Kurt was bored. School had been out for a week. His friends were scattered to the wind – off on various vacations or working summer jobs. Kurt himself was working part time at the garage with his dad, but it was Finn’s day, so he was home alone.

He debated going out somewhere, but summer had come fast and early to Ohio, and it was just too damn hot to do anything he didn’t have to. So there he was, sprawled out on the couch, watching TV. A marathon of Project Runway was on, but Kurt wasn’t watching it. His thoughts had turned to the previous night, when he and Blaine had Skyped together, Blaine in his hotel room from the tour.

Blaine had been on the Dalton Live tour for a few weeks now, slowly making his way across the country with the rest of his co-stars, performing in a different city almost every night. Most nights Blaine crashed once the concert was over, but last night had been an exception – it was a rare day off for them, and Blaine had managed to snag a single room.

They’d put it to good use, and Kurt flushed bright red at the memory. He never once in a million years figured he’d be the type to have any kind of internet sex, so it was definitely an interesting experience… one that would probably be repeated.

He’d spent most of his free time tracking Blaine online, which was highly amusing. Not only were fans recording the concerts or live streaming them if they were capable, but the videos were making their way to Tumblr and YouTube. Kurt created a new Tumblr to track the information. He didn’t follow anyone, but somehow he’d picked up a couple of followers. No one knew who he was though and that was fun. Between fan accounts on Tumblr, news accounts on the media blogs and various websites, as well as stuff Blaine himself texted or emailed to him, Kurt was pretty much able to see nearly every minute of Blaine’s days on tour.

He couldn’t wait until they came to Cleveland. Blaine had gotten him, Rachel, Mercedes, Santana and Brittany VIP tickets to the concert, complete with backstage passes. The concert date was slowly approaching and Kurt couldn’t wait. Burt had agreed to rent them a hotel room, so they were staying overnight for two nights as well – they were driving up the day before the concert and staying until the morning after, when Blaine would head onto the next tour stop.

He sighed and turned his attention back to the TV and then groaned. “Who would even wear that?” he said aloud, sending Blaine a text about the monstrosity he’d just seen on his TV. “Just… no.”

*

The day of the concert dawn bright and early, thanks to a text from Blaine.

What’s your room number?

Kurt blinked at his phone for a moment, then at the clock, then at room number on the card near the clock before text his reply back.

1536. IT’S EARLY, BLAINE.

A reply came a moment later.

I know, I’m sorry. We’ll be checking in shortly, and then I’ll come find you.

Kurt was excited, but he was also exhausted – he and the girls had stayed up late the night before, enjoying a night away from their parents’ watchful gazes. They’d enjoyed makeovers and Santana had even snuck in a small bottle of wine they’d used to play ‘I Never’ with. Kurt had revealed a lot more than he’d ever intended to, thanks to that game.

Rachel was curled up next to him, dead to the world. He glanced at Santana and Brittany in the other bed, also asleep – they were snuggled together and Kurt shook his head. Even though the girls weren’t admitting it, he knew something more than just randomly hooking up was going on there. Ever since Brittany had broken up with Artie just before prom, she and Santana had been closer than ever.

Mercedes was blinking awake on the roll-away cot wedged in the corner of the room, and he smiled at her.

“Blaine?” she mouthed. He nodded.

“Shower,” he mouthed back before slipped out of bed. Kurt grabbed his bathroom kit and a change of clothes and went into the bathroom to shower.

He got ready pretty quickly, his outfit for the day simple (but fashionable, of course), as he had no idea what Blaine’s plans were. A knock sounded at the door, and Kurt could hear the girls stirring in the other room. Kurt rushed out and opened the door to see Blaine in the hall. He stepped back to let Blaine in, Blaine grabbing him suddenly and kissing him firmly.

Kurt forgot where he was the moment Blaine’s lips touched his and it wasn’t until Santana’s voice registered that he remembered. “Wanky,” she said, and they pulled apart. “I see what you mean about that thing he does with his tongue.” Santana continued. Blaine turned his questioning eyes on Kurt, who turned bright red.

“I’ll tell you later,” he told Blaine. “Where are we going?”

“Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame,” Blaine answered. “You ready?” Kurt nodded, grabbing his wallet and cell phone.

“We’ll see you ladies back here at five so we can head over to do a sound check.” Blaine told the girls, who all squealed.

Kurt followed Blaine into the hallway, seeing Wes and David waiting. It was weird not to be completely alone with Blaine, but Kurt knew it was for their safety.

The Hall of Fame was a billon degrees, but Kurt enjoyed it, drooling over all the costumes and memorabilia. Blaine was mobbed by the gift shop by a group of girls headed for the concert, and Kurt enjoyed watching him take pictures and sign things. He was pretty sure a couple of the girls got his picture too, and for a moment he lamented his chosen outfit.

He could just imagine the Tumblr posts being made.

OMG, YOU GUYS. THE DALTON CAST IS IN OHIO, AND I RAN INTO BLAINE ANDERSON AT THE ROCK ‘N ROLL HALL OF FAME TODAY.

IS THAT KURT HUMMEL IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE PICTURE?

#EXCUSE ME, I HAVE TO GO FREAK OUT NOW

OMG, IT IS!

THEY WENT THERE TOGETHER?

OMG, DO YOU THINK HE’LL BE AT THE CONCERT WITH BLAINE TONIGHT?

After sound check (where the girls proceeded to tease the crap out of the Dalton boys, and Kurt refrained from strangling Sebastian – he and the Jefferson High glee club had come along on the tour as a second act), Kurt and the girls headed back to the hotel to get changed. Again, Kurt kept his outfit simple but tasteful, and included a Dalton tie, which Blaine had given him earlier.

