Christmas Spirit
Kurt was driving along the familiar road towards Blaine's house. Luckily the roads had been cleared but school was still cancelled just like the day before. He was going to see Blaine, his Blaine, his perfect Blaine. Blaine Anderson who would always be his.
Absorbed in his daydreams Kurt almost forgot to turn down Blaine's street. His car skidded slightly on the icy street. This road hadn't been cleared. It was obvious to Kurt, who didn't have to be clever to realise, that he would have to park the car right where he was now.
So Kurt, moaning quietly to himself, climbed out of the car and began walking down the street. The original plan was for Blaine to come over to Kurt's but Blaine's parent's were not allowing their precious son to drive on all this ice but they had allowed Kurt to come to theirs. Secretly Kurt thought that they, along with their elder son Taylor, Kurt's car would slip on some of the ice and there would be a fatal accident. 'No way!' Kurt thought, 'They aren't going to get rid of me that easy! Besides I'd do anything to get to my Blaine even if it meant crossing the Sahara Desert or swimming through the Atlantic Ocean."
"Hey Kurt!" Blaine shouted from the other side of the street. Kurt must have been losing it, he could have sworn Blaine's house was on this side.
He turned around to see Blaine pushing a rather large snowball across the lawn with the help of three young children. Instant tears sprung to Kurt's eyes, he remembered building a snowman with his mother.
"Come on Kurt. We need some help!" Blaine yelled.
"Coming!" Kurt ran across the road to join Blaine and the children.
"Hello Kurt!" Tyler, the eldest, grinned wildly. His sisters Darcy and Hannah also smiled but they soon started to push the snow ball towards an even large one.
"Hi," Kurt smiled back at the children who didn't seem to be paying any attention to him.
"Glad you made it. I didn't think you would be able to come with all this snow," Blaine smiled.
"Well I was coming either way. Dad isn't too happy about the weather," Kurt laughed.
"Blaine!" Hannah the youngest child was pulling on Blaine's arm. "Mummy said we have to go inside. Can you roll the head for us? We'll come out later to put on the hat and scarf."
Blaine smiled and agreed.
Kurt and Blaine watched the children run into the house where their mother was standing in the doorway. When the door had shut Kurt said, "Well I'm rubbish at making snow balls, doesn't matter how big or small they are."
"It's easy. Blaine walked over to a patch of large snow. He rolled a small perfectly shaped snowball in his hands. "See, easy."
Then, without warning, he chucked the snowball straight at Kurt.
"Blaine! How could you?!" Kurt yelled. "This is a new coat. A Mar-"
But Blaine chucked another snowball straight at Kurt's face. The force knocked him off his feet.
"Kurt!" Blaine screamed. "Are you ok?" Blaine ran over to where Kurt was lying flat on his back. When he knelt down beside him a rather wet ball of snow was thrown across his face.
"Yeah!" Kurt shouted getting to his feet and running for shelter behind a nearby tree, "Easy!"
Blaine chucked a snowball at Kurt's back, he missed but Kurt's next one hit him in the arm. Blaine ducked another two but hit Kurt when he failed to hide behind the tree fast enough.
Kurt's beautiful laughter filled the air around them. They continued for a while, just throwing balls at each other, laughing when they hit the other and moaning playfully if they missed!
The snow began to fall, white and crisp, around them. Kurt held an extra large snowball in his hand and ran towards Blaine who seemed to think it funny. Their lips met on the freezing cold day, a real kiss. The warm of each other's breath warmed the other inside as their perfect lips pressed together.
"I love you Kurt Hummel," Blaine broke away slowly. "And I know you love me too, I want to be with you always."
"Great. But could possibly love me inside, it's freezing out here!"
Blaine laughed and quickly rolled a makeshift head for his neighbour's snowman before he grabbed Kurt's gloved hand and pulled him across the road.
"Where is everyone?" Kurt asked as they entered Blaine's empty, but warm, house.
"Well, Mum and Dad aren't here. They're on holiday somewhere in...someplace. And...well...Taylor actually pushed his car up the road so he could get out of the house because...well..."
"Because I was coming. Right. I know your family don't like me Blaine, you don't need to hide that from me. Not that I actually care, I'm not in love with them...I'm in love with you."
Kurt could have sworn he saw Blaine blush.
"Do you want a drink? Coffee?" Blaine asked hurriedly.
"Yeah. Thanks," Kurt smiled pulling off his soaked coat, hat, scarf and gloves. "Where do you want me to put these?" Kurt yelled through to Blaine in the kitchen.
"Light a fire in the lounge. We can sit in there!" Blaine replied.
"Right, light a fire. Light a fire. Light a fire," Kurt whispered to himself. How the hell did he light a fire? A fire? He had no idea, but...how hard could it be?
Kurt walked into the lounge and sure enough right in front of him was a large, impressive fireplace. He stood there for a moment looking blankly at the fireplace.
"What's up?" Blaine asked walking in with two cups of coffee.
"A fire?"
"Yeah. That's what I said wasn't it? A fire?"
"Yes but...I don't know how to light..."
"You seriously don't know how to light a fire?" Blaine looked shocked.
"Don't judge me! It's not my fault I have never learnt how to work these common household things!" Kurt snapped.
"Kurt, babe, calm down. It doesn't matter. You'll be so famous anyway that people will be cueing up outside your front door o light you a fire!"
"Yes I suppose..." Kurt trailed off. "Our house," he whispered.
"What? Blaine turned around from where he was kneeling by the fire.
"Oh nothing," Kurt sat down next to him and lent back. Blaine was so special, and he was Kurt's.
Then Kurt spotted something, "Your Christmas Tree is a bit dull," Kurt said, pointing at the tree in the corner of the room. All that was on there were two small baubles.
"Yeah, my parents don't really agree with Christmas. Me and Taylor, we are only allowed to put one bauble each on. The ones mum got for us years ago," Blaine smiled sadly.
"Have you still got decorations?" Kurt asked still staring at the bare tree.
"Yes, we have them in the basement," Blaine said. "Why?"
"I just thought it would be fun to decorate the tree. Your parents are away for Christmas aren't they?"
"Yeah. And Taylor wouldn't mind," Blaine became excited.
"I'll go get the decorations while you get rid of our wet clothes," Kurt smiled gleefully.
"Ok. The key is on the table in the hallway."
So Kurt went out into the hallway, took the key and unlocked the door that lead to the basement. He shivered as soon as the door opened, clearly the family didn't bother with the heating down there. Descending the steps Kurt hugged his designer jumper tighter around him. The room below was extremely uninteresting and was bursting to the limit with boxes. Kurt's face fell. It wasn't until he opened the seventh box that he found it was full of Christmas Tree decorations. Clutching the large and heavy box Kurt climbed back up the stairs until he reached Blaine.
"Here," Kurt smiled.
"Perfect!" Blaine grinned.
And so they began decorating. The tree was large but all the decorations barley fit on. When they had finished the tree was glistening.
"Amazing, it looks beautiful," Kurt said as he and Blaine stood back to admire their work.
"Yes, almost as beautiful as you," Blaine whispered. Kurt couldn't help but smile.
"Yes and the star on top is shining almost as brightly as you," Kurt smiled.
"But not even close to the way you shine," Blaine smiled. He kissed Kurt for the second time that day.
"Merry Christmas Kurt."
Kurt didn't reply, he just wrapped himself in Blaine's arms and kissed once again.
