Author's Notes: After the incident at the club with Sebastian, Blaine confronts Kurt about what happened. Kurt, thoroughly hurt and angry about his friend's actions, finally spring the question about what they are, relationship wise...and when the musician finally admits that he's in love with the actor Kurt refuses to believe it and leaves without an explanation

I can’t sleep….

Blaine laid perfectly still in a bed he hadn’t slept in for years, but sadly this is where he felt most at home…in this house, this room, this bed. He wasn’t sure of what time it was since the blinds were drawn and the alarm clock on the bedside table had been tossed away in a mere moment of frustration. But now he just felt a little lost, the confusion was gone but he couldn’t feel more helpless if he tried. It was solely his fault, and he knew that from the second he ended up kissing Sebastian, but he never knew his conversation with Kurt was going to turn the way it did. The actor had wanted him to be honest, so what else was he supposed to say other than those three words that admittedly had plagued him more then once before? He sighed, his eyes closing for a moment as he pushed his fingers through his disheveled curls and forced himself up into a sitting position. Eventually he managed to plant his feet on the floor and stood up from the bed, grabbing his jeans from the floor and pulling them on before leaving James’ bedroom.

The musician headed down the set of stairs and into the living room towards the kitchen but paused in his movements, turning back to see the piano he hadn’t touched in ages pushed up against a wall as though he had been the last one anybody had touched it. Tugging on his v-neck shirt a little he padded across the living room barefoot and slowly sat himself in front of the familiar instrument, prying it open with great care as his eyes fell on the keys. Blaine allowed his hands to rest against the cool ivory, his fingers spreading out over them as he softly started playing the intro to a song that just felt right at the time. His lips barely parted by the time the first verse started up, his voice barely audible as he sang…

“When you’re dreaming with a broken heart,
The waking up is the hardest part.
You roll outta bed and down on your knees,
And for the moment you can hardly breathe,
Wondering was he really here?
Is he standing in my room?
No he’s not…he’s gone, gone, gone….

When you’re dreaming with a broken heart,
The giving up is the hardest part.
He takes you in with your crying eyes,
Then all at one you have to say goodbye,
Wondering could you stay my love?
Will you wake up by my side?
No he can’t cause he’s gone, gone, gone.

Now do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hand…
Do I have to fall asleep with roses in my hand?
Baby won’t you get them if I did?
No you won’t…cause you’re gone, gone, gone.

When you’re dreaming with a broken heart…
The waking up is the hardest part.”

His fingers faltered and barely shook against the keys before he retracted them from the piano and held them in his lap. But before he could even think or allow the held-back emotions to fully take their toll he heard footsteps from behind him and a heavy hand rested on his shoulder.

“…How about I make you some pancakes, bud?”

Blaine quickly swiped his fingers across his cheek and pulled the piano cover down, turning to Paul a moment later with a small smile, “Sure, that sounds great”. The older man gave him a smile in returning, though he could tell just by looking at him that he had an idea of what was going on, of what had happened, even without having to ask as he pat his shoulder once before turning to head for the kitchen. Blaine glanced back at the piano for a long moment, but eventually he pushed himself up from the bench and left the instrument alone once more.
