oh and dont worry, not sure whats going to happen, but there will be a third instalment of Two Times The Hummel! Promise!!
“I told you to disappear for a bit!”
“I did! I was in my room! She came upstairs and screamed at me!”
Mercedes was slowly waking up, with her hearing returning first. What she heard was confusing. Two Kurts? She couldn't quite remember what had happened.
“Relax Kurt..” that was Blaine, she knew his voice. “We'll worry more about how to explain when she wakes up…”
“If she wakes up.”
“FINN!! You're not helping!!” Kurt screamed.
Mercedes opened her eyes at the yelling and was welcomes by a room of eyes on here. Suddenly she was overwhelmed again. Kurt, Blaine, Finn, and the non-Kurt were all looking at her, like they were waiting for her to say something.
“Which one of you is the real Kurt?” Was the first thing she wanted answered. There was a moment of silence, and then the Kurt standing by Blaine raised his hand slightly. Once she finally knew who to direct her questions at, she fired them off quickly. “What's going on? Who is this!?” she said gesturing to the guy who she now knew was not Kurt.
Kurt looked uneasy, like he didn't want to answer. The Non-Kurt looked annoyed, like he couldn't believe he had to stay and answer questions. Finn just looked uncomfortable, but Blaine looked oddly understanding.
“Come on Mercedes, lets get you off the floor and onto the couch.” He reached for her hand and helped pull her to her feet. He led her over to the couch and then disappeared into the kitchen. A moment later he was back and placing a glass of water on the coffee table in from of Mercedes. She took it gratefully and instantly felt better. Blaine sat down next to her and looked towards Kurt.
Kurt sighed and looked at the non-Kurt. “Fine, Mercedes meet my twin brother Carson.” Kurt said not looking at anyone in particular.
Mercedes eyes got big. Wait.. WHAT? “What do you mean twin brother? We've been friends for two years now and not once have you ever mentioned you had a twin!!” As she spoke her tone went from shock to disbelieving anger.
This time the non-Kurt, Carson, Spoke. “Well now, THAT is a lovely reaction..” He said dripping in sarcasm. “Really, like you would've known he had a brother. It's not something to brag about. ‘oh yeah, and by the way I have a twin brother that lives in California. We really aren't close, not since our mother died and our mom's sister won custody over me.' Jeez, I don't go around telling people either..”
Mercedes looked from Carson to Kurt for confirmation. Kurt nodded, “Our aunt wasn't big on our dad raising us so she fought to get custody. She only won Carson, not me.”
“Well,” Carson interrupts, “she's a drunk and I've had it with her. So here I am, spending the summer in Ohio. And I might even be staying for my senior year, who knows. Once I turn 18 in August, I can be where I please.” A small note of excitement was noticeable in his voice, like he really couldn't wait to officially be back home for good.
Mercedes thought about everything she had just heard and was starting to understand why Kurt had never told her about his brother. If the circumstances were reversed, she felt she would have done the same. She gave a small smile and it was like all the tension in the room disappeared. “Well, whatever the circumstances, it's a pleasure to meet you Carson.”
Carson gave her a weak smile and then turned away towards the stairs. Kurt was also smiling, but his was more relief over how Mercedes reacted in the end. Blaine reacted over and squeezed Kurt's hand then, and Mercedes turned away, giving them a private moment.
Finn, who had been very silent over the whole conversation decided it would be best if he just left, leaving Mercedes, Kurt and Blaine in the living room.
“Ok”, Mercedes said, trying to make up for how she had entered the Hummel-Hudson household in a crazed fit. “Who wants to watch a movie or something? I brought pretzels…” She looked around, not remembering what had happened to said bag of pretzels in her rush up the stairs to find Kurt earlier.
A soft chuckle game from Blaine, “Oh, I think Finn ate them…” at that all three were laughing and the afternoon of fun movies and gossiping started.
Carson came back down a few hours later and joined them for a movie then left the house to help his dad at the shop.
In the end, Mercedes was very happy to be included in the family secret they had going on. Then a sudden thought came to her. Something Carson had mentioned.
What was going to happen if Carson did end up staying in Ohio for his senior year? It wouldn't be a secret if there was someone who looked just like Kurt walking around the school. She'd have to talk to Kurt about it later. Right now they were having too much fun. At the Moment, Mercedes wasn't lonely at all.