They left the hotel and went across the street to the Q Arena, handing their tickets to the ushers and were shown to their seats. The concert started after a while, and Kurt couldn’t take his eyes off Blaine. The Warblers sang and danced and Blaine worked his microphone in such a way that Kurt couldn’t keep himself from blushing.

Kurt went to the bathroom when Sebastian and his group came out, and managed to stay gone for two of their three songs. They were finally done, and then Blaine came out to center stage alone. The crowd cheered as he waved, and then quieted down when he started to speak.

“How you guys doin’?” Blaine asked, and there was more cheering. “You havin’ a good time?” More screaming. Blaine laughed, and Kurt could tell he was in his element. “So, there’s this person that I like,” Blaine said, looking shy, and Kurt couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped. Every night, the Warblers picked someone from the VIP section to serenade on stage, and it always started the same way. “You guys don’t think singing to them would be too much, do you?”

Blaine paused, waiting for the screams to die down again. The rest of the Warblers slowly made their way out to the stage, one of them bringing out a metal stool. “So, this person that I like, they’re sitting in the VIP section,” Blaine continued. Most of the VIP section started freaking out. Blaine smirked, heading toward the side where Kurt and the girls were sitting. Kurt figured out what Blaine was doing a split second before he did it, and there was nothing he could do about it. Blaine gestured to Kurt, and one of the arena guards waved him forward, leaving Kurt no choice but to move to the end of his row, and then up the stairs onto the stage. Blaine took his hand and led him over to the stool and Kurt sat down. The crowd was going crazy, and Kurt would have bet good money that seventy-five percent of those in attendance knew who he was. “What’s your name?” Blaine asked, holding the microphone out for Kurt to speak into. He was grinning, and Kurt wanted to be mad, but he couldn’t.

“Kurt,” he replied, and the crowd cheered again.

“Well, Kurt,” Blaine said, “Are you ready?” Kurt nodded, crossing one leg over the other, and clasping his hands over his knee.

The Warblers started their back up, and then Blaine launched into “When I Get You Alone.” Kurt couldn’t believe his eyes. The song had been sung on the show at a school assembly, and Kurt had found it hysterical that this is what they were doing with it on the tour. He watched as Blaine and the other boys danced around, smiling at Nick and Jeff, when they danced close by and slapping them high fives when they held out their hands.

The song came to a close with all the boys down on their knees in front of Kurt, their hands raised. Kurt laughed, embarrassed, and then clapped. The stadium nearly shook with the sounds from the crowd as Blaine took Kurt by the hand and helped him up. He kissed Kurt on the cheek (as he had all the other’s he’d sung too, male or female, over the course of the tour), and sent Kurt back to his seat.

*

OMG, DID YOU SEE THE VIDEO?

YOU GUYS GO ON WITH OUT ME OKAY? BECAUSE THIS OVERLOAD OF ADORABLENESS HAS KILLED ME.

#BLAINE ANDERSON: SLAUGHTERING FANGIRLS ONE PERFORMANCE AT A TIME.

THEY’RE SO FUCKING IN LOVE I CAN’T STAND IT, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY.

DID YOU SEE KURT’S FACE AT 1:25? HE HAD SOME SERIOUS HEART EYES GOING ON.

*

“I still can’t believe you did that,” Kurt muttered, snuggling close to Blaine. Blaine had once again requested a private room in the hotel, and they were currently enjoying their time alone. The girls had gone back to their room, after teasing Kurt that they’d see him in the morning.

They were lying in bed, naked and sweaty (and probably a little gross, if Kurt was honest, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave the bed to go shower), with Kurt’s head on Blaine’s chest.

“I nearly kissed you on stage tonight,” Blaine confessed. “I wanted to.”

“I would have let you,” Kurt replied honestly. He had never wanted to hide what they were – it was Blaine who had insisted on secrecy, but they were always reasons that Kurt understood. Blaine sighed.

“I want to shout it from the rooftops that you’re mine,” he murmured in Kurt’s ear, and Kurt shivered.

“Are we talking about this seriously?” Kurt asked, raising his head so he could see Blaine’s face.

“Yes,” Blaine sighed again. “It’s hard enough being apart from you and hiding what you mean to me. I want to be able to kiss you in public, and put my arm around you when we walk down the street, and sing to you without everyone speculating about the nature of our relationship.”

“Then let’s do it,” Kurt said, meeting his eyes. “Let’s ‘come out.’”

“Are you serious?” Blaine asked. “Because I don’t think you really know what you’re getting into here. The media might hound you. The paparazzi will stalk you and your family. You might never have another moment’s peace.”

“Blaine, I know all this,” Kurt insisted. “And I highly doubt my family will be the target of the press – it’ll mostly just be me, and I can handle it.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I promise I’m sure.” Kurt rolled his eyes. “You don’t always have to try and protect me. I can take care of myself, you know.”

“Oh, believe me, I know,” Blaine smiled. “Okay. Let’s do it. Let’s go public.”

“When?” Kurt asked softly.

“How much time do you need to prepare your family?”

“Probably not long. I have a feeling they know this is coming,” Kurt replied.

“The Emmys,” Blaine suggested. “It’s a big event – lots of media. We’ll give Ryan Seacrest the exclusive scoop.”

Kurt laughed. “Yeah, okay.”

He snuggled his head back down on Blaine’s chest and made a contented sound when Blaine started running his fingers through his hair. Anyone else and he’d take their head off, but this was Blaine.

Kurt drifted off to sleep, his mind filled with scenarios on how their arrival at the Emmys would go.

He couldn’t wait to officially be Blaine Anderson’s boyfriend.
