Kurt shook his head, turning on the bench to pull his leg up to rest on the cushion. “You can’t keep bottling things up, Blaine. I’ve done that before and honestly, it helps to talk to someone before it gets too much…” The brunet’s eyebrows were furrowed carefully, eyes watching Blaine’s expression carefully before sighing and returning to his previous position, sitting straight on to the piano. “I’m not saying you have to talk about it now or even with me but… Just please, if it’s something you even ‘kind of want to’ talk about, then go talk to a tree or a cat or just anything to get it off your chest - Okay?”
Kurt let his fingers trail along the keys again, lightly pressing one down so it made no noise at all. He knew exactly what it was like to bottle things up, hell he’d done it and it’d nearly destroyed him completely. He let out a deep breath, replacing it slowly before gently smiling. No one had ever played or sang something solely for him and while half of him was warning him that this could go disastrously wrong and mess with his emotions further, he couldn’t help but feel flattered and curious all at the same time. “What do you want to play?” Kurt’s voice was quiet, gently and encouraging, still letting his fingers drift over the keys lightly to distract himself from the situation and prevent his smile widening further.
Blaine shook his head, “Don’t be, really,” he said, knowing full well that there was no way it was even remotely Kurt’s fault. If it was anyone’s fault it was his own, simply because he just couldn’t move on. But that’s where the bottling up came to play, because he had done nothing but hide all of those pains and hardships, and stored them away so nobody really knew much about him. The only thing was this had literally been going on since the beginning of high school…and even Blaine knew it was starting to catch up on him and wear him down. Maybe he just didn’t want to rub off the wrong way, or he didn’t want to have some serious meltdown in front of probably the best friend, or at least most welcoming one he had. But things were certainly getting more difficult, and he knew that sooner or later he’d probably have to tell someone…and some part of him knew that Kurt would be there for him when he wanted to share that painful piece of his own little history.
Blaine raised a barely noticeable eyebrow when his friend turned on the seat towards him, and he felt the urge to do the same until he heard what he had to say. He turned his body a little bit, so that his knee closest to Kurt was touching the edge of the bench, it was more of a habit then anything, especially since he seemed so careful and grounded about his personal bubble…though he had to admit that the actor seemed a little more comfortable with him about it, which made him assume it could only be a good thing. Nonetheless Blaine kept his eyes softly on Kurt, nodding a little when he turned back away from him, “I know…I guess I just feel like if I try to hide from it long enough then it’ll just go away with time,” he lowered his eyes a little and turned back to the piano. “I’ll try…though I don’t know when or how…” but maybe when I feel like I’m not the only vulnerable one here then I’ll let it out.
Blaine watched Kurt’s fingers as they hovered over the keys, his fascination getting the better of his attention as he tried to think about what to say. He lightly licked his lips and finally felt his attention to Kurt’s fingers falter when he noticed him smiling. Out of habit Blaine reciprocated the smile and turned back to the keys as he pushed his sleeves further up his arms and past his elbows. He paused for a moment, giving himself a few seconds to simply just calm down and relax. Once he felt like he wasn’t so clouded and confused he lifted his hands to rest on the keys once more, absentmindedly playing the intro the his song loud enough to barely be heard, but softly enough so it didn’t distract him from his explanation. “This song I wrote…in high school. It actually originally was for the same friend you remind me of,” he said as he glanced over at him shortly before returning to the piano again, his fingers still moving along the keys as he played the intro, “But I changed a little…okay maybe a lot, but…and I apologize if I go just a little far…but sometimes I feel like you and I are more in the same boat then you initially let on. And I kind of get the feeling that you’re not quite as well put together as you’d like to make everyone else think you are…but Kurt…” he paused his playing, and turned to look at his friend, “Just listen to this song, okay?”
