Kurt tilted his head lightly at Blaine, smiling encouragingly at him. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sit next to Blaine, the problem was that he did and he thought the casual wander across would have been less obvious than getting up straight away. The brunet swung his leg lightly, feeling the blush creep over his cheeks and mentally cursed his paleness once more that day; normally he wasn’t really one to blush, he wasn’t really a person to be effected by everything yet once something was able to get to him, he blushed so easily and quite obviously. “Thank you, really. Not many actually like to listen to me so I really appreciate it.” Kurt pursed his lips, furrowing his brows lightly in a slight judging look before laughing lightly. “Is this you being modest again? Because I’m sure they sound fantastic. You have an amazing voice, really. It’s soothing actually…” He shrugged lightly, getting up from the stool and closer to the piano, leaning against the top, “plus you clearly have more talent for instruments than half the people who have record deals these days.” Kurt gestured to the guitar lightly with a flick of his wrist before continuing to walk around the piano, looking at it until he was completely around the back and casting his attention back to Blaine. “You do sound great by yourself you know. And hey, now once your album comes out I can say I sung with you; it’ll be a great tale to tell.” He distracted himself by brushing the thin layer of dust off the piano, that fond smile returning without him even noticing. “If you ever need someone to try out a duet with, I’m more than likely free so you can always just give me a shout?” He cleared his throat, looking back squarely at Blaine before tilting his head ever so slightly and smirking a little. “Now, when am I going to here a Blaine original?”
Blaine crossed his arms against his chest as he leaned back into the chair, his legs stretching out a little to accidentally brush up against Kurt’s jean-leg momentarily, though he didn’t seem to think too much about it as he glanced up from the table and back towards the actor. Tilting his head the slightest bit he couldn’t help but smile lightly at the man’s grin, which was all too charming to really divert his attention from, especially after he heard his response. Blaine uncrossed his arms and rubbed his hands together with another amused smile, “Awesome, I’d really appreciate it actually. And…by the way,” he leaned back against the table so that he face was closer to Kurt’s again, this time his leg touching his and not moving away, “I didn’t mean to make you out to sound like a hermit, honestly. I’m the exact same way though, if I’m not in the piano room in the music department then I’m here in this cafe performing or simply just drinking coffee. So I have nothing against you being independent because, well, I’m very similar in that way.” Blaine gave him a sincere expression, smiling softly for a long moment as his eyes stayed on Kurt’s before he leaned back into his seat again. His smile faltered as he attempted to think of a response, he knew that the person sitting across from him didn’t know him very well, if at all really. But for some reason he felt like explaining himself, like he should tell him exactly what was going on in this crazy confused mind of his. Because…and he had no idea why or how, something about the drama major really screwed everything up for him. Though he didn’t want to sound dramatic and as though Kurt was doing anything necessarily bad, no not at all. It was just that their was something about him…something he couldn’t explain or even comprehend that made him rethink things about himself subconsciously while consciously he was being fairly ignorant and naive. “You just thought what?” he asked curiously, though his tone may have come-off as slightly harsh. But when he noticed the apologetic look on Kurt’s face he automatically let his own expression soften, “It’s fine, really. I hadn’t thought about asking a girl to go with me…and if I’m being completely honest…” he hesitated, having a subconscious voice tell him that what he was about to say next was good while a conscious voice simultaneously told him that he was being an idiot for this… “I assumed when you said that you’d make me go to a Broadway musical if it was the last thing you do that you’d be going with me. Like I said, I’ve never been to a musical so I don’t really know what to expect. Plus…” he paused once more with a thoughtful expression, “You really do have this appreciation for musicals and drama that I don’t know if I can understand without having someone like you their to experience it with.”
Blaine slipped the guitar strap from around his neck and placed it carefully on the now empty side of the bench that Kurt had just left. When he finally allowed his frown to pass he glanced up to notice the obvious blush on the actor’s cheeks. He automatically smiled, “Well, I mean it’s not everyday I come across such a great singer, despite the fact that I’m in the music department,” he shrugged his shoulders and eyed him for a moment. “Me? Modest? Nah, John Mayer is a magician with a guitar and his lyrics. I wish my music was even close to as good as his. But if you want to hear one of my older songs I wouldn’t mind playing it for you….” Now he felt his cheeks blush as Kurt walked over to the piano, leaning against it, and complimenting him on his singing as well as his potential album. He knew it was just a silly comment but it made him smile nonetheless, “While I’m beyond flattered I’m not exactly sure I’m all that great. Plus, I’d probably start bragging about singing with someone like you before you’d ever get the chance to say anything nice about me.” He ran a couple fingers through his hair, messing it up the slightest bit without really even noticing, “I’d be honored to duet with you again. I might even consider a duet for my next show piece.” Blaine smiled cunningly, “I guess if you want to hear a ‘Blaine original’ you’ll just have to show up at an ‘Anderson Thursday’ performance. I usually start off with my own twist on popular and not as well known songs, but I always end off with one of my own songs I wrote. So I suppose if you want to hear it you’ll just have to show up, here, on Thursday,” he turned his eyes from Kurt towards the piano and lifted the cover gently to expose the keys.
