So this is the final chapter. It was not planned as like all the last chapters, it just happened. It is not completely over because I have not decided if I want to do an Epilogue or continuation. If I continue to write a second part, I will probably add a one shot or epilogue to recount the wedding or a follow up of some sort. If it feels done after a while I will add an Epilogue to write a bit of my picture of their future. Though I have to admit I did like the future in the end of the real season 6, but I could have used more detail.
Thank you to all that have been supportive. I started writing this story to rewrite Season 6 which I had issue with. As I continued to write, I found I had as much joy writing as I did reading. Another great surprise was the joy I got from the readers comments and encouragement.
Whether I continue this story right after or not, I think I plan to continue to write fics on what I want to read. Suggestions are welcome. If you like to comment to me directly, I think you can do so through the website by my profile.
I want to thank my beta, my husband. My soulmate that I met at 16 that has been my one and only. It is not a wonder that I fell in love with Klaines story as I feel I can relate. Thanks for being incredibly patient. I never thought you could read over 21 chapters with minimal griping and so much encouragement. It still amazes me how you can still surprise me with your love.
This has been incredibly fun. Thank you to all that have read, commented and been patient with my grammar and general writing as a first time writer. Thank you for allowing me to share.
Kurt sits by the water, a lake near the barn where the wedding is to take place. He spent the morning letting the busy work of setting up for the wedding numb his feelings and thoughts from the night before. Now that the girls are getting ready, he decided to take a quiet moment to himself.
He takes a deep breath and takes in the quiet calm. The air has a scent of rain. The sky looks like a storm is coming. He felt a feeling of anticipation buzzing in the air. Was it the storm, the wedding, or was it the fact this day will mark the finale of the torment that was started when he broke up with Blaine? He does not know what will happen with him and Blaine, but he knows something was coming today. As the Summer ends with this wedding, a new beginning was to come. Kurt has grown these past few months. He still made mistakes. He fought, he lost, and he tried to give up, but fate would not let him deny that he was meant to love Blaine Anderson. What their future looked like, he did not know, but he knew he was done fighting his feelings. His love for Blaine ran through his blood and was part of his survival. With or without Blaine, he just had to allow himself to love him and fight for him whenever he had the chance.
Blaine walked up as Kurt looked out at the water. There has been a building to this moment. This went beyond his break up with Kurt this year. Even beyond the break up before he came out to NY. There love was so strong, so deep, but a crack was made in its foundation. Its been growing and only the two of them facing this challenge was going to decide if everything was meant to be saved or would crumble and fall. No matter what, Blaine knew he had to stop running and just risk it all to see what was to come now. The writing was on the wall. Good or bad, Blaine and Kurt where meant to live this life together and it was up to them write how their story would end.
A cool breeze passed across the water and rustled the leaves near the tree where Blaine stood. The sound caught Kurts attention. He turned around and sees Blaine. They look at each other in silence. Both take a deep breath. It felt like it did right before they would get on stage to do a duet. Though it was scary at first, when they finally started, it just felt right when they were up their together. This time there was no audience, just the both of them bearing their souls to each other.
"Blaine..." Kurt says almost breathless, like hes been suffocating and Blaines presence was his source of oxygen.
"Kurt, I had to find you. I need to talk to you. I need you to know how I feel," he says almost as breathless as the words come rushing out.
Kurt braces himself for whatever is to come.
"How do you feel Blaine?"
"Lost Kurt, I feel lost without you. I feel like I been running away from the inevitable for so long. I love you. Theres been so many times I wondered if its been right or wrong to love you, but there is no denying that I love you and that I want to be with you."
Kurt closed his eyes for a moment. He knew Blaine loved him, but to hear him allow himself to feel that love, after all these months that passed, was all that he hoped for. As much as he wanted to run and take him in his arms, he needed to be sure.
"Are you sure Blaine? Are you sure you can forgive me?"
"I didnt think I could Kurt. You hurt me more than I ever been hurt in my life. To have you do that, the person I loved the most in this world, felt like the ultimate betrayal."
