I Can’t Swim...

“It’s only a party when the host is thrown in the pool!” Sebastian exclaimed at the top of his voice. Blaine’s parents were out of town, so he threw a party. Kurt insisted on no- alcohol because he knew what Blaine got like.

“Ok, guys! It’s not such a big deal!” Blaine shouted out, already with wet clothes as he had been playing around in the pool with his friends from Dalton.

“I meant the host and his boyfriend!” Sebastian looked evilly at Kurt.

“Oh, no. I’m good.” Kurt said quickly. He was lying on the sun lounger in a very expensive looking coat, a t- shirt and some jeans.

“Are you scared, Hummel? Worried about your hair?” Sebastian glared at him.

“Yes! I took 2 hours on it. Please, guys. Please!” Kurt begged.

Then when Kurt wasn’t looking, Sebastian snuck up behind him and pushed him in Blaine’s pool. Kurt went under but didn’t come back up.

“Oh my god! Guys, he’s drowning!” Wes yelled.

Blaine heroically jumped in and after a few tense seconds, emerged with Kurt in his safe arms. He placed Kurt on the side, who was coughing and spluttering.

“Shh, shh. It’s ok. You’re safe now.” Blaine comforted a bewildered beauty while sitting next to him patting and stroking his back. Kurt eventually came back to reality and looked around. All the Warblers were staring intensely at him, some whispering among themselves. Kurt got up and ran into the house.

“Kurt, Kurt! Kurt, wait!” Blaine called out as he chased after his wonderful boyfriend. He stood in the hallway looking for Kurt. Kurt had been here only 3 times as Blaine always insisted on going to Kurt’s house for their ‘dates’ as it felt safer.

He heard faint sobbing coming from the supplies closet, where all the maids keep their cleaning supplies and stuff.

“Kurt? Baby, are you in there?” Blaine asked quietly, walking slowly towards the closet.

“No.” Kurt replied stupidly. Blaine heard Kurt whisper: stupid, stupid, stupid to himself. Blaine slowly twisted the door handle and opened it. Curled up in a ball was a very tearful Kurt. Blaine went in the closet and sat down beside him. He pulled him close and held him for a few seconds.

“What’s wrong sweetie?”Blaine whispered to Kurt.

“I-I can’t swim.” Kurt replied almost silently.

“That’s nothing to be embarrassed about; a lot of people can’t swim.” Blaine explained trying to make him feel better. Kurt sighed sadly.

“No, you don’t know why.” Kurt whispered. Blaine touched his cheek and stroked his hair.

“Tell me.” Blaine murmured quietly into his hair.

Kurt took a deep breath and whispered courage to himself. That’s what he and Blaine did when they were nervous about doing or saying something. It was kinda their thing.

“My mom. She- she… she drowned.” Kurt revealed, tears pouring uncontrollably out of his gorgeous eyes.

“Oh my frickin’ god. Kurt, I’m so sorry.” Blaine couldn’t speak anymore. Why hadn’t Kurt told him before?

“One holiday, we went to the seaside. I was 7 years old, a-and dad was cooking a barbeque and I-I was playing in the sand. My-my mom went out into the sea and didn’t come back. I-I didn’t know what to do. I-I froze up. The life guards got her out, b-but she d-died.” Kurt spoke softly and quietly. He cried into Blaine’s shoulder.

“Shh, shh. It’s alright, I’m here.” Blaine comforted Kurt. It killed him to see Kurt so upset.

“I know.” Kurt sighed back while sobbing into his boyfriend’s shoulder.

The next day

#you make me, feel like-#

“On second, please.” Kurt said to his family who he was eating dinner with. He walked out of the door and answered his phone.

“Hello?”

“Meet me at my house at 4.00.”

“Blaine?”

“Don’t be late.”

Then he hung up.

At Blaine’s house

Blaine was sitting in his car, waiting to see his boyfriend’s face to kidnap him and take him away. He waited patiently until he saw Kurt’s breathtaking face. He had to steady himself as he almost died seeing him. Kurt’s eyes were red and his nose was running. He had been crying.

Kurt stood in the vast driveway.

“Blaine?” He called out, sounding like an idiot.

“Hey, Kurt.” Before Kurt could turn to see his boyfriend, Blaine blindfolded him. Kurt shrieked before laughing.

“Oh, Blainers. What are you doing?” Kurt giggled.

“Oh, we’re going somewhere far, far away.” Blaine whispered in Kurt’s ear so quietly it made Kurt shiver.

After a long and silent 3 minute drive, they arrived. Blaine kept Kurt blindfolded until they got to the place he wanted them to be at. Kurt sniffed the air. He recognized the chlorine smell. He quickly pulled the blindfold of his eyes and looked around.

“No, Blaine, please. No, I want to go please.” He started walking towards the door, but Blaine put his hand on his arm.

“Kurt, please. I’m here, you’ll be safe.” Blaine looked in his eyes. “Please?”

Kurt melted inside, Blaine was so gorgeous.

“Oh, fine, but if I drown, I’m suing you.” Kurt said playfully. Blaine smiled, he handed Kurt some trunks and showed him to the changing rooms.

“What? I am not wearing these.” Kurt whispered angrily to Blaine.

“Come on, you’ll look fine.” Blaine urged him.

10 minutes later, Kurt came out of the changing room wearing the trunks and a black t-shirt he was wearing beforehand.

“I don’t feel comfortable showing my body off to other people.” Kurt told Blaine as he came out and stood next to him. Blaine was sitting on the lounger wearing hot pink trunks.

“Shall we go in then?” Blaine asked him.

“One sec.” Kurt said. “Courage, courage, you can do it.” He whispered to himself. Blaine grinned sheepishly. They climbed in the pool with many comments from Kurt about the temperature of the water.

“Ok. I’m gonna teach you now.” Blaine notified Kurt.

“No, that’s gonna be hard. I’m crap at learning new things.” Kurt moaned to Blaine.

“Come on.” Blaine insisted. Blaine took Kurt’s trembling hand and pulled him into the middle of the deep, blue pool.

“Blaaaaine! Please!” Kurt wailed.

“Shh.” Blaine shushed Kurt. He held him close. “It’s all gonna be ok. I promise.”

“I know.” Kurt replied almost silently back.

“How?” Blaine questioned.

“I’m with you.” Kurt whispered.
