Chapter 28.
Crying over a movie?
I brushed a tear from my face, sneakily. I was doing okay. However, Blaine had taken the plot straight to heart. His muffled sobs were coming from the other side of me.
"No.. she can't." He gasped, hands covering his mouth. "She can't leave him."
I hid a smile into my hand and collected myself. "Popcorn, Blaine?" I asked, offering him the bag.
He took a handful and stuffed his hand into his mouth, only able to munch on a couple of pieces. His eyes were transfixed to the screen, lights dancing in his eyes.
"She can't leave him. What will he do without her?" He whispered.
Thank God it was only us and two other couples at this screening. I leaned closer to him and cuddled into his side.
"She's breaking his heart!" He whined, rubbing the tears that were still staining his cheeks.
"It's only a film.." I teased, poking his arm.
__
The credits rolled up the screen and the lights slowly got brighter.
"Wow." He said.
I laughed.
"Just wow."
I tilted my head at him. "Somebody got into the film."
"Not that much.." He argued as he stood up, brushing himself down of popcorn and looked at me.
"Your puffy red face says otherwise." I giggled.
He picked up his drink. "You don't have a heart!" He accused.
"I do so!" I gasped.
I just hadn't concentrated so much on the film, the feeling of him sitting in the seat next to me had taken up most of my brain cells. I had to keep rubbing my eyes to make sure he was still there, and not a powerful illusion of my mind.
"Do you want to go and clean up?" I asked him.
"Nah." He smiled. "Don't ever let me take you to see a sad film again." He laughed, I could see he was embarrassed.
"What, so you got upset?" I shrugged.
"Let's just hope my boyfriend doesn't do that to me, huh?" He smirked, turning to the door.
Did he really just call me his boyfriend? I felt like I was glowing on the spot. "Boyfriend?" I said, realising it was outloud.
"Kurt, you coming? Or you just going to stand there?"
"Coming!" I cooed.
"Reminiscing on the film, wishing you'd cried now?" He opened the door.
I laughed. "If it makes you feel better, I wiped a tear off my cheek."
He grinned, "I knew it." and shoved my side a little.
"Well Mr Anderson. Where would you like to walk to?"
"Mr Anderson," He mused. "Nice."
I grinned. "What's the time?"
He checked his phone. "Just gone 10."
I nodded.
"Do you have to be back?"
"Yes. But I don't want too; Meaning we are not going back."
He furrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm not ready to leave you yet." I avoided his eye contact.
"If I had a choice. I'd never leave you." He answered.
I breathed and my stomach convulsed with butterflies. Okay he won that round. I blinked, seeing him closing in on me and I closed the gap with our lips touching. I wanted him so much, I wanted to be touching him every second of every day. I wanted him to kiss me every time we'd get close. I fluttered my eyes closed and felt the rush of my breath being taken away from me.
His eyes opening first, looking down at me. We'd stopped kissing.
"That walk?" He said, clearing his throat with a cough.
"There's someone I want you to meet." I said quietly.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, It's not a far walk. Shouldn't be too muddy either. Seeing as we've not had rain for a few days."
"Do they live in a swamp or something?"
"Not exactly." I took his hand pulling him as I walked.
"She's the only person that listens to me."
His eyes gently soaked in mine. "Your mom." He said, with a small nodd.
"Only if you don't mind, I just want her to meet you. I want her to meet the guy that's made me so happy."
"Well I'd be honoured." He smiled.
I was only just about able to breathe when he'd said that.
__
A small squeak escaped my mouth when tumbling over a small ditch in the grass.
"Careful!" Blaine grabbed my arm quickly.
"Thanks...." I laughed, gaining my balance again.
I opened the gate that seperated the field to the graveyard.
"It looks so peaceful..." Blaine whispered.
"Mhm, I sometimes come here for quiet. Or to talk to mom. We're not distracted here. Its the place I come too if I need some time. Dad doesn't even know."
Blaine looked at me, I couldn't see much of his face because of how dark it was, but the whites of his eyes reflected, which gave me the comfort of being listened too.
"And you're allowing me to acompany you. I feel so.. privileged."
I smiled with his words and took his hand, "It's this way. It might be muddy, just depends on how well the earth drank the rain."
"I don't mind getting muddy." He reassured and stayed close behind me.
