Blaine lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling and thinking about Kurt. All he had been able to do was look at Kurt through the door and all he wanted to do was go in there and hold his hand, talk to him and tell him about his day. Maybe he could sneak in; he just needed five minutes with him, just five. It was this moment, right now, that made him wish more than ever that he realised his feelings earlier. He had been with Kurt for almost two weeks but some days didn’t count because Kurt wasn’t even awake for them.
“Where do you think he is?” Tina asked looking around the hallways to the hospital. Her, Mike, Sam and Quinn had come to see Kurt but they didn’t know where he was.
“Didn’t Finn say he was in intensive care?” Sam said, looking up at the sign which pointed to intensive care, he pushed the door open and made his way down the hall to the rooms. The others just shrugged and followed him, they were probably lost anyway. “Aha! Kurt Hummel. Over here!” He called to the others as he pushed the door open. There were no nurses around, thankfully, so they were able to get in. Sam froze at the door and stared at Kurt, that wasn’t the boy that he knew, it looked nothing like him. “Have we got the right room?”
“We must have, it says his name right there and he has his hair.” Quinn said walking inside and looking around for any indication that it either was or wasn’t Kurt. She saw his collection of Vogue magazines and knew it was him. “It’s him, I found his magazines.”
“Poor Kurt.” Mike pulled a couple of extra chairs to Kurt’s bedside so he and his girlfriend could sit down.
“Yeah, I feel so bad for him.” Tina held onto Mike’s hand as they all looked at Kurt.
“What are you doing here?” A voice from the door came, all four turned to it and saw Blaine there with a coffee in his hand. He looked really tired. “I’m not even allowed in here.”
“There was no one around so we just came in.” Sam got up and let Blaine have his seat but Blaine didn’t move.
“Every time I try to get in, they don’t let me. I’m not even allowed five minutes with my own boyfriend.” Blaine sighed, he was so annoyed.
“No one is here now, just come in.” Tina told him.
As soon as Blaine took a step inside the room a nurse came by and told him get out, not seeing the others in there.
“He’s my boyfriend!” Blaine shouted after her.
“Blaine? What’s going on?” Carole said, hearing him shout.
“I’m still not allowed to see him.”
“I think... I think it’s because of who you are to him. The nurse told me friends are allowed now which means you should really be able to.”
“Wait, they’re not letting me in because I’m his boyfriend? They can’t do that!” Blaine was so angry. He walked straight into the room, not caring anymore and sitting down in the empty seat. The other four in the room sat in shock. They couldn’t believe that they would keep Blaine out of the room because he’s gay, that was so unfair.
“We should get going.” Quinn stood up, the other three followed. She patted Blaine’s shoulder and then walked out.
Blaine reached over and took Kurt’s uninjured hand, stroking the top of it with his thumb while Carole stood at the door watching.
“Hi Kurt, I’m sorry I haven’t spoken to you for a few days but that isn’t my fault. I really wanted to come in and hold your hand and talk to you but the nurses, they wouldn’t let me in. Anyway, I miss you so much. I miss your sweet voice, your gorgeous eyes, just you. What happened the other day when you almost... you know, please don’t ever do that again. Because then you’d leave me alone with all the weirdos in this world.” Blaine said the last line with a slight laugh. “I wish so badly that I had realised my feelings for you sooner, before Daniel, before you left because I wanted so much more time with you, to give you everything you deserve and more. I love you Kurt, I do and seeing you like this breaks my heart. Seeing you hurt, both physically and emotionally, hurts me especially when I’ve done it. I would never physically hurt you and I would never intentionally hurt you baby.” He didn’t even realised what he called Kurt, he just continued like it was a normal conversation. “One day, I want to marry you. I know we’ve only been together almost a couple of weeks but I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life. All that time I was with Daniel I thought about you, when I kissed him, I thought about you. I can see now why he thought I was cheating on him with you, because I always talked about you and the way that I looked at you, I never looked at him like that. When we danced that time, my heart was racing and I was really singing to you. I’ve loved you since I met you, I just pushed down my feelings because you didn’t need a boyfriend at the time, and you needed a friend and mentor. But as time went on, you didn’t need me like that anymore and my feelings resurfaced. I love you Kurt, please come back to me, I need you.” Blaine cried, burying his face in Kurt’s hand and completely forgetting that Carole was at the door, crying herself at Blaine’s words.
