Kurt quickly turned on his heel having given Blaine a sharp nod and an obviously over polite smile he’d managed to perfect for the job, reaching out to grab a glass before he felt the fingers grasping his wrist, turning back just as sharply. He felt bad, honestly, he did. It wasn’t Blaine’s fault exactly that he’d been avoiding him, there’d been a lot happening over the past few days and maybe the brunet wasn’t in the best of moods to begin with. He pulled his wrist out of Blaine’s grasp, shifting between placing his hands on his hips and then back over his chest, eyebrows raised carefully. No, Blaine hadn’t done anything but managed to confirm something that Kurt was completely dreading. He had a terrible habit of wanting what he couldn’t have; like those new Marc Jacobs pants which were unbelievably gorgeous and would feel right at home in his wardrobe, but as lovely as they were they had an even nicer price. Like the amount of shows he wanted to go and see but had either finished showing, were too expensive or hadn’t even been created yet. Like the roles which he would obviously never get because his vocal range wasn’t low enough and he wouldn’t be masculine enough for the part itself - of course this was always said in a slightly more polite way of ‘we don’t think you’re right for this part… have you considered…’ before walking off knowing exactly what they meant.

Kurt tapped his foot a little, raising his eyebrow slightly in question and fighting the urge to say anything until he’d managed to get the drink sorted. Maybe it would be easier if Blaine thought he was mad at him or purposefully avoiding him for whatever reason he could come up with. Then maybe they’d drift apart from the oddly quick formed close friendship and that would be it - they’d be back to who they were before their meeting and Kurt could just get over his confusion and focus more on getting more and more roles than he knew what to do with. He pulled down two glasses, turning the water tap on to pour himself a drink for his break and placed Blaine’s underneath the house tap, shaking his head slightly before sliding it the brief distance of separation the bar top gave them. “Didn’t think I’d see you here…” Kurt muttered, taking a long drink of the water before pouring the rest out and running his fingers lightly over his hair to make sure it was still in place after having to rectify it earlier due to an untimely and unappreciated ruffling.

Blaine knew better then to put his hands on anyone, especially Kurt. But here’s where he knew his father’s influence had gotten to him, because sometimes he couldn’t distinguish the line between his own over-friendly touching and the more direct, even possibly aggressively unwanted touching. He had been told several times it wasn’t his fault, and he had never over-stepped his boundaries to the point of being even remotely abusive, but on occasion he’d do little things like this, where all he could think of was his father and it would immediately make him feel ashamed. So as Kurt pulled his hand out of his grasp he automatically lowered his head, mentally cursing himself, “Sorry…sorry, I’m really sorry about that…I don’t know what that was about,” he said, mumbling the latter part as he brought his hands closer to him. He felt bad, embarrassed, and remotely angry with himself for letting him put his hands on Kurt like he had. It wasn’t fair to his friend…if that’s even what they were anymore, no matter how Kurt was acting towards him.

He muttered a polite thanks, reserving the smile for the time being as Kurt slid his drink over towards him. Blaine handled the glass idly between his fingers, glancing at it with a mild interest before he easily drank it all down and pushed the now empty glass off to one side of his little space at the bar, not really knowing if he should keep up with the drinking. In fact, he wondered if he should just leave and head back to his dorm or the music room where he spent more time then he actually slept. Kurt’s words brought him back to the ‘here and now’, quickly pulling him out of his own thoughts as the man usually did. Blaine shrugged his shoulders lightly at his comment, not really in the mood to say much more now that he was almost positive of what was going on. But as he noticed how Kurt ran his hand over his usually perfectly groomed hair he had a not-so-great feeling run through him…and he knew how much trouble that same feeling had gotten him in trouble before. “Did someone touch you?” he asked in the most gentle voice he could muster - which really, to his demise, didn’t come out gentle at all.
