Dear Mom,
It’s me again. I did it, mom. I broke up with David. It was hard, but I met this new guy that helped me through it. His name is Blaine. I know you know what happened, mom. Everything that happened. You saw Blaine protect me when David came to the house that night, and you saw how sweet he’s been. You know that I was at the hospital when David died. I want to go to the funeral, but I feel bad because I know that Blaine doesn’t think its good for me. But I know that he’ll go with me if I really want him to, and that’s what makes me like him so much. I never felt like this with David, mom. I think I love him…but, mom, how do I tell him?
Kurt
Blaine couldn’t believe what he was reading, and it made him want to cry. He knew then that this is what was in those envelopes he dropped at his mother’s grave that afternoon. He wrote letters to his mother. And he had told her that he loves him. Blaine put the letter down exactly where it had been on Kurt’s dresser and left the room. He decided that a shower was a good plan; it would help him think and process this.

Kurt woke up to the sound of the shower running. He cursed himself for falling asleep again. He felt so lazy. But in the meantime, he couldn’t help it. He was just so tired. He heard the shower turn off. A couple minutes of silence dragged on while Blaine got dried and dressed, but as Kurt expected, he came in as soon as he was done.
“Hey, your up.” He shook his head, water from his wet hair flying onto Kurt.
“Hey! Watch the waterfall there!” Blaine laughed.
“Sorry.” Kurt knew he had to talk to Blaine about what he wanted to do about David’s funeral, but he wasn’t sure how exactly to bring it up.
“Listen, Blaine, we need to talk.” Blaine cocked a triangular eyebrow at him.
“About?”
“David. Look, I really wanna-”
“Go to the funeral, I know.” Sure, Kurt didn’t know Blaine that well yet, but he knew enough to know that that was not a happy voice.
“I know that you don’t want me to, but I just…I feel like I have to.” Blaine sighed and looked at Kurt.
“If you really wanna go, I will go with you. As a matter of fact, I already talked to Cooper and he will come too. Because you are not going by yourself.”
“I agree. Especially after seeing some comments from his friends on Facebook…”
“What? What’ve they been saying?” Kurt turned his head. “Kurt…what did they say?”
“They said…they said that it was my fault he died. And that if they ever saw me again they were gonna make me pay for it.” Blaine pounded his fist into the dresser, the noise making Kurt jump.
“DAMMIT!” He sighed and put his hand over his face, trying to calm himself, taking deep breaths. “Are you sure you want to go?”
“Yes…”
“Ok. But me and Cooper are coming with you. And I might even bring some of the other guys as backup. Nick and Jeff and Wes.”
“Do we really need that many?”
“I don’t trust his friends, Kurt. They’re gonna try something, I can feel it. But it might deter them if there’s more of us.”
“Yeah…yeah, I guess you’re right.” Blaine sat down on the bed beside Kurt, putting his arm around him. He used his other hand to turn Kurt’s face towards his own and he kissed him gently. Kurt wanted to tell him desperately. “Blaine, I-” He couldn’t get the words out. They just wouldn’t come.
“You what?” One thing years of bullying had done for him: helped him to think on his feet.
“I, uh…thank you. For agreeing to come with me.” He mentally kicked himself. He just couldn’t bring himself to say it. Because all it reminded him of was David. And Blaine’s smile just made him hate himself more. Blaine deserved to hear it. Kurt was shaken from his thoughts feeling Blaine’s lips on his once more.
“You’re welcome.”
