Be My Valentine
When Blaine woke up he instantly felt the excitement rush through him. He jumped out of bed and began getting ready for the day. This wasn't any normal school day, this was the day for extra hair gel and the best outfit. This was the day when he presented Kurt with not only the physical gift that Blaine had spent months saving up for but he also presented Kurt with the gift of love. This was Valentine's Day.
Kurt walked down the stairs in daydream mode. 'Blaine, Blaine, Blaine. This day means nothing to me but Blaine!' Kurt walked straight out of the front door and swung his legs into the car. He started to drive still wrapped up in his daydreams, it was only when the car in front of him stopped abruptly and Kurt came so close to a day of filling out paperwork that reality dropped back. 'Idiot!' Then realising other mistakes he thought, 'Clearly I forgot breakfast. I'm the idiot.' Reminding himself not to repeat this morning's events to Blaine, Kurt pressed hard on the accelerator and zoomed the rest of the way to school, school where his precious Blaine was waiting for him.
Blaine stood absolutely petrified by his locker. This was his first Valentine's Day with Kurt, actually it was his first Valentine's Day with a boyfriend. he needed to make this day prefect! There were so many things that could go wrong! Kurt could hate his present, Kurt could break up with him! Kurt could have gotten him a better present! Kurt could have...
"Don't worry Blaine. Kurt doesn't look that scary today!" Finn said. As he passed Blaine he stopped. "What's up?"
Blaine didn't seem able to reply. Then slowly the words came out of his mouth, "What...what if..." Blaine turned away and stayed facing his locker until he heard Finn walk away. 'Where is Kurt?' Blaine thought as he turned around to face the corridor again.
Kurt, just as it happens, was almost within Blaine's reach. He seemed unable to let go of the sink in the men's loos. It wasn't the best position to be standing in when some random kids walked in. 'Come on Kurt! Just have courage, have courage for Blaine!'
"Hey Blaine!" Kurt walked up to Blaine was kissed him lightly on the cheek.
Blaine wanted to take Kurt into his arms and kiss him properly but, after looking around, he decided that this would not have the best result. So he settled for the kiss on the cheek and replied, "Hey."
Kurt smiled beautifully. His eyes gaze Blaine such a loving gaze that just he could just stare into them for hours and be carried off into another world where there was just him and Kurt.
"I got you a present," Blaine said.
"Yeah. Me to...you a present I mean, not me. That would just be-" But Kurt was silenced as Blaine drew out a rather expensive looking box.
"Open it, please," Blaine whispered.
So Kurt took the box and pulled off the lid. Inside was a beautiful delicate silver heart locket. It looked as if, originally, it had been designed to be used as a necklace but Blaine had tampered with it and now the chain was short and twisted, it could probably fit around his wrist but Kurt knew all Blaine wanted him to have was a heart. It was pretty, no not pretty beautiful. It was beautiful.
"Do you...um...do you like it? I mean...if you don't...I could um...um...I could take it back and get you something else," Blaine stammered staring nervously at Kurt.
"Blaine...I love it. It's gorgeous." Kurt opened the locket to find two pictures. One of Blaine wearing his attractive warblers outfit, Blaine knew Kurt loved that picture, and another of Kurt which Blaine had probably picked himself. Kurt looked up to see Blaine grinning with pleasure. Kurt let the tears of happiness drip down his face. "I can't believe you would get me something like this. It must have cost you loads."
"Not that much," Blaine lied shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh...almost forgot," Kurt smiled digging into his bag. he pulled out another box that was bigger, and shabbier, than the one Blaine had given him.
Blaine opened the box that contained half a golden heart that must, when the two halves were together, be as big as the palm of a baby's hand. The heart had smooth and perfect edges. In tiny silver lettering it said 'True'.
Blaine was speechless, Kurt said hurriedly, "I thought...um...that...maybe you would like it. I have my half...see. Kurt pulled out his car keys. Attached was the other half of the heart. 'Love' it said. "Maybe...um...um maybe you could put yours on your keys as well?" Kurt suggested.
Blaine did. It sparkled glamorously just like Kurt's eyes. "It's amazing. Thank you," Blaine said.
The bell went and the two of them rushed off in separate directions to class.
Lunch:
"So we're going for dinner at Breadsticks later right?" Kurt smiled.
Blaine looked at him, "Well I was wondering if...maybe...you want to come round to mine?"
Kurt knew what Blaine meant. Blaine wanted to... "I think dinner would be great," Kurt said hurriedly.
But Blaine looked disappointed, "Don't you want to come round?"
"I'll pick you up at seven. Is that ok? Good. Well, see you later," Kurt said. He rose to his feet and walked away.
7:30, Dinner:
"Why didn't you want to come round Kurt?" Blaine asked suddenly.
"I...um...I didn't want your family ruining our first Valentine's Day together," Kurt said his well rehearsed line with difficulty.
"Taylor's out with his girlfriend and Mum and Dad are away on a romantic trip in someplace. You could have come, it would just have been you and me," Blaine put out his hand and placed it on top of Kurt's.
Kurt, after staring at their joint hands for a while said, "We can't recreate that moment Blaine."
"You don't want to have sex with me again? I thought you liked it," Blaine looked hurt and took his hand away.
"I loved it. It was perfect. But that's my point, it just won't be as perfect this time."
"Are you saying that we can never have sex again?"
Kurt felt very uncomfortable whilst talking about this. He looked blankly at Blaine.
"Well, is that true?" Blaine asked impatiently.
"For goodness sake Blaine! I just don't want to have sex again just now. Did you actually think we were going to have sex every other day?!" Kurt shouted.
Everyone turned to look at them.
"Well yeah, maybe I did!" Blaine shouted rising from his chair.
"That's ridiculous!" Kurt screamed.
"You think so?!" Then something popped into Blaine's head. "That's it. You only...you only wanted to have sex because of Sebastian!"
"No...Blaine. That isn't true. I did it because I love you!"
"You're lying. Don't lie to me Kurt!"
"I am not lying!" Kurt shrieked.
"Fine. If you're not then why? Why is it that you always avoid talking about it?"
"Blaine..." Kurt said quietly.
"It doesn't matter anyway," Blaine said. "I'll see you Kurt." Blaine turned and walked away.
"Blaine!" Kurt yelled but Blaine didn't turn back.
Kurt pushed some money onto the table to pay for their meal and ran out of the door. Blaine must have started running as he wasn't in sight. Kurt had driven so he wouldn't have means of transport. Kurt remembered that Blaine's house was to the left so Blaine must have run off to the right.
Kurt found Blaine only minutes later sitting on a bench with head in hands and elbows on knees.
"Blaine?" Kurt asked sitting down next to him.
"What are you doing here?" Blaine spat.
"What you said wasn't true. We had sex because we loved each other, we still do love each other. Why can't you just believe that?" Kurt put his hand on Blaine's shoulder.
"Because...because you don't want to...do it again," Blaine sniffed.
"I don't want to spoil that perfect moment we had together. There won't be another moment as perfect as that Blaine," Kurt smiled. Kurt lifted Blaine's chin and cupped his hands around Blaine's face. "Blaine Anderson, you mean more to me than anything else does. I love you."
Blaine smiled, "I'm sorry Kurt, I don't know what I was thinking. We can wait; we'll wait until you want to. And I'll do that because I love you...so, so much."
