Kurt felt like he’d been holding his breath waiting for the answer. In the past this would have been the moment where he’d be begging whatever power there was out there for the guy to decline, to make things so awkward that contact eventually just naturally fizzled out. Of course Kurt’s new found lack of ability to reply to any attempts at contact during those times aided massively. But then, he could move on. He could forget and focus on himself. That’s how things had been for the past few years since he first felt something towards a guy at school and the one after that and quite possibly the one after that too. They’d all ended terribly. Kurt was a romantic, honestly he just couldn’t help himself from imagining flirty conversations were happening between them when really it was all one sided and incredibly cringe-worthy to look back on. He also couldn’t help, the first few times, confession his love for these unsuspecting guys only to have the most hideous and heart breaking responses from people who’d treat him with such respect. Yet right now, Kurt was begging that there would be some positive outcome, what he heard was enough for him to set down the cloth he was holding, and straighten out those darn creases in the top again before lifting up the hatchway of the bar to walk through and smiling a little. “I’m not forcing you, you know?”

He valued Blaine’s friendship far too much and he’d learnt from the past not to let his emotions get the better of him, mostly through the hard way every time, enough to purposefully plaster on his smile and open the door to the restaurant part of the bar, instantly sighing in relief at the cool air and the decently lit space before collapsing into one of the chairs and watching Blaine carefully. “I’m sorry.” He muttered quickly.

Blaine watched Kurt for a moment as he almost obsessively messed with the cloth in his hands, putting it down minutes later to exit from behind the bar. He raised his eyebrow the slightest bit before recognizing the more familiar smile on the man’s face, feeling his own lips want to pull into a more natural smile. He continued to watch him momentarily as he started to make his way away from the bar and off towards where he assumed he had been looking earlier. Without responding to his comment Blaine slowly slipped off the edge of bar stool, grabbing his half-full glass of beer before heading off to follow Kurt to wherever he was going. The overly-cautious part of his brain told him to stop Kurt where he was, apologize for changing his mind, and head right out the front door and not look back. There was just one problem with that…he couldn’t really say no, and he couldn’t bare to think of saying something or doing something to disappoint the actor for the second time that night. So here he was, moronically following after someone he literally hadn’t known for longer then a couple weeks. The same someone who had lied about telling him when he’d be back in New York, the same someone who he could have sworn was trying to avoid him…but if that were the truth then why was he asking to talk to him? Especially in a more secluded area of the bar?

Blaine continued to sip at his beer as he somehow managed to make his way past the crowd of student bodies without spilling a drop of alcohol on himself or anyone else, which was a challenge in itself. Once he had caught up to Kurt - who had taken a seat and looked rather exhausted - Blaine avoided his eyes as he attempted to find a seat that left plenty of room between the two of them. He placed the glass on the table nearby and raised an eyebrow at the actor’s comment. Blaine glanced over at him, thoroughly confused, “Why are you apologizing? You didn’t do anything wrong,” he replied, keeping his eyes easily on Kurt without much thought behind it. It couldn’t have been the actor’s fault, it must have been his own, it was always his own. He just honestly couldn’t remember what he had done wrong to get the man to ignore him and avoid him entirely in the first place.
