August 2012

Two months later, I still couldn’t get that uninhibited night in June out of my head. At least once a week I dreamed of either that night or of meeting the stranger again and having another round, as unlikely as that was. It was all a fantasy though; I never thought I would meet him again.

-*-

I walked into the first lecture class of my senior year at NYADA and found a seat at the front of the room to dissuade myself from pulling out my phone and browsing the internet during class. At 9 o’clock on the dot, none other than one Rachel Berry, centerpiece of the great white way of Broadway, walked up to the podium.

“Hello fans, you all know me already from my success on Broadway, but I’ll introduce myself anyways. I’m Rachel Berry. I’ve stared in many Broadway shows since my start 5 years ago, one of the most notable being Wicked. I have a Tony to my name, and connections to all the right people. NYADA is my alma matter and I’ve been persuaded to be the instructor of your Broadway Greatness lecture, an honor I’m well aware of. I will be getting many of my connections to come speak in front of you and tell you of their trials, tribulations, and successes, none of which are as great as mine of course. Some you will know, some you may not. Not everybody who speaks in front of you will have performed on stage. Today will be your first guest lecturer, because I will be speaking in front of you last; you do, after all, save the best for last. So, without further ado, I present my best friend, costume designer for many Broadway plays-“

The second the man stepped out into view, I stopped listening to Rachel Berry talking. My breath caught and I pressed a hand to my mouth to keep my yelp of shock quiet. Standing in front of the lecture hall was none other than the man I couldn’t get out of my dreams for the past few months.

“Rachel, seriously, I didn’t need you to--“ I could tell the second he saw me sitting in the front of the room. He just stopped talking and opened and closed his mouth like a fish. Rachel nudged him and he shook his head like he was coming out of a trance. He started into his lecture and never again looked at me.

At the end of class, right before everybody was dismissed, he looked at me again. He mouthed one word and I knew it was a command. Stay.

*-*

Everybody had filed out except for Rachel, him, and me. I stayed sitting in my seat exactly as I had been since I had seen him, watching him carefully. He hopped down off the small stage and sauntered over towards me. He looked me up and down appreciatively before sticking his hand out.

“We were never formally introduced. What’s your name?” his voice was a bit higher than when I had seen him last, but it fit him.

“B-Blaine A-An-Anderson,” I shook his hand dumbly, holding on for a little too long.

“Well, Bblaine A An Anderson, would you like to come to the coffee shop just off campus with Rachel and me? We were planning to go there after this class was over, and now it is, and you were here, so I thought you might want to-“

“Yes.” I cut him off with a simple answer, smiling to myself at how nervous he was. It was such a far cry from the powerful Dominate I had given myself to all those weeks ago. I should have guessed he would be different from how he was dressed though. Gone were the painted on leather pants and buckle-strap shirt and in their place was a pair of expensive looking straight fit jeans, and a Henley.

“You look different too,” he whispered, having leaned forwards, his lips close to my ear. He pulled back with a smirk before turning and calling out “Rachel, he’s joining us, so hurry up please before he has to leave.”

“Kurt! He’s a student! You can’t just-“

“Rachel, just do us all a favor and shut up. We’ll meet you there.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me up before picking my bag up and slinging it over his shoulder and leading me out of the lecture hall. “Sorry about her; she’s a little too much sometimes, but she’s been my best friend for a long time.”

He smiled over at me and, upon glancing down at our joined hands, quickly let go. He cleared his throat before shifting my bag off his shoulder and handing it to me. He kept walking, expecting me to follow him towards the coffee shop. He lead, half a step in front of me, talking as we walked.

“So, uh, here’s the thing. I’m not a Dom anymore. I gave that up a couple of years ago. And I would…. appreciate it if you didn’t tell anybody what we did all those months ago. I don’t do that stuff. For some reason when I saw you in that club, all of the giving up I did, all of the resolve I had, flew out the window. I wasn’t even thinking until after we were done in the playroom. God, I’m not supposed to even own that house. Yes, what we did was fantastic and amazing, but I’m not that person anymore. So, if anyone asks, we never met before today. Got it?” He had started off soft and unsure of what exactly he was saying, but as he progressed, he got more confident, more like the man I trusted all those months ago.

“Y…. yeah. Never met before. Is…. Is that why you invited me to coffee? To tell me you don’t know me?” I diverted my eyes to the ground and shuffled from foot to foot nervously.

“No. I invited you to coffee because I would really like to get to know you. I’d like to start fresh. Forget everything that we did all those months ago and start with a clean slate.”

He stretched his hand out to shake mine and smiled before saying “I’m Kurt Hummel. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
