As always, the treatment took a few hours, time that the two boys spent chatting quietly about light topics such as school and the Warblers, never touching on any heavy topics. By the end of the time, Blaine was extremely drowsy, as per usual. Kurt let Blaine lean on him heavily as they walked to the car before driving back to Westerville.
Kurt stayed for a few more hours, helping Blaine get comfortable and placing a garbage bin close to Blaine's bed, just in case. He made sure that Blaine had his nausea medication in reach as well as some snacks and multiple bottles of water before he left with a promise to return the next day.
As hard as he tried, Blaine could not find a way to be comfortable. Kurt had left about an hour earlier, and since then someone had been down to check up on him every couple of minutes. At that exact moment, David opened the door to his bedroom, trying to be a quiet as possible as he assumed his friend would be sleeping. He was surprised to see the other teen wide awake.
"Hey Blaine," He whispered, Blaine grumbled a bit as he shuffled some more on the bed. "You okay?" He asked, concern colouring his voice. Blaine simply looked up at him with a frown of discomfort before he threw the covers off of his body.
"I'm so uncomfortable." He whined, pouting like an adorable 5-year-old. David sighed, stepping fully into the room before carefully shutting the door behind him and walking over to his friend's bed.
"How about I call Wes to come over and we can have a sleepover in your living room, just like old times." David said as he sat on the side of Blaine's bed. Blaine looked up at him with wide, hopeful eyes. "We can watch movies and play video games and try to get your mind off of everything." He offered; Blaine nodded weakly. David threw his arm around the smaller boy and Blaine allowed David to help him out of the room.
Blaine smiled as his friend adjusted his arm around his shoulder. He really appreciated David in that moment; he was willing to give up a night of sleep just to make sure that Blaine was comfortable. God, Blaine never loved his friend more than in that moment.
David settled Blaine on the couch, moving the thick quilt Mrs. Anderson had made Blaine when he was a baby over his body before leaving the living room to call Wes and grab the things Kurt had put in Blaine's bedroom.
Blaine curled on the couch, body shivering as sweat dripped down his skin. It had been like this since about an hour after he finished his first treatment. He shook his head, trying to forget about it before reaching over to grab the remote that lay on the coffee table. He turned on the television and began playing whatever was in the DVD player, Inception. Blaine simply sighed, shutting his eyes as he remembered the movie, it had played in the background earlier that day as he and Kurt spent their quality time together on that very couch.
He let his mind wander back to the hours before his treatment; it already felt like a million years ago. Kurt had spent the time becoming acquainted with Blaine's body; Blaine still shivered as he thought about the feeling of Kurt's bare chest on his own as they kissed. He was ripped out of his thoughts when David returned, placing the garbage bin in front of the couch with a loud bang. Blaine's eyes opened and he shot David a glare. David rolled his eyes before plopping down on the floor by Blaine's feet.
"You spend too much time with Kurt." David muttered as grabbed the remote and turned up the volume. Blaine rolled his eyes in return.
"I'd hope so," Blaine teased, "He is my boyfriend." Blaine pointed out before sitting up as fast as his nausea would allow without making his dispel the contents of his stomach to snatch the remote out of David's hands with a frown. He pointed it to the television and put the volume back to how it was before David messed with it.
"Sorry," David mumbled. Blaine shrugged, making grabby hands at the coffee table to where his water bottle was. David laughed and passed it to him. “You’re such a child.” He chuckled.
Wes arrived half an hour after David called him, having to sign out of the dorms and obtain a pass of leave for the night. "Hey man! How you feeling?" Wes asked as he came in through the back door that entered straight into the basement apartment. Blaine sighed, shrugging.
"I'm fine, I guess," Blaine mumbled form his spot on the couch. Wes gave him a sad smile and a tight hug.
"Just hang in there, bud." He told him before straightening up and groaning when he saw the movie that was playing.
"Seriously? Inception? Thank God I brought my movie collection!" He said, going up to the console and pulling out a pile of DVDs from his overnight bag. Blaine smiled at him as he returned to the other couch, the main menu for the latest Harry Potter movie coming up on the screen. He really needed a night with his friends to help his racing mind shut up so he could calm down and try to forget what was happening with him.
The night continued, the three boys watching almost all the movies that Wes had brought. Blaine drifted in and out of consciousness the entire night. He used the garbage bin several times, each time causing his friends to shoot him concerned looks which he returned with a weak smile and grabbing the bottle of water he had since placed on the floor for a long drink.
