That’s all Kurt said, but there was so much more he wanted to say. But he would say that later, after the date Blaine was planning, when they are tangled up in sheets and skin, when kisses are deep and slow. When time stands still for them and the cares of the world melt away.
Then.
Then Kurt would tell Blaine just how intoxicating he is to him. He could whisper “I love you” a thousand times and still not adequately express how he felt because, really, sometimes words just aren’t enough.
Sometimes words get in the way and make you make a fool of yourself as you trip and stumble through adjectives and verbs. And an eloquent phrase uttered hangs heavy in the air until reciprocated.
So maybe instead, Kurt would show him, to let his actions take over where his words fall short.
But now Kurt sings words written for another, but Kurt pretends. He pretends he wrote them for Blaine.
And Blaine listens intently, a look of pure adoration in his eyes, a huge smile on his face.
And Blaine pretends too, and every word runs straight to his heart, piercing it in a beautiful and oh so good way.
And later, Blaine decides, he would tell Kurt just how much he loved the song, how much he means to him.
Or better yet, Blaine would show him.
Just before our love got lost you said
I am as constant as a northern star
And I said, constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar
On the back of a carton coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you darling
And I would still be on my feet
Oh I would still be on my feet
Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time that you told me, you said
Love is touching souls
Surely you touched mine
Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said
Go to him, stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed
Oh but you are in my blood you're my holy wine
You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet
