Author's Notes: Let's just say I owe you a hell of an explanation, but I promise things are looking up for me and this fic isn't over until I say so.
Kurt couldn’t help himself. He was leaning closer and closer towards the boy. He was so close he could practically taste Blaine on his tongue, his eyes shut and the silence deafening. Just one little tilt of his head forward and then… then he heard a soft voice clear its throat. Kurt jolted back, hoping to god someone of authority hadn’t just done that, but when he heard the soft chuckle from the boy across from him, he slowly turned around to find Michelle with her hand over her mouth, suppressing soft giggles as her cheeks turned bright red. Kurt couldn’t help but giggle himself as he saw the little girl’s embarrassment creeping over her cheeks.

“What are you doing here silly girl?” He turned to find Blaine with a huge smile on his face waiting for a reply from his tiny counterpart.

“I-I…” she stammered a bit, still a bit embarrassed “I told Mr. St. James I needed to use the bathroom, but I really just wanted to see you,” she replied with a small smile.

Kurt watched with a fond smile as she stumbled over to the both of them. She stopped right in front of him, a look almost begging to ask a question that she seemed too scared to ask. He placed a gentle, reassuring hand on her shoulder.

“Is there something you wanted to ask me Michelle?”
She nodded.
“You can ask me anything you want honey,” Kurt beamed at her.
Michelle turned bright red once more as she gave him a sly smile.
“Mr. Hummel,” she began as her eyes darted between Kurt and Blaine, “are you and Blainers, uh- boyfriends?” She giggled as the last word came out of her mouth.

Kurt froze for a minute, his hand still on her shoulder. He turned to look at Blaine, noticing a smug smile on the boy’s face. As Kurt turned back to Michelle, he laughed and removed his hand from her shoulder to pat her on the head.

“No honey, we aren’t. Your brother wishes he could be but we aren’t.” He smiled at her and turned to wink at the boy whose cheeks were burning red.

Michelle let out a giggle and Kurt couldn’t help but do the same. She moved from in front of Kurt to stand in front of her brother. Blaine was still staring at Kurt, looking a bit mortified, but turned to his look alike when she pulled on his sleeve.

“Blainers, why don’t you make Mr. Hummel your boyfriend?” she asked as she tried to crawl into his lap.

Blaine’s face turned a deep scarlet as he helped his sister into his lap.

“It’s not that simple Shell,” he said, avoiding Kurt’s eyes at all cost.

Kurt chuckled and got up from his place on the bench. He made his way to Rachel’s desk, picking up the note and checking to see what he was supposed to be doing with this time. As if his body already knew the answer, his stomach growled as soon as he read the word lunch. He brought his free hand to his stomach, trying to silence it as he looked up and saw the siblings hadn’t heard his stomach demand food. He set the note down with a sigh as he made his way back over to the brother and sister pair, clearly in their own world. As he approached them Kurt noticed Michelle had curled into her brother’s abdomen as he cradled her in his arms. He saw that her eyes had slipped shut while Blaine leaned over her humming softly. His eyes shifted from the smaller girl to the boy whose arms she was wrapped up in.

Kurt’s eyes went straight to the purpling bruise around the boy’s eye, but didn’t linger for long. His gaze roved down the boy’s jawline to his perfect chin, up to his sealed lips radiating the sweet melody that had lulled the little girl to sleep. He lingered on them for a long while noticing how the bottom one had been split from the boy’s fight that also resulted in the black eye, but he couldn’t help but noticed how soft they looked and how badly he wanted to see them kiss-swollen and deep red. His tongue darted up to wet his lips as he forced his gaze up past the boy’s crooked, but incredibly cute, nose to his shut eyes. A small smile spread over his face as the boy fought his weight back before he could send himself and his sister toppling to the floor. He chuckled and suddenly the boy’s eyes snapped open and he pulled himself up remembering where he was and turning to see that he was being watched.

The boy was stiff as Kurt moved in front of him and knelt down. Blaine’s eyes never left Kurt as the man reached out slowly to brush the back of his fingers across his sister’s cheek. She squirmed for a minute before her hands shot up to her eyes, giving them a quick rub before blinking a few times and smiling as her brother became clear above her. Kurt let out a breathy chuckle as he watched Michelle focus on the boy above her, her eyes showing nothing but love and adoration. He smiled and looked up. His eyes locked with Blaine’s, and his smile grew bigger. Blaine visibly relaxed and looked down at the girl burning a hole into the bottom of his jaw with her eyes. She squealed with excitement as the boy finally noticed her, and quickly sat up wrapping her arms around his neck for what felt like the millionth time in the past hour or so. Blaine smiled as he laced his arms around her back and placed his chin on her shoulder. He noticed that Kurt was no longer kneeling and was now towering over them. His eyes traveled upward until he found himself locked in another intense gaze with the man. He smiled shyly and squealed on the inside when Kurt returned it tenfold.