I'd never really gotten this close before, the thought of being so close but not being able to hug her made my heart sink low. Sickness would rise in my throat. I swallowed rough and stood still. Blaine bumped into me.
"Sorry," He whispered. "Why did we stop..?"
"I don't know if I can get closer." I looked down, "I've not been able to get this close before, I don't know if I can go further."
"Sure you can." Blaine mumbled, I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. I closed my eyes. "With me, we'll take it slow. One step at a time." He comforted, I felt his hand wind into mine, his fingers squeeze tightly.
I struggled a breath through my nose and squeezed my eyes shut, I felt him pull me forward slightly. I let my feet follow him, each pull got a little bit easier.
"Almost there, is it this one?" He asked.
I opened my eyes a little. "Mmhmm.." I whispered, feeling my throat tighten. He looked back around at me, before kneeling down.
"Hello Mrs. Hummel. It's so nice to meet you." He said to the stone. "Kurt has told me so much about you. He's found it a little hard to get here, but he is." He turned and reached for my hand, I took it and he helped me kneel down beside him.
"Hi mom," I whispered, not realising how weak my voice was. The gold engraving reflected the slight light from the moon. "I'm sorry I've not been around in a while," I reached for the headstone, keeping my hand over the cold pattern. "I've been trying to sort things out. Trying to sort things out to make you proud."
I looked at Blaine, he was staring at the stone with pure concentration. "This is Blaine," I said, I felt him move a little. "He's.." I stopped. I saw Blaine turn to me, "He's my boyfriend." I said, it felt so good to say it. I heard him chuckle. "Yep, I found someone who puts up with me." I smiled a bit.
Blaine moved closer to me. "Dad's not very pleased though. He really wanted me to be on the football team. Sort him out will you?"
Blaine laughed, probably at the image of me trying to kick a ball.
"Dad misses you, he misses you a lot. I know he doesn't visit, but he's just struggling with coming to terms with it. You know?"
I waited, the wind blew and I felt chills go over my body. I shivered. Blaine took his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders, I pulled him closer and put half of it over him.
"I miss you too," I breathed. "I keep waking up and thinking you'll be cooking breakfast. Ready for the morning rant. You know, when we used to team up on dad?" I sighed, "But you're never there. And its always dad teaming up on me/" I felt my voice break.
Blaine pulled me closer to him. "Shhh..." He whispered.
"She knows," I moved my hands over his shirt, the warmth spreading through my finger tips. "I don't know how I got so lucky." I mumbled.
His hand moved to my face and cupped it to look directly at him.
"You, Kurt Hummel. Do not see yourself in the same light that I see you in." I rubbed away the tears that were forming in my eyes. "You are beautiful."
No one had ever called me beautiful. I'd heard the words so many times but I never thought it could make you feel like this.
"Really?" I didn't know what to say, all that came out of my mouth was questions.
He didn't reply, his lips were over mine in a second, a fuzzy warm feeling ran through my body, his thumbs gently rubbed over my cheeks. I deepened the kiss by moving forward, closer to him. I put my hands around his neck, opening my eyes. His were closed. I smiled into the kiss, feeling him smile back.
"You're watching me aren't you?" He whispered a cheeky smile on his face.
"No, what makes you think that?" I asked, feeling my cheeks blush. Thank god for it being dark.
"I could feel it."
"A quick glance, that was all." I tilted my head at him.
"Though I bet you've done that yourself." He looked down, trying to hide his smile.
"Busted." I laughed, pushing him a bit.
He lent up on his hand.
"Jeesh, you can see so many stars.." He whispered. I looked up also,
"Oh, yeah." his hands grabbed me from behind dragging me backwards,
"Ew!" I gasped, feeling the cold mud seep through my shirt. "That better come out.." I mentioned, looking at him.
He smiled and my panic seemed to vanish.
"Or I could just buy another." He nodded.
"Sneaky though." I pointed out.
"Mhm." He smiled, leaning back on his hands, looking back up at the stars. I shuffled backwards and followed his gaze.
"You know how I think of stars?" I mumbled.
"How?"
"They're just small windows." I whispered, "And the people you've lost are looking down at us." I felt him looking at me.
"That has to be the cutest thing I've heard anyone say." I blushed. "Also a nice way to think about it.." He added, I laughed.
"Nice cover up."
"Yeah, it didn't sound very cool did it?"
"Mer, I like this Blaine." I smiled, kissing his cheek. "I like any Blaine."