Blaine had been asleep for just under an hour when there was a knock at the door. Wes and David gave each other confused looks before David stood to open the door, allowing their visitor in. Once he did, he came face-to-face with Kurt, who had a single flower in his hand. Kurt gave him a small, shy smile and wave.
"Hey, how is he?" He asked in a small whisper, not wanting to wake Blaine if he was asleep. David shrugged, allowing Kurt in before closing the door.
"Fine I guess; we watched movies all night. He kept drifting in and out; he threw up a couple of times. He didn't really eat anything. He's sleeping right now, over on the couch." David informed him, nudging his head in the direction of the couch. Kurt nodded and walked over, waving at Wes before sitting on Blaine's couch, near his feet. He reached a soft hand over and massaged Blaine's upper thigh through the blanket that lay snuggly over his body.
"Mm, s'good." Blaine mumbled, turning a bit to lie on his back before opening his eyes slowly. A lazy smile spread over his face when he saw his boyfriend. "Hey there stranger," Blaine mumbled. Kurt chuckled and leaned over, kissing Blaine's cheek softly.
"Good morning, gorgeous. This is for you." Kurt said softly, handing Blaine the yellow rose that was in his hand. Blaine gasped, taking the flower and bringing it up to his nose to smell it gently.
"It's beautiful, thank you Kurt." Blaine breathed before looking back up and into Kurt's eyes. "But what's it for?" He asked, turning confused.
"For being the beautiful boy you are, and being so brave yesterday and Thursday. I'm so proud of you, Blaine." Kurt told him honestly. Blaine smiled up at his boyfriend before shifting with a small frown.
"I really want to kiss you right now, but I need to brush my teeth after all the times I threw up last night." Blaine admitted with a frown. Kurt moved off of Blaine and nodded, reaching a hand out to help Blaine up off of the couch.
"Of course; I'll be right here when you get out. Do you want some help?" Kurt asked. Blaine shook his head quickly, which resulted in a groan and a quick hand covering his mouth.
"I'll be right back." Blaine whispered through his hands, eyes wide as he ran to the bathroom. Kurt winced when he heard the sounds of Blaine getting sick in the bathroom. Kurt sat softly on the edge of the couch, worry clear on his face.
David sighed from where he stood at the edge of the living room. He walked left the basement, leaving Wes and Kurt alone in the living room. Wes turned off the television before walking over to Kurt to try to comfort him.
"Kurt," Wes said timidly. Kurt looked over at the other Warbler, eyes watering with tears. "Kurt, are you okay?" Wes asked him softly, placing a comforting hand on his best friend's boyfriend's shoulder. Kurt sniffled and nodded quickly.
"I'm great." Kurt told him, but Wes could see through his act when Kurt’s voice cracked and gave him a look of disbelief. Kurt held his stare for several minutes before breaking down and sighing, slumping his back, looking completely defeated.
"No, you're not." Wes said simply. "You can talk to us, you know." Wes assured him, rubbing his hand over Kurt's shoulder in comfort. "We are all terrified for Blaine. I know we have to be strong for him, but, Kurt, you're allowed to be scared sometimes. I know Blaine is fragile right now, but he can take it. It'll kill him if he finds out you're bottling all this up." Wes told him softly. Kurt nodded, tears falling down his face soundlessly.
"I know. I-I'm trying, it's just hard to let my emotions show when I'm so used to no one caring about me and therefore having fending for myself. I want to be there for Blaine, but how am I supposed to do that when I'm crying all over myself and unable to hold it all together in front of him?" Kurt sniffled again, biting his lip. "I guess it all just hits really close to home." Kurt admitted as an afterthought, fidgeting with his fingers in his lap. This caught Wes's attention, the boy perked up and his hand stopped moving on Kurt's shoulder.
"What do you mean?" Wes asked in a soft voice, but Kurt looked up at him in alarm, as if he said too much. He was saved from saying more by Blaine re-entering the room with a shy smile.
"Can I steal my boyfriend for a second, Wes?" Blaine asked softly. Kurt gave him a wide smile and stood.
"I'll talk to you later Wesley," Kurt assured him before following Blaine into his bedroom. Wes sighed, running his hand over his face before standing and going to David's room. He wanted to help his friends, they were both hurting. Kurt was hiding something; something that made Blaine going through this so much worse for him, Blaine was in physical and mental pain. He couldn't help them on his own though, he would need David's help.