"Blaine, I am so sorry. It was all my fault. I know that now. I pushed you away because I was afraid of losing you. Instead of dealing with my stress and facing my feelings, I took it all out on you. I promise I will never hurt you like that again. I promise I will never take you for granted."
"This was not all on you Kurt. You did hurt me. You did push me away. You treated me without care, but I had a part in this relationship too. I chose not to recognize your stress. I could have helped to alleviate it. Proposing as a means to keep you and pretending that it was going to be easy being married at a young age, was immature of me. Despite knowing better, you loved me and agreed. You carried the burden of planning for our life financially and being more realistic about the pressures that came with it."
"I could have spoken to you Blaine."
"Yes, yes you could have, but I knew that you did not want this wedding and I saw it made you uncomfortable, but I just pretended it away. I also knew you were bottling up your feelings about your family, but I just let it happen. I should have said something too."
"Blaine, you have been so understanding. You took all my sharp comments and negative attitudes. I had no right to use your insecurities to hurt you. I pushed you to leave and then did not call you for months. I am so sorry for hurting you."
"Yes, you were wrong, but I also recognize now that what we have is not just a high school relationship anymore. Lets face it, it was never just a first love relationship for us, this is forever. We need to both treat it like its forever and not give up on it so quickly. I should have called you as well and not just pushed you away when you came back, especially when I knew I was still very much desperately in love with you."
Kurt let his tears fall. He couldnt believe Blaine could love him so deeply after everything he did. His whole body ache to be held by Blaine. He stood their feeling raw and vulnerable, feelings he usually would have shielded himself, but he knew that he needed to face his feelings and let Blaine know how he felt.
"Can you forgive me baby," Kurt said scared and knowing there was still a chance that Blaine could reject him.
Blaine takes a few steps and embraces Kurt. He held him tight.
"Im so tired of hurting baby, I love you so much. I chose to forgive you, because I know you are sorry. I chose to be happy, I chose to be with you," he says as he finally releases all his anger and allows himself to forgive Kurt and be with his love.
"Im sorry for all the tears I caused these eyes for so long," Kurt says as he holds Blaines face in his hands, kissing each of Blaines eye lids. He kisses Blaine softly all over his face. Each kiss feeling like blessings to Blaine as he closes his eyes and allows Kurt to shower him with his love.
He looks up and takes Kurts face in his hands and does the same. "I owe these tired eyes as well."
"No, I deserved some of those tears, but Ill never deny your kisses" Kurt says as he allows himself to smile after so much sorrow.
There kisses reach their lips. Softly they kiss each other, tasting each others tears on their lips. Their kisses deepen and becomes needy. The ache for each other was starting to get maddening as their kisses become more passionate and they could not get close enough or touch enough. They felt like they just wanted to crawl into each other.
Blaine broke the kiss first and started to laugh. Hey, this is déjà vu all over again. We better stop before I find us a car to make out in.
"Rachel has her Dads car, we can go there, she owes me," Kurt says half seriously, not wanting to let Blaine go.
"Wait, this time, dont you have the boyfriend we should be thinking about," Kurt says looking at Blaine realizing that the last he knew Blaine still had a boyfriend.
"What?" Blaine said as he realized he never mentioned his break up with Joshua. "No, I happen to be single. After our night together, I knew there could not be anything between Joshua and me."
"Oh..." Kurt says trying to hide a smile. "Well lets just say that you definitely wont be allowed to watch another super hero movie, for a while" as he winces his eyes and tries to give Blaine a disapproving look.
"Maybe I should be asking you about your current relationship status" he said jokingly, despite knowing fully well of his and Elliots break up.
"Another one of my mistakes I am afraid. Elliot is a friend and always will be. Im afraid I led him believe we could be more when I was trying to run away from my own feelings. Its over now though, I just hope I did not ruin our friendship forever," he says feeling ashamed.
"Dont worry, I know. I saw Elliot before I came looking for you. I think he cares about you and understands," Blaine says as he kisses Kurt on the cheek when he sees a touch of sadness as Kurt thinks of Elliot.
