“I can’t wait for you to come home, and then we won’t be limited on how much time we can spend together.” Kurt said while snuggled up against Blaine. “Do you think the nurse will let me get you in a wheelchair and take you for a walk?”
“No harm in asking, is there?” Blaine smiled down at Kurt. He leaned down and kissed him before Kurt got up and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a wheelchair and pushed it to Blaine’s bedside, behind him was a nurse.
“Come on sunshine, let’s get you outside.” Kurt practically bounced. He and the nurse helped Blaine into the wheelchair and made sure that he was strapped in. Once Blaine was in the chair, he pushed Blaine out of the room and took him outside to the gardens. Blaine seemed to love it, he enjoyed the sunshine and loved being outside.
“Thank you baby.” Blaine smiled at Kurt. “I really needed this. I’ve hated being stuck inside and watching every one come and go as they want. When I come out, maybe for a couple of hours a day we could go out.”
“I’d really like that. We can go to the park or go shopping together.” Kurt stroked Blaine’s hair, feeling the curls twist round his fingers. “They’re letting you out soon, aren’t they?”
“Yeah they are, at the end of the week. I can’t wait to be home and in your bed.”
“Is that all you can think about?” Kurt teased.
“Oh definitely, it’s been a while since I’ve had you naked under or on top of me.” Blaine grinned.
“Well if you’re lucky, you might get a peek soon.” Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine’s head.
Blaine reached out and grabbed Kurt by the front of his pants, pulling in so Kurt was at in his lap. “I love you so much.”
“I love you so much too baby and I always will. No matter what, I will always be there for you.” Kurt leaned in and kissed Blaine.
The end of the week came and Blaine was allowed to go home. He was really excited about that, even though he knew it was going to be difficult but with Kurt than they could work round it. The doctors said that he wouldn’t be in a wheelchair forever so he would work as hard as he could to get better, so he could walk up the aisle for his wedding. He wanted to marry Kurt so badly and he would do anything so that he could. He was taken home and was wheeled inside, looking around and feeling like he was home. He never felt that living with his parents but now he was with Kurt and his second family, he felt home.
“Welcome home.” Burt smiled at the boys.
“Do you mind if I have a minute to myself?” Blaine asked, looking around. He was getting a little overwhelmed and adjusting to being in the wheelchair was hard. He was going to have Kurt around him all the time which was amazing but also really sad, because Kurt would be his nurse as well as his fiance. He knew that Kurt was giving up a lot for Blaine and he was so grateful.
“Of course.” Kurt smiled and left the room.
Kurt and Blaine’s things had been recovered from the accident and in Kurt’s bag was something very special that he hadn’t given Blaine yet. It was an engagement ring. He had saved up for it and spent less on clothes so he could buy this ring. He held it in his hand, running a finger over the band.
“You still haven’t given that to him?” Burt asked, making Kurt jump and snap the box shut.
“No. I’m trying to find the right moment and right now doesn’t seem like a good time.”
“Actually, now is a very good time. He needs you now more than ever and giving him that ring will show him that. You love him and want to marry him; giving him a ring which proves your engagement is solid will give him the determination to get better.” Burt smiled, pulling Kurt into a hug.
“Thanks dad. I love you.” Kurt hugged his father back.
“I love you too.”
Kurt had set up a little surprise for Blaine while Carole took Blaine out for some air. In their room (that had been changed because of the situation), he put up fairy lights and got some roses and petals. He really wanted to make this romantic for Blaine and this was the only thing he could do at short notice. He found some clothes that really brought out the colour of his eyes and something he knew that Blaine liked on him. He put on some of Blaine’s favourite music so that he felt more comfortable. Blaine was taking a while but that might’ve just been because Kurt was feeling a bit nervous in case Blaine rejected the ring. Although he knew that Blaine wouldn’t, there was still part of him that was terrified in case he did. He heard the front door close and Carole announce that they were back and Kurt’s stomach started jittering with nerves. He heard footsteps coming towards the door and then the door swung open. Blaine was wheeled in and gasped at everything.
“Did you...? Oh Kurt, this is amazing.” Blaine smiled widely, looking round the room.
Carole closed the door behind her, leaving the two boys in the room together.
“What’s all this for?”
“Because I love you and because there’s something I have for you.” Kurt took Blaine over to the bed and helped him on it, so he was lying in the petals. He handed Blaine the roses and got down on one knee next to the bed. He got out the box and opened it, showing off the engagement ring. “I know I’ve proposed once before but that time I didn’t have a ring, now I do and I hope that you feel the same way as you did before, so will you marry me?”
“Yes! Of course I will!” Blaine grinned, grabbing Kurt and pulling him onto the bed and kissing him deeply.
Comments
This was really awesome. I love the way that Kurt proposed for the second time and gave Blaine the engagement ring. I also thought it was really great how Burt was there to show Kurt how important it was to reassure Blaine of his love and to give him something to work towards. I am looking forward to seeing where the boys go from here.
Me too! I know there will be lots of ups and downs, tears of happiness and sadness but no matter what Klaine'll come through :D
