Chapter 8.

"Guys!" Sebastian shouted. He jogged up to catch up with them.

Kurt sipped his drink and looked over at him, Blaine automatically putting an arm around his waist.

"Yes, Sebastian?" Blaine sighed.

"Was wondering. So I might have been a bit of a jerk in the past.."

"Might?" Blaine asked.

"A bit of a jerk?" Kurt continued, tilting his head skeptically.

"I get your point. I just think I need to make it up to you two."

"We're not interested." Blaine pushed Kurt away.

"Just dinner." Sebastian said after them. "I'll cook us all a nice dinner and don't worry. I've got a date. So there will be nothing bad involved. Just a few guys getting some things out in the open. Try and push past it all?"

"He sounds genuine." Kurt mumbled, looking over at Blaine.

"He always does. Doesn't mean he'll pull through with it."

"I am honestly being true to my word. The guy wearing the blue jumper. I'm seeing him. We've been seeing each other for a few weeks now."

The pair of them followed his gaze and rose an eyebrow at the greeting.

"If we come to dinner and we don't enjoy it, do you promise to leave us alone?" Kurt sighed.

"Yes."

"Don't be silly. He doesn't do promises." Blaine snarled, shaking his head..

"Shake on it." He put his hand out. "Shake on it and promise to keep your word." Kurt extended his hand towards him.

He tilted his head and smirked, taking Kurt's hand. "Deal." He showed his his teeth as he spoke.

Kurt let go of his hand first, looking away with disgust. "Come on." He said to Blaine, linking his arm into his.

"Tomorrow at 8." Sebastian says after them, "Dress properly for the occasion."

"He doesn't do promises." Blaine says when they enter the house.

"We shook on it." Kurt shrugged his shoulders, hanging up his coat.

"And you think a simple handshake is going to settle things?"

"Blaine. What more could I have done? We keep saying no to him and he keeps coming back with different ideas. At least this way we can get it over and done with and just be together."

Blaine frowned, moving away from Kurt quietly.

"Now don't go moody." Kurt sighed.

"You just don't know him like I do.."

"I know him quite well actually. I know how mean he can be.."

He cracked open a can of coke and sat down next to Kurt. "He can be melicious. He's so much more than mean.."

"Well like I said, nothing is breaking us apart." Kurt smiled and kissed him gently.

__

Kurt woke up to the phone ringing.

"Who ever it is, tell them to go away. " Blaine looked at the alarm clock and then to his phone.

"Rachel." Kurt groaned into the phone.

"Did you get it?"

"Get what?"

"The letter,"

Kurt opened his eyes putting her on speaker with a click of the button. "Hang on.. I've haven't checked the mail yet."

With that Blaine looked up, and jumped out of bed going to fetch the letters. He returned with two letters, handing one over to Kurt.

"I shouldn't be this nervous. It's not like it's NYADA." Kurt whispered.

"It's a big deal." Rachel squeals. "Okay, on three."

Kurt teared the envelope open, taking out the  precious letter. He unfolded it and scanned the piece of paper until the word in bold stuck out to him. He breathed.

"What does yours say?" He asked Blaine.

"I got through, you?"

Kurt nodded and squealed, his back meeting the headstand of the bed. "We all made it." He grinned, excitement dancing in his eyes.

Rachel was already squealing on the other line, Blaine held out his arms wide and hugged him tightly. A glow of happiness slowly sparked all around them.

__

Kurt walked through the main school doors the next day, smiling, confident. Blaine was talking to him about the song choice, but Kurt searched his face, analyzing the emotion on it, The way he was looking at him and the excitement behind his eyes, made him stare in awe.

A cold, searing pain shot across his face, traveling down his neck and into his clothes. His mouth partially opened and he was randomly getting forced into the side of the lockers with a rough shove.

"Hey!" Blaine shouted.

"This is between me and the gay." Karofsky growled as he appeared, his eyes glaring at Kurt.

He could taste the flavour of the slushy which he'd normally like. "What is it?" Kurt sighed, trying to sound more confident.

"Let him go." Blaine demanded with a hint of toxin sitting in his tone, firmly smashing a hand into his shoulder.

Karofsky shrugged him off as if it was nothing.

"I'm sick of seeing his smug little face." He said through sharp teeth.

Kurt blinked in ridiculousness. "David, you're not making any sense."

"Don't call me that." His grip got tighter.

"Yo Karofsky, I suggest you get your hands of Kurt before I pull them out of their sockets." Puck said as he stood behind Blaine, arms folded against his chest.

Blaine was looking at Kurt. He knew Kurt hated violence, and looked away. "Can we talk about this in a better manner?"

"Faggotm" Karofsky snarled into Kurt's face.

Blaine had enough. To everyone's surprise, Blaine grabbed him by the shirt and forced him up the yellow lockers himself. "It's people like you that make this world an ignorant place."

He stood back and took Kurt's hand, removing himself from the situation.

"Blaine, you don't have to do this." Kurt whispered, cleaning his face with a wet tissue.

He didn't reply, going into his bag to pull out a comb and dragged it through his hair, combing through the knots from the syrup.

"Blaine?"

He sighed.

"Blaine, you're shaking."

"It just gets me so mad." He said quietly.

"What does?"

"That people do that to you."

"How people treat us, it makes us stronger." Kurt pursed his lips.

Blaine remained silent, keeping his eyes focused on the floor.

"Which is why we've got each other. To fight with."

He smiled wide, gently kissing his lips. "You're all sticky." He chuckled.
