The musician slipped his free hand into his dress pants pocket, taking in a light breath at yet another compliment…if he keeps this up I’m going to be a blushing fool. Blaine slipped his hand from the usual comfort zone to run the back of his fingers along his cheek casually, pretending like he wasn’t purposely trying to hide the light color of red to his normally lightly tanned skin. “Yes, well Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart are a couple of my classic favorites, I also have a few more modern favorites such as Maroon 5, Katy Perry, John Mayer, The Fray…I could probably go on forever, but Adam Levine and Katy Perry top the list most easily, and John Mayer and The Fray are sort of just in my realm for song writing and instrumental pieces that I can’t help but share a love for them as well. Lady Gaga on the other hand…” he smiled knowingly, “…though I do remember you mentioning her once before I find it a little funny that she’d be your favorite, I’d always assume you’d like one of the more classical Broadway stars like Barbra Streisand or Patti Lupone.” Blaine lightly closed his mouth, realizing that he was rambling…again. But sometimes it was hard not to with just how comfortable and easy it felt to simply have a conversation with Kurt. Usually he wasn’t much of a talker, but the man never once judged a thing he said, and knowing that the actor really was all that genuine really made it difficult for him not to want to share certain things…as ridiculous and silly as they made him seem.
The musician tilted his head once more, smiling affectionately at the tone in the taller man’s voice when he said he was excited, thus only making the feeling of seeing his first Broadway musical - with a special someone - that more enticing. Once he had helped Kurt into the passenger seat and climbed into the driver’s side with the car turned on he ran a couple soft fingers through his hair, messing with an untamed strand of hair that seemed to be curling more then all the other ones. Blaine moved the rearview mirror down and over so he could get a look at this unhelpful semi-curl, pushing it back into place in hopes that it would stay. When it didn’t seem to budge he returned the mirror to his original spot and turned somewhat in his seat towards Kurt. He lightly shook his head, “No, not really, most Jeeps don’t at least.” Blaine placed a hand against the armrest, glancing out the window once at the man’s question before returning his gaze and shrugged his shoulders, “I’m not too sure actually…but it has been getting colder, hasn’t it?” he smiled the slightest bit as his eyes easily fell into the familiarly shocking blue ones, the faded green splashed along as if the color were some sort of beautifully clean sea-color.
Blaine could feel that similar impulse again, the one to slowly and hesitantly lean across the car, his eyes poised on Kurt’s while his arm snaked across the back of his seat. The one where he moved his face so close to the actor’s that he could feel his breath on his lips while his eyes roamed their proximity breach…”Can I be honest with you?” he asked, that slight timid tone easily recognizable as he looked away from Kurt. His eyes flicked over the clock in the Jeep, and he realized that he probably didn’t have time for the things he wanted to say, especially since he knew Kurt would most likely end up having to ask a question seeing as how Blaine tended to be a little vague and all. “Actually…nevermind,” he muttered as he turned to the steering wheel, pausing for a moment as if he couldn’t remember how to start the car…it’s already started, moron. He mentally shook his head and put a hand on the gear changer, hesitating once more as the thoughts came flooding back, pestering his mind and forcing him to shutdown for a moment. It wasn’t that big of a deal…so he didn’t understand why he was having so much trouble functioning as his hand held onto the stick, not budging even the slightest bit. The musician knew they should be going, and he would have pulled it into drive if he felt like he could remember exactly how to…but something in his subconscious just wasn’t allowing to happen, clearly it wanted him to say something.
Kurt couldn’t help but smile to himself a little at the small revelation. So Blaine was nervous too? That was a slight relief since Kurt himself was boarder lining on breakdown just before, trying to convince himself that this was a terrible idea and that friends was good, friends was great, who needed to date? He’d acted on his impulse wish to kiss him, so there that was that. Except that was a lie, because now it was hard to stop himself from just pressing their lips together again softly just to remind himself of the feel, the sensation, how everything felt at that precise moment over and over again. Then again he never did act on impulse unless he was completely sure it wasn’t going to end badly. Until then, friends who occasional went on non-date dates and may hold hands or very rarely kiss and give eachother flowers and compliment with hints of flirting on occasion whilst sharing their interests and working through the difficulties of the past would definitely be fine. Kurt could most surely live with that, since he did not date. Kurt raised his eyebrows gently as he heard Blaine talking about music, sensing and witnessing the passionate outburst with complete fondness in his own expression. He loved when people were truly passionate about a subject, it made them far more interesting - especially if it had some mutual grounds with his own interests and who could deny that Kurt really did love music? He hummed in agreement before shrugging lightly. “Don’t get me wrong, I adore Barbra and Patti and Lea and Idina and Kristen and Rosario and so many amazing fabulous Broadway divas - I mena most of my audition pieces are things that these amazing women had sung because I do completely adore them. I just find Lady GaGa… interesting and captivating.”
Kurt took another look along the dashboard of the car before patting down his trousers carefully and worrying his bottom lip between his teeth. “I suppose. Although it could be helped, you know? My dad always suggests inner covers for the hood to insulate although personally, I quite liked the idea of having an external one with a bit more personality. Then again, any excuse to personalize something and I’m game.” The actor laughed a little before relaxing back into his seat. He did miss working at the garage, not for the actual work, but just because that was home. He’d worked there since he was eight pretty much, just helping, handing his dad the tools occasionally until he was taught and ran the garage two days a week when his dad needed a rest. It wasn’t something he enjoyed, but he didn't it for his dad, because his dad meant everything to him and he felt like he owed him the little things occasionally. Kurt hummed, ripping his gaze from Blaine’s to prevent yet more blushing since he finally had just gotten his cheeks to something he could blame on the coldness of the weather. “I’ll have to be breaking out my collection of winter coats soon if it continues like this…” Kurt added idly, glancing around before letting his hand trail lazily over the dashboard. “It’s a really nice car you have actually, I’m impressed. Not that I judge by cars, because I knew someone with this really ratty old Impala which sounds like it would be somewhat interesting and, for lack of a better word, cool, but it was just hideous. Especially since it was bright orange. That one I judged.”
Kurt held his breath as Blaine shifted closer, locking their gaze together until Blaine broke it and began to move away. The actor’s hand quickly flew up to gently press against Blaine’s bicep as his eyebrows pulled together softly in concern and he tilted his head gently to the side. This change, this timidness and unsure version of Blaine was tugging endlessly on Kurt’s heart strings as he rubbed his hand up and down on the musician’s arm before running it down to his hand and prizing it away from the gear stick. “It does matter, you can tell me anything.” Kurt shifted in his chair so he was sat right on the edge facing Blaine completely, holding his hand loosely over the console. They had a few minutes before they really did have to get going, so if Blaine had something to say which he clearly really wanted to, then Kurt wasn’t going to panic about being late - since considering he’d factored the time of departure so they would in fact be at least twenty minutes early - that much he could spare since he knew the show wouldn’t actually start until a little while after that.
