Kurt was walking past Rosegrove Park when he heard the most beautiful thing in the whole world.
Come up to meet you,
Tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are.
Blaine could feel the cold wind and cold rain whipping against his face. It hurt, but not almost as much as the thought of losing Kurt did. This would be his biggest performance in his whole life.
I had to find you,
Tell you I need you,
Tell you I set you apart.
Kurt was drawn to the deep and breath-taking voice which was now getting nearer. He couldn't help himself. Then he saw who it was.
Tell me your secrets,
Nurse me with questions,
Oh, let's go back to the start.
Blaine saw Kurt. Tears of hurt, regret and pain stung his eyes. He could feel his heart miss a beat. Kurt looked somewhat different. Different to when he used to love Blaine. His eyes were no longer filled with care, but hate and anger. He looked older, more mature. Different.
Nobody said it was easy,
It's such a shame for us to part,
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be this hard,
Oh, take me back to the start.
Blaine. Kurt couldn't help but remember everything. Memories flicked through his mind. Everything they had. Everything he'd missed. Blaine's laugh, Blaine's smile, the curl that never really stuck with the rest of Blaine's immaculate hairstyle, the birthmark on his neck, Blaine's voice but most of all, the way Blaine made Kurt feel like the most special person in the world.
I was just guessing,
Of numbers and figures,
Pulling the puzzles apart.
Hot tears rolled down Blaine face. He stared into Kurt's eyes the whole time he was singing. He knew Kurt wasn't his anymore. That was what hurt the most.
Tell me you love me,
Come back and haunt me,
Oh and rush a to the start.
Kurt tried to blink back tears, but it wouldn't work. The rain was falling heavily now. He could have walked away, but he couldn't.
Nobody said it was easy,
Oh it's such a shame for us to part,
Nobody said it was easy,
No one ever said it would be so hard.
I'm going back to the start.
Blaine stepped down from the small foundation he was standing on. He walked slowly towards Kurt. The music was playing from the speaker set he borrowed from Sam. The small crowd that had gathered beforehand had left. Ran away from the heavy rainstorm. It was just him and Kurt. Like it had always been.
Kurt could see Blaine's warm breath in the piercing cold air. Kurt could have ran away, but he needed Blaine. More than ever.
Blaine stepped closer towards Kurt. So close he could feel Kurt's racing breath on his skin. The music faded out. Silence.
Kurt started to run. He couldn't do it.
"Kurt!" Blaine grabbed Kurt before he could get away.
"I can't do it, Blaine! Please!" Kurt sobbed.
"Look at me Kurt." Kurt slowly turned to face Blaine. He felt like this was the first time he'd ever seen the real Blaine.
"I need you Kurt." Blaine simply said. Kurt didn't say anything, he was still gazing into Blaine's eyes, he was completely hypnotized, "It was a complete mistake. Breaking up with you. I don't know how I even survived." After a few moments of silence, Blaine spoke again.
"I tried to kill myself."
Kurt quickly gasped, "What?"
"We were doing duets. I was with Tina and Mr Schue said we should do a love song." Blaine said quietly.
"Oh, Blaine." Kurt whispered.
"I was lying in bed, moping about how shit my life is. Then I got up. I went to the bathroom and...I..." A fresh batch of tears tumbled out of his eyes.
"I took three pills, but...then I realised that I needed to do something. So I came here." Blaine looked around him. The rain was still falling heavily.
"Blaine, I-I had no idea. You should have told me." Kurt whispered. Silence.
"I didn't want to be a burden to you." Blaine sobbed.
"You're not a burden, Blaine. I'll always have time for you. You're the love of my life, I never want to lose you again." Kurt said. He took Blaine's trembling hand in his and held it tight, "I'm sorry for it all, Blaine. I've felt lost without you. I'm incomplete." Kurt touched Blaine's cheek softly and brushed away his tears. He smiled sadly and Blaine did the same.
"I love you, Kurt Hummel. I love you more than anything or anyone." Blaine sniffed.
"I love you too, Blaine. More than words can say." They regarded each other for a second before Kurt pulled Blaine into arms. Their lips met. Rain fell around them, but they felt warm in each other's arms.
Their kiss was passionate, perfect and beautiful. When they finally parted, Blaine smiled at Kurt. He smiled back. Blaine offered his hand to Kurt and they walked away.
Everything was how it should be. And how it's going to stay.
