Chapter 11.
A Visit to Remember.
"Hey there, Kurt." The guy said, he raised an eyebrow at my outfit.
"Good evening." I nodded, shaking his hand.
"Kurt." I turned to see Dad frowning at me. "Why are you wearing that?"
"I thought it would be chilly so I stuck on a scarf, it goes nice with my shirt. Don't you think?" I said down and crossed one leg over the other.
"I'll go get us some beers." Dad said to his friend.
I smiled as he passed and watched his friend sit opposite me.
"So does your dad let you drink, Kurt?"
"Sometimes, I have a cherry boppe.r" I nodded. "I don't drink a lot, it goes straight to your hips." I lent closer, "That's why dad's not skinny." my voice a hushed whisper.
He turned as my dad walked in, I sat back and checked my nails in the light.
"Do you know when Stacy is getting here?" Dad asked.
"Who's Stacey?" I tilted my head.
"A friend." Dad answered.
"That and more, if he gets lucky." His friend winked his way.
I shot my eyes to my dad. "Dad?" I asked.
"Yes, Kurt?"
"Do you know Stacy?"
"I've met her once." He replied.
"Where?"
"When we went out that other night." He indicated to his friend.
"Are you dating her?" a slight frown touched my face.
"I.."
His friend chuckled.
I frowned more. "But dad, what about mom?"
"Your mom's dead." His friend said.
That comment made me boil in seconds, I could have punched him in the face.
"He's joking." Dad sighed.
"Funny. I don't seem to be laughing." I said blankly.
"Your dad is allowed to see other women, he's not married anymore."
I stood up.
"Don't you dare talk down to my mom like that."
"Kurt sit down." Dad told.
"She had a hold on your dad, now the guards down.. he's free."
"Shut up!" I snapped. "You don't know her!"
"Kurt.." Dad sighed loudly
I looked at him.
"How can you let him talk about mom like that? Dad, you loved her.."
He swallowed. "Can we talk about it tomorrow?"
"Forget it." I said shortly, my foot collided with the sofa. The anger was spurting out out of me, turning on my heels and rushing out of the room..
"Kurt!" Dad shouted after me.
I slammed the back door and walked out into the garden. My throat closed up with emotion. I breathed rough, trying to gasp for air.
Blaine:
Thanks for today, Kurt. It meant a lot x
I sniffed holding onto my phone tighter. Rachel wasn't the person to talk too right now.
Kurt:
Can you meet me? I really need to talk to someone.
Blaine:
Where? I'll come now.
I was surprised with the quick reply.
I texted him my address.
Blaine:
I'm on my way. x
__
"Kurt" I heard his voice, first.
I swallowed and wiped my eyes of the tears as I walked quickly to the gate. Opening it, he raised an eyebrow.
"Kurt" He said sadly.
I tried to wipe more moisture from my face with the ends of my sleeves, but the hot tears continued to drip down my cheeks. "Ignore the tears.. I just needed to talk to someone" I mumbled, ashamed with myself.
I closed the gate and he hovered next to me.
"Of course" he smiled, the concern not vanishing. He looked around the garden and pointed. "Well that bench looks like a nice spot."
I shrugged and followed him to the bench, we sat. Silence followed. Only the sound of the wind rushing through the trees behind us. I noticed how his hair didn't move, just stayed perfectly in place. Way too much gell, it looked like he'd put more on. How ever my hair brushed my face slightly.
"Kurt" He turned to his right, facing me.
"He's already dating." I whispered. "Dad" I said to his look. "My dad is already dating someone else. No one can compare to my mum" I inhalted deeply, and sighed.
"He's going too. Can you expect him to be on his own all his life?"
"He's in denial. He's not ready.." I paused. "I'm not ready.
"Do you ever think that you will be ready?"
I shrugged and looked down at my dangling feet. "Maybe.. just not yet"
There was more silence. I sniffed and fresh tears stained my face.
"Oh Kurt" He whispered.
"I feel so lost" My voice croaked, my head fallign into my hands.
I felt the heat of him on me as his arms wrapped around me, from either side. His chest cosy, I lent against it and clutched my fingers onto the cotton, burying my head down. The cries no longer able to be contained, I sounded horrbile. It'd been a while since I'd cried like this.
His grip tightened. "Look at me" He said. "Kurt look at me"
I turned my head up, his hazel eyes were soft. "Don't talk like that. Do not let them beat you." He licked his lips, "You are you, and that person is very special. There is no one else like you."
I blinked the tear that was hanging on the edge of my eyelid down my face.
"Have a bit of courage in yourself" He whispered, wiping that tear away from my face.
"I know it's not easy, but trust me.. You're going to go somewhere in your life. You're going to laugh about this."
His voice wasn't loud, but it had some sort of sterness in it that made me listen.
I bit the inside of my cheek. He'd stopped talking and silence was over us again. Comfortable silence, I was just looking at him. Those beautiful hazel eyes so endearing. I moved my eyes down to his lips, firm and in place. I swallowed and moved a tiny bit closer, our noses inches from each other. I waited for a second, to see if he pulled away. He didn't.
Forwarding to close the gap. He spoke. "I need to go. Said I'd be home by Eleven"
I stopped in midtracks.
"Okay" I nodded.
He removed his arms from my shoulders and stood up. "Please don't give up." He said as we walked towards the gate.
"There is no promise I can make right now" I whispered, trying to avoid his eyes.
His arms tugged me into a hug again.
"Kurt." I heard dad's voice shout from the back door. "Who's that?" He walked swiftly over.
We broke the hug, "Just a friend" I replied.
He eyed up Blaine. "You should head home, its late"
"I was just leaving sir." He nodded, pausing. "You've a lovely garden" He smiled.
Dad just stared at him, seeing the anger in his eyes. "See you tomorrow" I mumbled to Blaine.
His lips turned up into a small smile. "Yeah you will"
I opened the gate for him, and closed it behind him.
______
"Well he seemed on the other side of the fense" Dad said.
"What do you mean?"
"Did you see what he was wearing?"
"Yes. I happen to like what he wears, He's trendy but in a smart way."
"He bent?"
"What?"
"you know? does he swing the other way?"
"I think the term you're looking for is gay, farther. And to be quite honest I'm sick of your homophobia."
"Hey, hey" He laughed. "You've got it all wrong, I was only joking"
"Yeah, well those jokes aren't very funny" I went to the stairs, "Night"
_______
I sat on the end of my bed, and lay back against the pillows. My dad thought I was a joke, everyone at school thought I was a joke. I'd just tried to kiss Blaine. Was I demented? I stretched my neck, the tight feeling ran over me, anger. I leaned on my pillow and grabbed my laptop.
