Chapter 4: Floor Show
Blaine spent most of the day looking at his choices for a blazer and practicing dance moves, Isabelle said he had to be at her house by eight. Blaine peered out his window from time to time and saw different cheerleaders leaving with a range of makeup looks. He took a shower only an hour before he had to head over to Isabelle's since she had a certain process to go through with his curls so she could be able to tame them.
Blaine peered at the clock, seven forty eight; he shrugged and headed downstairs. Once he stepped out the door he saw Kurt's navigator leaving Isabelle's driveway, he sighed and walked over. He didn't bother to knock since Isabelle was expecting him and this time her little sister Irene sat on the stair's eating gummy bears and humming.
"Hi Irene is Isabelle almost ready?" He as the little girl softly, she lifted up her head and held out a red gummy bear.
"For me?" He asked with a giggle she simply nodded, he took it from her hand and popped it in his mouth and smiled.
"Blaine is that you?" He heard Isabelle yell from up the stairs.
"Yeah, are you decent? Can I come up?" He shouted back.
"Uhm just give me a minute, Irene show Blaine your school project I think he'll like it!" Irene suddenly stood when Isabelle brought up her project. She grabbed Blaine's hand and pulled him to the living room and over to a small desk on top was a collage of multiple pictures of diamonds and jewelry.
"The project was to put a bunch of stuff I want on paper." Irene whispered here hand grasping Blaine's. Blaine giggled who would think such a small girl had such expensive taste? Blaine looked over the desk once more spotting a picture frame with s photo of Isabelle and she looked…different. Her hair was long past her shoulders, her face had no makeup at all, and she as much much thinner. Blaine thought it was someone else for moment until he saw Isabelle's birthmark on her collarbone, she was in a white dress with a single rose in her hand.
"That was Izzy's June dance." Irene whispered to his almost so quiet he couldn't hear her.
"Blaine!" suddenly Isabelle appeared and slammed the picture face down, Blaine looked at her confusedly.
"C'mon we have to do your hair and mask, Irene go play with your dolls." She said hastily before pulling Blaine up the stairs.
Blaine now sat still as Isabelle airbrushed color over his eyes but the curiosity of why she freaked about the photo was killing him.
"So uhm you looked really young…in that picture." He said slowly, his eyes remained closed.
"That's because I was younger." Isabelle's voice was cold obviously that picture held more than an old image of Isabelle's youth.
"I'm done." Her voice was now cheerful and excited.
Blaine opened his eyes and looked in the vanity mirror, there was a stripe of red over his eyes with a thing gold outline, there were small musical notes under his eyes with gold lines underneath, and his cheekbones were dusted with gold shimmer.
"Isabelle this…wow, its great!" He stood up and hugged his friend.
"I'm glad you like it, now your hair and makeup is done I have to get dressed so just wait here." She gestured for him to sit back down and walked out of the room and into the hallway bathroom.
Moments later Isabelle slowly stepped into the room Blaine looked at her closely, her dress black and white striped, was knee length and it actually fit her shape well, the sleeves were up to her elbows and it had a slight v-neck. Her hair was braided to the side and her makeup was applied heavily but well as usual, she wore a pair of converse and scrunched up fishnet socks. She looked great everything about the outfit screamed Isabelle, in her hand she held a black mask with silver tear drop jewels dangling of the edges.
"You look great Isabelle." Blaine smiled warmly at his friend.
"Why thank you kind sir I do believe it's going on nine thirty so we better get going." She chuckled
Before they stepped out Blaine peered at Irene sitting at the desk gluing more pictures of jewels on a poster board.
"Hey what about your sister we can't leave her here alone." He whispered as Isabelle grabbed her purse.
"Oh my mom is upstairs she'll be fine." She responded and pulled him out the door.
The car ride was a half hour and when they finally got to the house there were already dozens of cars parked on the front lawn. When they finally walked in the house they looked around half of everyone there was already drunk and it was hilarious.
"Dance?" Blaine offered Isabelle she smiled and chuckled and in the end took his hand. Do it like a Dude by Jessie J was playing and Isabelle was doing multiple silly dance moves and l clapped at Blaine's very enthusiastic dancing. They were both having a good time everything was fine, if only they know that a very drunk and annoyed group of popular kids were propped in the corner plotting something for Isabelle.