Kurt hated to brake up the sweet moment, but his stomach was dying to be filled and Michelle had been gone far too long for a bathroom break. For all Mr. St. James knew she could have fallen in and have been flushed away. He gave a short sigh before speaking.

“Michelle, you should really be getting back to class.” His voice was stern as he placed his hands on his hips.

The younger Anderson snapped her head in his direction, giving the man a bright, toothy smile. She turned her attention back to her brother, gave his body one last squeeze and wiggled her way out of his arms. She hopped down to the floor and faced Kurt. Kurt gave her a knowing smile and pointed towards the door. She giggled as she spun around to face her brother one last time, before heading toward the door. They watched her open the door and get lost in the sea of tiny people making their way down the hall. Kurt, indifferent to the circumstance of being alone with Blaine for the next 20 minutes or so, smiled at the boy before walking over to the door and trying to shake his nerves. He was about to shut it when a familiar head of wavy brown hair poked through from the other side.

“Hello Kurt!” Mr. St. James smiled as he focused on the man near the door.

“Umm hello Mr. St. James,” Kurt replied, feeling uneasy.

“Please call me Jesse. May I come in?” he asked with a sly smile.

Kurt stiffened at the question. He didn’t want to talk to Jesse right now, or at all to be honest. The man seemed to lack personal space issues.

Before Kurt could reply Jesse was pushing his way into the room. Kurt quickly shut the door behind him and turned to see Jesse standing at an uncomfortably close distance. He met the man eye-to-eye, not missing the look of sheer lust in his eyes. Kurt cleared his throat and stepped around the man and further into the room.

“Was there something I could help you with?” Kurt asked as he kept his back to the man, while his eyes scanned the room for Blaine.

The boy was sitting at the top of the risers watching the scene in front of him. Kurt saw the boy’s lips turned up at the corners, but his jaw was set firm. He wasn’t sure, but Blaine almost looked… jealous. He was shaken out of his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder. He snapped back around to find Jesse in the same proximity he was a minute ago only this time he was touching him and had a look of concern on his face.

“Kurt?”

“What?” he replied sounding breathless.

“I asked you if you would like to join me for what’s left of your lunch period.” Jesse smiled as he dropped his hand.

Kurt let out a huge breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He wasn’t sure if having lunch with Jesse was a good idea. He had Blaine with him and Jesse just didn’t strike Kurt as good company to keep. He snuck a peek over his shoulder at the boy. He caught Blaine’s eye and the boy gave his head the slightest shake, his eyes glaring at them both with his mouth now set in a straight line. Sure Kurt didn’t like Jesse, but something about the way Blaine was staring at them made him squirm. Kurt turned his attention back to Jesse, who was now staring past him at what he could only guess was the boy giving him a death glare from the top of the risers.

“Ummm,” Kurt began as Jesse’s full attention shifted back to him, “I don’t have much time and I would really rather stay here and prepare for my next class if that’s okay with you? It’s only my first day and all and I-” Kurt was cut off by the surprise of something grabbing his hand.

Jesse was lifting his hand to his mouth. Kurt noticed the man’s eyes shift past him once more as he placed a small kiss on the top of his hand. As he lowered his hand, Jesse’s eyes shifted back to Kurt and he gave him a wink.

“Maybe some other time then,” he said as he headed for the door.

“Maybe,” Kurt whispered as the door clicked shut.

“Hummel, I would rather enjoy it if you stayed away from that prick. He’s no good.”

Kurt, his back still towards the boy, clenched his fists at his side. What’s it to him if Jesse wants to have lunch? He has no say in the matter. This boy was so hot and cold.

Kurt turned on his heels to face him. “Shut up Anderson. Last time I checked I was the adult here and you have no say as to whom I decide to hang out with. Okay?” he finished giving him an award-winning bitch smile.

He turned to his side and headed over to Rachel’s desk feeling awfully proud of himself. That was until he heard a smug chuckle come form the other side of the room. He braced both arms on the front of the desk and dropped his head with sheer exhaustion.

“You are so hot when I piss you off.” The voice was getting closer.

Kurt could hear the thump of the boy’s boots, getting closer, and closer until-

He felt it. He felt the boy’s breath on his neck, right near his ear. Kurt shut his eyes as the boy spoke.

“Relax,” the boy whispered. “You’re a man. You can do whoever you want, whenever you want. I was just hoping I’d be at the top of the list.”

His words sent shivers surging through Kurt’s body. Kurt stayed in the same position until he heard the same thunk of the boy’s boots leave his side, and out the door.
