"Kurt, can we go for a walk?"
Blaine watched as Kurt turned to look up at him, cocking an eyebrow questioningly. He snuggled in closer to him, smiling contentedly as the newly installed hammock swung gently back and forth.
"Why? It's so comfy right here. "
Blaine was tempted to give in, but he had a plan. No amount of wide eyed pleading would change that.
He wrapped his arms tighter around Kurt and kissed him right where his neck met his shoulder, gently trailing his lips along the juncture. Kurt murmured soft sounds of contentment, loving Blaine more with every second.
Their eyes met, golden and azure, and Blaine kissed him sweetly on the lips.
"Please?"
Kurt smiled, and nodded. They tumbled out of the hammock, onto the deck, and Blaine led Kurt into the yard.
They held hands, Blaine's head on Kurt's shoulder, as they meandered across the yard. Blaine started singing quietly, turning their movements into a waltz as his voice threw out the simple melody into the air. Everything was golden as they slow-danced underneath an oak tree, from the autumn leaves to the setting sunlight.
When the song ended, Kurt stared at Blaine breathlessly. Time was still moving slowly, the moments crystallizing around them, as Blaine dropped onto one knee.
Kurt gasped, hands flying up to his mouth in surprise. He stared at the boy in front of him, smiling sweetly, curls wild, taking Kurt's hands into his own.
If Blaine was ever nervous, it melted away the instant he saw Kurt's face. Shocked, but happy, and so astonishingly lovely that it stole Blaine's breath away. He trembled as he looked into Kurt's eyes, and tried to remember the speech he had worked so hard to write, but it was slipping away quickly as he lost himself in Kurt, so he went with what he knew best.
"I've been looking for you forever. "
Kurt laughed, just a little. Blaine smiled too, ducking his head for a moment.
"It's just as corny today, seven years later. "
Kurt nodded.
"But it's also just as true. I was always looking for you, someone who would love me just for being me. Someone who is smarter, and funnier, and handsomer than any other man on earth. What I didn't know I was looking for was someone who has an hour long skincare regime, and a birthmark right above his hip, and a weakness for Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum. Someone who designs the most original clothes on the planet, and who is stronger than anyone I know. "
Kurt sniffed, tears streaming down his face.
"Kurt, if I lived to be a thousand years old, I would never meet anyone who feels as passionately as you do, or who I feel as passionately about. I promise I will always love you, no matter what.
I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to spend my life loving you, and making you feel as perfect, and as special, as I have always known you are.
Blaine pulled out a small velvet box from Tiffany's that he had bought a year ago in New York.
"Kurt Elizabeth Hummel, will you marry me?"
Kurt tackled Blaine off of his knees and onto the ground, kissing him furiously. Blaine pulled away, gasping for breath, arms around Kurt's neck.
"Is that a yes?"
And Kurt had given him one last kiss underneath the oak tree before nodding, a huge smile on his face.
"Yes. Of course I'll marry you!"
And they had stayed out underneath the old tree all night, not worrying about anything, because the moment was too perfect to ever lose.
