Kurt examined the doors that stopped them from entering the Great Hall, behind those doors lay his fate. God he was so excited, very soon he'd be in a house where he would belong. Finally a place that he would belong, he wanted that so much. The doors opened and everyone started walking through, he kept himself next to Blaine as they walked. Once Kurt had quickly looked around the huge and magical room, he looked at Blaine and saw that he looked nervous. He didn't want Blaine to be nervous so he reached out and took his hand. When Blaine looked at him, he smiled warmly and squeezed his hand. He really liked holding Blaine's hand, it was soft and it fit his really well. There were so many people staring at them, they were taller, scary kids too. It reminded him of the kids that beat him up once.
Kurt wasn't really too worried about the sorting, but Blaine seemed to be. He knew that Blaine wouldn't be sorted into Slytherin, he's so sweet and amazing. But he was really brave, so maybe Gryffindor, he was smart so maybe Ravenclaw and he was so incredibly loyal so Hufflepuff. They all stood at the front of the hall and waited for their names to be called, lots of them Kurt didn't pay attention to, but when Harry Potter was called, he noticed that there was quite a reaction from other people. Blaine included. There were gasps, whispers and lots of people staring at one particular boy, the dark haired boy with glasses. He had no idea what was special about this boy so he looked at Blaine, who was gasping and wide eyed. When Blaine looked at him, he did seem surprised that Kurt didn't look like he did. Kurt would have to ask later what made this Harry boy so special. They watched as he went and sat on the stool, have the hat placed on his head and get placed into Gryffindor. Soon it was Blaine's turn to be called up and he looked absolutely terrified. So Kurt squeezed on his hand again and Blaine got visibly less scared. He was a bit nervous for Blaine since he know how scared Blaine was. He hoped that Blaine got the house that he wanted and when he heard "Hufflepuff" being shouted by the hat, he was so happy. He was pleased for Blaine that he started clapping with the biggest smile. He watched Blaine make his way to the Hufflepuff table and sit down. He waited for his name to be called and when it was, he stepped up and climbed up onto the stool. It wasn't particularly comfortable, not like the couch he had at home but it was old, so he didn't really expect it to be comfy. He waited nervously, shifting in his seat and he looked around to look at Blaine. Just looking at Blaine made him less nervous, he really needed to know why. Blaine just made him feel so good and happy, he also made his heart skip.
The hat spoke to him, he said that Kurt was brave, incredibly smart, cunning but also very loyal. He had a lot of bits from every house in and the hat didn't know where to place him. In the end, the hat said that his intelligence would one day help him in many great ways.
"RAVENCLAW!" The hat shouted.
Kurt was a bit disappointed that he wasn't in his mothers old house but he was so happy to be in a house that was most like him. He smiled widely and looked around the room, his eyes locking with Blaine's before he jumped off the stool and hurried over to his table. He sat next to a dark haired, Asian girl and smiled at her.
"Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel." He smiled and held out his hand for her to shake.
"Tina Cohen-Chang, pleased to meet you." She smiled and shook his hand. She spotted the broach on his robes and there was some small stitching on his left breast pocket, it looked like he was sewing something.
"What's that?"
"Oh, i'm trying to sew my initials onto my robes." Kurt told her. "It's not done yet but i do this to a lot of my clothes. Well i mean, they don't all have initials but i like to decorate."
The rest of the sorting went pretty quickly and then it was time for them to eat. Kurt was so grateful for it because he was really hungry. He ate so much that he didn't think he could move after but he did. He got up when they were told to and the Prefect led them to the Ravenclaw common room, telling them how to get inside and answering the riddle correctly when asked. The Prefect led them inside and showed them around, it was so amazing and it was more than what Kurt had wanted it to be. All the kids walked in groups, except Kurt, who was standing by himself. Whenever he tried to stand with someone, they'd give him a weird look and move away. Kurt just stood by himself and listened to the Prefect talk about the history of the Ravenclaw tower and he was really fascinated. He loved history and learning new things, this place was going to be incredible and he would never want to leave. He was told where he would be sleeping and that his stuff was waiting up there already but he just wanted tonight to be over so tomorrow he could explore with Blaine. Well if Blaine wanted to. He was worried that Blaine had made new friends and wouldn't want to see him any more, even though he knew Blaine was so nice, he was still worried that since he wasn't special enough to be anyone's friend, Blaine wouldn't like him any more. Kurt wasn't very good at making friends because people made fun of him for being different. Kids called him a fag, which he didn't know for a long time what it meant until his dad told him. Once he knew it was a boy who liked boys, he thought about it a lot. He thought that maybe he was one, since he had never had an interest in having a girlfriend. His dad said that there aren't a lot of nice people in the world or many that were boys who liked boys and admitted it. So if that's what Kurt was, then he would be alone and he knew it.
Kurt went upstairs to bed a few minutes later and he got changed into his pyjamas. He wasn't overly keen on the ones that had been laid out for him but he wore them anyway, since he was too tired to complain about it. He climbed into bed and snuggled down, hugging his pillow and closed his eyes. He began dreaming about the adventures he and Blaine would have together in this magical place.