"I hope the two of you can be friends again, but Ill be keeping an eye on those duets of yours Mister!"
Kurt, smiles and kisses him on his nose. "There will never be any reason for you to worry, I am totally yours."
"Ok, lets agree no more boyfriends, except for each other," Blaine says with laugh.
Kurts face gets a bit serious and he steps back a bit from Blaine, looking down a bit nervous.
"Whats wrong Kurt" Blaine says, a little nervous about Kurts change in mood.
"I dont want to be your boyfriend Blaine, I never want to be boyfriends again," he says looking at Blaine intensely.
"Uh...I dont understand Kurt," he says as his heart starts to beat faster. "I thought you wanted to be together?"
Kurt reaches for Blaines hand. "Forever, I just had a different status for our relationship in mind."
Kurt sinks down on one knee and while still holding Blaines left hand, he reaches for a black box from his pocket. He looks up into Blaines shocked eyes and says his next words with as much conviction as he can.
"Blaine Anderson, you are not only the love of my life, you are my life. You are the air that I breathe, you bring the color in my life and you make me a better man just allowing me to love you. I want to spend every single day of my life proving to you how much you mean to me and the only way I want to do that is as your husband. Will you marry me?"
"Whoa, Kurt time out," Blaine steps back and lets Kurt stands up.
"Listen, we dont have to do this. I know you dont want to get married. We dont have to do this to prove something or secure our relationship. I love you Kurt and I know you love me. We can take our time and get married when the time is right. You were right, I see now that I was being impulsive and unrealistic. We need to have a plan before we get married. I dont want to mess things ups again."
Kurt walks up to Blaine and holds both his hands.
Blaine, I dont need any more time to know that you are the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I think you are right. Moving forward, we do need to talk and have a plan on how we handle stress and other challenges, but the decision to get married is just putting a name to our commitment. In fact, I see it as a promise we will make to each other to take this union and relationship as one that is forever and one that should be worked on and cared for. I am sorry that I made you think you were being unrealistic. The fact is that I was just not having faith in the relationship I already knew we had. I knew since high school that if you ever asked me to marry you that there was no way I would say no because you were it for me. We are not impulsive people Blaine, we been like an old married couple for as long as I could remember. We are both romantics, I just lost who I was for a while."
Blaine looks at Kurt and felt like his heart was going burst out of his chest from both nervousness and happiness. He knew that Kurt was right, but he was also scared.
"Are you sure Kurt, I dont want you to have any regrets."
"Regrets...I would never regret marrying you. I regret making you feel doubtful in my feelings. I never doubted what we had or what we were to each other. I was fearful of losing you, but now I know what it feels like to lose you, I never want to live another day without you. I know I can live without you, but I know I never want to. We only live this life once Blaine and I want to spend every day of it loving you."
"I know exactly what you mean Kurt. I feel the same. I want to be your Husband. Are you sure we are ready?"
"Yes, I think we are both sure. I just think we need to promise to communicate and plan for our future and remember that this is relationship that constantly needs to be worked on. I think we can do that as husbands. Will you take that leap with me?"
"Yes, yes I will" Blaine says as his eyes tear up as he sees the enthusiastic Kurt he always loved that would let him grab his hand and lead him to the next adventure because he was as brave and in love as he was.
Kurt smiles through his tears that now reappear in happiness this time as he slips the engagement ring on Blaines finger. It was an exact match to Kurts with the inscription "Our Love Is Forever" on the inside.
"Can you do something for me Blaine? Would you put my ring back on me?"
Blaines heart swells when Kurt pulls the ring he gave to him a year ago from his pocket.
Kurt and Blaine both laugh and shed tears of joy as they look at their hands and kiss.
"I dont want our wedding to cause us stress Blaine. Lets just get married soon, on our own or make it a small wedding."
Blaine, looks over at the barn and gives Kurt a smile. He reaches a hand out.
"I have an idea, do you trust me"
Kurt takes his hand, like he did from the start. "Always".
