Style Me!
Kurt walked into the hairdressers, Style Me, with Blaine. They sat down and waited for Kurt’s job interviewer to come.“Has any literally died while having a job interview?” Kurt asked nervously with butterflies in his stomach.
“Are you nervous?” Blaine looked at his ridiculous boyfriend.
“Please don’t judge me. I’ve never had a job interview before. I have these crazy dreams that I’m gonna get in there and pee myself with nerves.” Blaine looked at him smiling. It reminded him of the day they kissed and were about to go and sing a duet together in front of loads of people. Blaine laughed. “What?” Kurt said quickly, “Is it my hair?” His hands quickly flew to his hair and covered it.
“No, no. It’s just I love you so much.”
“I-“ Kurt was about to reply when someone called out his name.
“Ah! This is it! Wish me luck!” Kurt whispered nervously before Blaine planted a quick kiss on his trembling lips.
“You’ll do fine, I know it. Knock ‘em dead, babe!” Blaine encouraged his wonderful Kurt.
In the office!
Kurt opened the door to a rather neat and tidy office.
“Ah, hello!” the boss man got up and shook Kurt’s hand unwillingly.
“Hi! I’m-“
“Kurt Hummel, no?” the boss man had a slight Latino accent which Kurt always found really sexy in guys.
“Yes, Mr…” Kurt looked at his name tag, “Mr Pereziomartinezlopez?”
“No, no. Call me Carlos.” Carlos indicated a seat for Kurt to sit on and he sat immediately. No fuss, no hesitation. His assistant whispered something to him and Carlos looked at Kurt as if he was unimpressed.
“So, why do you want the job?” Carlos asked, suddenly paying a lot less attention to Kurt and a lot more to his phone.
“Well, I just really love hairdressing. I have great hair, as you can probably see,” Kurt said pointing to his neat hairstyle, “I just have the charm and charisma to do it as well. And I have a good CV.” Kurt handed Carlos his resume. After 2 minutes of pure awkward silence, Carlos looked up.
“So, young Hummel. Tell me, are you good with the ladies?” He said in a flirty way.
Kurt froze up, he must have sensed he was gay, he just must have. He cleared his throat and put his hands on his knees.
“Uh, I don’t think that question is really appropriate.” Kurt whispered quietly. Carlos glared at him.
“I mean, yes. I am friendly with them and I’m sure they’ll love me. I mean, I could give them good fashion tips, good ways to keep their hair under control,” Kurt looked at the PA, “I mean, you know how hair gets, am I right?!” The PA only tutted and went back to writing in her notebook.
“Style Me is a unisex hairdressers. How are you with men?” Carlos asked sounding impatient.
Kurt’s throat closed up. “Uh, you know, g-good.” Kurt mumbled. Kurt was lying; he always got nervous around straight guys. He was scared they would beat him up or worse.
“Ok.” Carlos whispered to his PA, before turning to Kurt. “Yes, you can go now. I will send you a letter saying whether you got the job, or not.”He handed Kurt back his CV. Kurt got up, thanked them and walked out. Blaine got up from his seat.
“Hey, how did it go?” Blaine smiled while taking Kurt’s CV out of his hands.
“Good, I guess. No, he knew I was gay.” Kurt whispered sadly.
“Well surely any male hairdresser is gay!” Blaine said a little too loudly. They walked out of the door and stood outside.
“Look, how do you know?” Blaine asked Kurt when they stepped out into the hot sun.
“He was asking me how I was with the ladies,” Kurt said in the same way Carlos did, “And then he asked me how I was with men. He was giving me really dirty looks.” A stray tear rolled down his cheek. Blaine stopped breathing. It was his fault. If he hadn’t kissed Kurt, then maybe he would have a better chance of getting it. It was his fault.
Thursday!
“Out of my way, Chubs!” Kurt yelled at Finn as he raced to the door. He picked up the mail which had just been dropped off and sorted through it:
“Spam, Carole, Leaflet, Carole, Spam,” He ripped up the spam letters, “Finn,” He threw the letter at Finn, “Kurt!” Kurt smiled triumphantly before rushing into the lounge where Carole and Blaine were.
“I’ve got it!” Kurt said nervously. He sat down next to Blaine who whispered:
“You’re gonna get it!” Kurt opened the letter:
“Boring, boring, doesn’t make sense, “He said as he scanned the letter. His face fell. He stared at the letter. He hadn’t got the job. He sighed.
“Well? Did you get it?” Carole asked excitedly.
“N-no.” A tear leaked out of his right eye which he wiped away angrily.
“Oh my god.” Blaine whispered. He touched Kurt’s trembling arm.
“That’s ridiculous. You had such a good CV, and you’re an amazing hairdresser and you’re-“
“Gay. Carole, that’s why he didn’t give me the job, because of my stupid sexuality.” Kurt shouted angrily before running up to his room.
“I’ll get him.” Blaine walked out the room and ran upstairs. “Kurt? Kurt?” Blaine heard a little sniffle sound and a moan. Blaine smiled.
He walked into the bathroom where Kurt was sitting on the edge of the bathtub. Kurt was staring at the letter.
“Kurt, hey there.” Blaine whispered as he sat down next to him. Kurt looked up at him.
“I can’t believe I didn’t get the job.” Kurt moaned in a quiet voice. Blaine looked back at him; it hurt Blaine inside to see Kurt so upset, so miserable.
“I know.” Blaine understood.
“But it’s just not fair! It’s not my fault I have to be frickin’ bloody gay-“ Blaine put a finger to his lips.
“Don’t ever talk about being gay that way. If you were straight, you wouldn’t have been bullied. You wouldn’t have moved to Dalton, you wouldn’t have met me. I wouldn’t have fallen in love with you. You are lucky to be gay, and I know sometimes it’s hard, but we just have to keep pushing through it all, no matter how hard.” Blaine spoke very silently, so calming.
“I know. I’m just being stupid.” Kurt responded.
“Shh, you’re not stupid. You’re perfect. And besides, who said you can’t have that job?” Blaine smiled gleefully.
“What?” Kurt didn’t get it. He saw the look on Blaine’s face. He had a plan.
At the office!
“WHY DIDN’T YOU GIVE OUR BOY THE JOB?!” Puck yelled at Carlos while Finn circled him evilly.
“I’m sorry. He is just one ball of huge gay!” Carlos yelled back. Finn got hold of his arms and pulled him off his chair.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!?” Puck shrieked at him.
“S-sorry. I’ll give him the job, just please let me go!” Carlos whimpered.
Kurt and Blaine were stood outside the door, in fits of laughter. Kurt took Blaine’s hand in his.
“Thank you, Blaine.” Kurt said staring into his perfect eyes.
“I’ll do anything for you.”
