There he sat, petrified staring the short haired fuming woman in front of him. Sue Sylvester was glaring down at the piece of paper in front of him. “I’m disappointed in you, Porcelain.” She said with a scowl.
Kurt Hummel sat there fearing looking Sue in the eyes. “A, B!?” Sue raged. “A, B in your math class!? You know the rules, Porcelain. Straight A’s or you’re off the Cheerios.” She threatened and Kurt couldn’t keep his mouth closed anymore. “Coach, it’s one B!”
“Don’t speak, Porcelain. Listen, I have a tutor set up for you, he’ll be here in a few minutes. His name is Blaine Anderson.” Sue said only to get a scowl from Kurt.
“Blaine Anderson!? Like, bowties and pink sunglasses Blaine Anderson!?”
“That’s the one.” Just then, there is a knock on the door of the small office. “Come in!” Blaine opens the door looking nervous and awkward, and strikingly similar to how Kurt described him. He walked in wearing a plaid button up shirt with a bright blue bowtie with his pink sunglasses hanging off his collar, his khakis raised higher on his hips than most, making his ankles show over his dress shoes, with his hair gelled back. “Get over here, Grease Lightening.” Blaine walks over and sits down.
“You wanted to see me, Coach Sylvester?”
“Yes. I want you to tutor Mr. Hummel here in math. He has a B, but he needs an A to compete with the Cheerios.”
“Um…I guess I could, but I have a lot going on right now-”
“Do you want to graduate, hobbit?”
“Oh-wait, what?!”
“Wonderful. Porcelain, you and Elvis will meet in my office every Friday after school for until that B is and A. Do you hear me?” Kurt responded with a grumble of unhappy acceptance. She turns to Blaine with a critical expression plastered on her face. “As for you, I want weekly updates on his progress. Monday mornings.” The bell rings to mark the end of the day. Kurt jumps up and heads for the door. “Porcelain! Where do you think you’re going?”
“Home?”
Sue makes a buzzer noise, indicating that Kurt has obviously given an incorrect answer. “Wrong. Its Friday. You have a tutoring session.” She rises from her chair. “Now me, on the other hand, I am going home. It’s a Harry Potter weekend. By the way, Travolta, here’s a key to my office. You don’t let Hummel out until you’re finished with him for the night and lock it up when you leave.”
Sue heads home, leaving Kurt and Blaine alone. For a while, Kurt just stares at Blaine with utter hatred. Blaine finally breaks the silence. “So…why is she so freaked out about a B?”
Kurt sighs. “We have to keep straight A’s to be on the Cheerios.”
“Wow. That’s a lot of pressure to be on a cheer team.”
“Squad.”
“What?”
“Its not a cheerleading ‘team’, it’s a cheerleading squad.”
“Oh. Sorry.” There’s more silence.
“Can we just get this over with so I can get on with my weekend?”
“Yeah, sure. Um…so where do you want to start?”
“You tell me. You’re the tutor.”
“Well, where are you getting confused?”
“Its not that I’m confused!”
“Then, what, are you just not paying attention in class?”
“No!” He looks down at his lap. “Well, yeah…I guess…”
Blaine looks Kurt over. He seems uneasy.
“Is something…bothering you?”
“Nothing you need to know about.”
“If we’re gonna get your grade up I’m gonna have to know what’s distracting you.” Kurt looks up at him. His face is lined with concern.
“Fine. Its…my boyfriend.”
“Karofsky?”
“Yeah. He…” Kurt gets lost in his thoughts for a moment..
“He what? Is there something going on with you guys?”
“What? Oh, no! No, its just…I-uh, text him all period. I know that that’s why my grade is the way it is, I just can’t help it.” Blaine looks it him, suspicious. He suspects that something else is going on, but he decides to leave it alone.
“Ok.” They continue with their lesson, growing somewhat fonder of each other as time goes on. They don’t leave the school until six o’clock at which time they go off to their separate lives for the next week until they meet again.
