“No he is your Daddy, he will always be your Daddy, never forget that okay. I’ll always be your Papa and he’ll always be your Daddy, even though you... even though he...” Blaine couldn’t finish, how could he say that they won’t see him again and he’ll never come home. He tried so hard not to cry but it was so hard.
“Does he not love us anymore?” Andrew asked with a sad face looking at his sister then down at the bed.
“He does, did, does... He loves you so much, so much, he would never stop, never ever. You can never stop loving him either, I will never stop.” Blaine said quickly, what Andrew said had hit him hard, he couldn’t do this, he couldn’t tell them it was just too hard.
“Then if he loves us, why doesn’t he come home?” Andrew was so very confused, he brushed his dark curls out of his face and looked up at his crying Papa.
“I miss Daddy, I made him a drawing and he promised to do lots of things with me. Daddy is a liar.” Elizabeth started crying, all this was too much for Blaine, he couldn’t do it.
“He’s not a liar!” Blaine shouted before remembering who he was shouting at, the children flinched and held each other. “I’m sorry, Papa’s sorry, he didn’t mean to scare you.”
Blaine decided to do this in the morning, it was too difficult for him to do now, why were things so difficult?
“Let’s go downstairs and watch some TV yeah?” He asked his children, who nodded quickly and their faces brightened, they jumped out of bed, Andrew running down the stairs and Elizabeth being carried by Blaine. Blaine sat in the middle of his children, Andrew on his right and Elizabeth on his left, all of them sharing a blanket. He turned on the television and the first thing he saw on was a Sound of Music, this made his lip quiver as he remembered how much his husband loved this musical, the amount of sing-a-long shows he had to watch with him. The house was so empty without him, too quiet and the spirit had gone, how was he going to go on? Tears silently fell from his eyes as he put Spongebob on for the kids. He stared at a blank space on the wall as he thought:
Blaine was on his way to meet the Warblers who were performing like they did all the time, he was walking down the spiral staircase, reaching the bottom and then heard someone say “excuse me?”, it sounded like it was for him so he stopped. He turned round to see who it was and there stood the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life, he was a boy who looked at him with the same astonishment. He had instantly fallen in love but he just didn’t know it right away, which he always got mad at himself for. The boy had asked what was happening and Blaine was only too happy to tell him, he told him that they were the Warblers putting on a performance and that they were like rock stars, which they were. He told the boy his name and the boy told him his, Kurt, his name was Kurt. He had such a delicate face with delicate features, his eyes were beautiful, the most beautiful pair he had ever seen, his nose was so cute and scrunched up when he smiled and laughed, his lips were so fine and just looked so kissable, his ears pricked up when he was happy. Blaine couldn’t resist and took the boys hand and ran with him down the Dalton hallways to the Warbler performance where he was the lead and sang Teenage Dream, unable to keep his eyes off of the new boy.
Blaine broke out of his trance and looked down at the two beautiful children lying on him. Andrew, biologically his, looked a spitting image of him, dark insane curls, hazel eyes, triangular eyebrows but he had freckles and an adorable little smile. He turned his head to his daughter, the little girl who looked just like Kurt, his beautiful blue eyes, his delicate features, his smile, his laugh, his sense of fashion, his brown hair. He pulled them both closer and held them as close as he could to his side, swearing that he would never let anything happen to his children, nothing was going to hurt them and he would do whatever it took to protect them.
Kurt was smiling and thoroughly enjoyed the performance, all the Warblers knew that Kurt was a spy and they were curious. There was always something about Kurt, he didn’t usually do something for one reason, he didn’t come to Dalton just to spy he came to see what a place was like where gays were accepted and bullying was not tolerated. The beautiful boy broke down in front of him telling him how hard his life was, how he was treated at school and all Blaine could do was sympathise. He ran away because of these bullies, he told Kurt that he could’ve done the same if he had wanted to but the best thing to do is to confront the guy which resulted in something very bad. Blaine had to help him, something inside him was screaming to help him, that there was something about Kurt and that he was in some way attracted to him. The way Kurt pulled that bully off of him when he was pushed to the fence was so brave, it must have taken so much courage to do that and he honestly felt partially responsible for that. Why didn’t he know back then that he was so perfect? They would’ve been together so much longer and therefore much happier and he wouldn’t have had to put Kurt through all the heartache that he did.
