt’s mouth, which Kurt granted after a moment. Blaine wasn’t sure which one of them moaned when their tongues touched; maybe it was both of them.
He shifted, trying to get closer to Kurt, one of his hands tangling in Kurt’s hair. He heard a clanking sound then, and nearly jumped out of his skin when he got a lap full of orange juice.
Blaine jerked back, the cool liquid seeping immediately into the bed sheets and his lounge pants. Kurt laughed.
“I’m sorry,” he said, still laughing. “But you should see your face.”
*
Kurt made himself busy by stripping Blaine’s bed and remaking it with clean sheets. He couldn’t help the little laugh that escaped as he pictured Blaine’s startled but horrified face. He supposed that’s what they got for forgetting the tray was balanced on their laps.
He could hear the shower running down the hall and knew that Blaine was still in there getting the orange juice off. Kurt was just glad it hadn’t landed on him, though he felt bad for Blaine (and Blaine’s sheets – they were definitely a high thread count and probably had to be dry cleaned or something). He smoothed the bedspread down on top of the fresh sheets, his mind slipping back to that perfect moment right before the juice fell. His face burned hot, and he could feel the redness in his cheeks – still, he relished the feeling of Blaine’s tongue in his mouth.
He’d always wondered what was so fascinating about kissing that way. Sure, people on TV and in movies did it all the time. He’d once seen Rachel and Finn do it (a scarring experience as Finn looked like he was trying to eat Rachel’s face), but now that he knew how it felt…
Kurt shivered a little, and then smiled. “Uh, Kurt?” He turned around, hearing Blaine’s voice in the doorway behind him.
“Ye –“ Kurt answered, cutting himself off in surprise. Blaine was standing there in nothing but a towel, looking sheepish. Kurt was sure his eyes were wide and his face was red, but he couldn’t seem to look away either.
“I kind of forgot to grab a change of clothes,” Blaine explained.
“Yeah, I’ll just…” Kurt pointed to the door and walked toward Blaine. Blaine stepped into the room and let Kurt go around him.
As Kurt escaped into the hall, shutting Blaine’s door behind him, he pressed his hand to his mouth to keep from making a sound.
Holy hell, his boyfriend was hot.
*
They passed the rest of the day in a lazy fashion – a movie marathon of their favorite musicals followed by dinner expertly ordered by Blaine. Blaine convinced him to try sushi and Kurt found a few things he liked.
They fell into bed much as they had the last two nights, mouths attached to each other, learning all they could before one of them (Blaine this time) declared a cool off.
Blaine was out the moment his head relaxed against the pillow, but Kurt lay awake awhile longer, too excited to sleep. Tomorrow, he would be on a real sound stage on a real set. He imagined how it would look, and the clever, witty things he would say when he met Blaine’s fellow cast members.
His last thought as he fell asleep was that he hoped he didn’t make a fool of himself.