"Hey I'm gonna go outside and get some fresh air you think can grab me a beer?" Isabelle yelled over the blasting music.
"Sure I'll join you in sec." Blaine nodded and headed towards the drink table as Isabelle walked out the back door.
Blaine grabbed an empty cupped and poured some coke for him and grabbed a cool can of Heineken for Isabelle, he slowly started pushing through the crowds until he heard something frightening.
"Put me down! Let me go I swear to- Ugh let go!" It was Isabelle yelling so loud it floated over the laughing teenagers and music, Blaine instantly went into panic mode and dropped the drinks and began sprinting past the dancing teens.
When Blaine finally managed to get into the back yard and think group of teens surrounded a corner of the outside pool.
"What the hell Kurt? Tell your monkeys to put me down dammit!" Isabelle's shrieks radiated through the yard and pass the crowd Blaine started shoving his way through. Once he got to a point he could seem he blood ran a bit cold, two large jocks were now dangling Isabelle over the deep end of the pool and Kurt along with a few other cheerios stood at the opposite side.
"Isabelle you know what bugs me about you? The amount of makeup you wear I mean you really cake it on! The first time I saw you I thought you were a voluntary clown coming to school to get an education." Kurt chuckled and his gang of cheerleaders giggled behind him.
Blaine tried to run over to the jocks but a strong arm stopped him, it was Puck.
"Dude don't." He warned his arm still holding Blaine back.
"What the hell Puck she's your friend!" Blaine yelled in his face.
Puck looks guiltily at his feet and sighed.
"You dumb jocks and your fucking pride and your stupid reputations!" Blaine was steaming.
"You know Izzy I think it's time you wash off just a bit of that makeup huh? What do you guys think?" Kurt turned to the crowd with smirk.
An orchestra of approving yells roared from the group Blaine was still fighting against stiff bodies watching it all happen.
"Why are you doing this?" Isabelle cried she looked scared to death.
"I just told you, you wear way to makeup." Kurt giggled
"Well boys, what are you waiting for help her get the makeup off!" a blond cheerio yelled from behind him. Blaine was literally only inches away when the two jocks let Isabelle plop into the pool; the crowd erupted in laughs as she fought to swim to the surface. Finally Blaine pushed past everyone and ran over to the pool. Isabelle floated up gasping for air and whimpering she immediately swam over to the edge and gripped onto it like it was for dear life.
Blaine saw red when he saw Kurt laughing at the whimpering mess that was his best friend; he charged around the pull and tackled Kurt to the ground.
"What. The. Hell!" Blaine yelled at him.
"Get off of me!" Kurt fought and then laughed a bit at Blaine. Blaine pulled Kurt to his feet by his collar,
"Why the hell did you do that she never did anything to you!" Blaine shouted he could still hear Isabelle coughing and whimper on the other side of the pool.
"Calm down crazy it was just a joke!" Kurt yelled back.
"Just a- Just a joke? Humiliating someone for your own entertainment! What the fuck with wrong with you!" Blaine pushed him aside not noticing he pushed the cheerio into the pull, he ran to Isabelle.
She was shaking so Blaine pulled off his blazer and wrapped it around her trembling shoulders. Blaine was about to ask Isabelle is she was okay but a familiar feeling splashed over him, literally. A bully hovered over him slowly pouring a slushy over his head and chuckling he fell back a little at the shock. His eyes started to sting but he simply wiped what he could away to help Isabelle stand up.
"Tumbles I'm going to make your life a living hell for this!" Kurt turned around to see Kurt pushing himself out of the pool. Kurt ignored the rest of his shouts and began to walk Isabelle away from the commotion.
"I-I-I can walk its okay." Isabelle whimpered and slightly pulled from Blaine's hold.
They now sat in the car as Isabelle warmed herself up and tried to stop shaking, she was able to drive fortunately. Soon enough Isabelle dozed off; of course she would be worn out from what all just happened. Blaine looked at her closely, her concealer was now rinsed away and her mascara dripped down her face, but Blaine noticed something a bit odd. On Isabelle's left cheek were three scars and they were perfect thin lines and were a dark brown compared to her complexion. Blaine sighed and decided she could stay in his room so she would have to be alone, he picked her up and brought her to his room, it wasn't easy but he did it.
Once she we lying in the heap of blankets he called a bed he walked downstairs to get some water instead he was met face to face with his mother.
"Blaine do you know what time it is?"
