When Burt moved away, sniffing and clenching his jaw so he wouldn't cry, Kurt turned around and flung his arms around Carole. "I'm going to miss you guys so much," he murmured in a shaky saprano voice.
They were at the train station. The train Kurt was to go on would take him straight to the Capitol where he would get to personally meet President Snow and get assigned his shop and new home in the Captiol. He was so excited but then again, he was so sad to leave behind his family.
"Don't worry about us. We'll be fine. Work has really picked up for us thanks to you. But we want you to stay safe, kid. Ya hear? We need you to remember who you are and where you came from. I've seen who those Capitol people are these days. Don't even recognize the ones from Districts anymore," Burt said, shaking his head with disgust--an excuse not to be so sad and let himself cry as much as he wanted to.
Kurt looked back at his father and gave him a sad but hopeful smile, tilting his head to the side as he gave his father a considerate and thoughtful look. "Dad, don't worry. You know me. I could never forget all of this," he said motioning his hads between him, Carole, and Burt.
Burt smiled and nodded his head, finally unable to keep back just one tear. Kurt saw and let out another wale of sobs, thrashing his arms around his father once more.
The train's whistle sounded, meaning that it was time that Kurt to get on the train.
"I'll make sure I write to you, alright?" Kurt assured them.
Carole put her hand to her mouth as she tried to slow down her steady flow of tears, waving to Kurt with her other hand. Burt wrapped an arm around Carole and pulled her close to his side. She rested her head on his shoulder and they waved to Kurt goodbye together.
Kurt grabbed his luggage and waved back, boarding the train. The doors instantly closed behind him, causing him to slightly jump, looking back to look out the door to his parents. More tears had fell as he waved one last time. And then the train began to move.
Kurt turned around and looked around for seats. A few Capitol officials stood around as if they were Peacekeepers. They looked like they kept to themselves enough, just felt somewhat nosey in the eyes of Kurt. The train was hardly filled. Only a few people were seated on the cart Kurt was assigned to be on. He found a seat amongst the rows and sat down just as one of the officials came by and offered to put his luggage up in the luggage compartment for him. With a polite smile, Kurt allowed them and thanked them. They must have been thankful for Kurt's polite attitude because they smiled in return.
That was the thing with Kurt. When he smiled, everyone around him woud smile. He had the power to smile in anyway possible and yet have ones around him light up with a smile as well. It was contagious--in a good way, of course. Not many people were like Kurt anymore. They were either too caught up in their purpose in their Districts, too worried about providing for their families, or too rude or cranky about life to even think about politeness anymore. Lately, finding politeness in people nowadays was rare.
The train ride was long. Kurt wasn't sure about how long the ride was, but he didn't even bother to check. He just sat in his seat, thinking about everything. Most of all, he thought about the life he was leaving behind. He was at the top of his class in school, had become well-known for his creativity when it came to designing clothing, and was well-liked. He had a wide range of friends, but he somehow knew he'd get out of District 8 one day because his heart and mind told him to not get too close to anyone. If anything, his dad was his best friend. He was the one Kurt would talk his ear off of, he would be the one who helped guide him to where he didn't know to go. But the closest friends his age that Kurt had was Dave Karofsky and Rachel Berry. No one else.
The sky was dark and the air was a bit cooler than expected when the train finally reached the Capitol. The same official helped Kurt with his luggage once more and wished him a good night. Kurt gave him one last smile and wished a good night to him in return. He was sure he made the official's day. He got off of the train and walked to where a Capitol Officer stood holding a sign with Kurt's name on it. He walked over to him as the officer lowered the sign to his side.
"Kurt Hummel?" he asked.
"That's me," Kurt replied as respectively as he could.
The officer nodded his head once. "President Snow is waiting for you," he said as he turned around and began walking.
Kurt followed him to where a car waited for him outside of the train station. He got it and drove the distance to wherever President Snow was without a word.

I really love the plot line of the fic- I have read the HG series (and i am not the biggest fan) but I love the avox/designer forbidden friendship (and hopefully MORE). I don't really think that readers will need knowledge of the HG to follow this fic- you should put that is the summary. Well done! I can't wait for the next update! :D
I'm not the biggest fan of the series. Like, I loved the books, but had no desire to reread them. I went to see the movie twice in theaters, but that's it. But thank you so much for the review! It means a lot. And I'll make sure to include that in the summary, thank you! Instead of waiting for summer break, I may just be able to update the next chapter before then. We'll see. ;)
