“Burt?” Blaine called. He walked a little more inside and saw Burt sat down with papers in his hands. “Burt, can i talk to you?”
Burt looked up and smiled at Blaine before putting the papers down and getting up to get a chair for Blaine to sit down on. “Of course you can. What’s up?”
“It’s about the wedding.”
“It’s too much for you.” Burt smiled at Blaine. “It’s okay, i thought that too. I was so scared about getting married but it turned out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to me, both times. I loved Elizabeth and still do with all my heart and i love Carole so much and both weddings i couldn’t have been happier. Granted the second one i didn’t plan at all but Kurt knows what he’s doing, all you have to do is pick colours and little bits and Kurt’ll do the rest. But if you don’t want to get married just yet then you’re going to need to tell him.”
“I want to get married but hearing the load that we have to do, it scared me.”
“I completely understand but you know that you’ll need to talk to Kurt about it.” Burt told him. “He’ll appreciate the honesty.”
“Thank you Burt.” Blaine smiled. He decided to hang around with Burt for a few hours and helped him in the shop. He loved hanging out with Burt and they got on really well, he was like a father to him and that’s what he needed in his life.
Blaine knew that Burt was right so after a while he went home to find Kurt but he wasn’t there. He went into his room and saw a note to Blaine from Kurt saying that he was out shopping and looking for things for the wedding. He sighed and lay down on the bed, not realising how tired he was until he was woken up by Kurt who was smiling down at him.
“Hi there sleeping beauty, did you sleep well?” Kurt smiled, sitting down on the bed next to him.
“I did thank you.” Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt and pulled him back so they were lying together.
“I missed you while i was out.” Kurt said, kissing Blaine’s cheek. “But i did look for wedding stuff and i found some really cute-”
“We need to talk.”
“Why does that sound bad?”
“It’s about the wedding.”
“You don’t want to marry me?”
“No, i do! It’s just that things are moving too fast for me and i’m getting a bit overwhelmed. Do you think we can have a longer engagement and not get married in June?”
That Kurt didn’t expect, he was so looking forward to getting married in June because he wanted their married lives together to start already. It hurt a little to know that they weren’t getting married in the summer but if Blaine wasn’t ready then he understood and there wasn’t a lot he could do about it.
“Okay.”
“Are you okay?” Blaine asked, knowing that Kurt was upset. He wrapped his arms more around Kurt and looked at him with so much love in his eyes. He saw Kurt nod and felt bad for upsetting him.
The following morning, Kurt woke up to an amazing smell. He turned over and noticed that Blaine wasn’t in bed which confused him. He got out of bed and followed the smell until he got to the kitchen and saw Blaine cooking. He smiled widely as he watched his beloved cooking. Kurt looked over at the dining table to see a few things set out already; he turned back round to look at Blaine and jumped a little when he saw him standing right in front of him.
“Blaine! You made me jump.” Kurt grinned and gave his boyfriend a good morning kiss.
“I’m sorry baby.” Blaine smiled. “So this morning i have cooked us breakfast, i made a range of things so you can pick whatever you want.”
“What is all this for?” Kurt asked.
“Well after we decided to have a long engagement, i could see that it upset you. I just wanted to show you that i still love you.” Blaine cupped Kurt’s cheek and stroked it.
“You are so amazing.” Kurt smiled. He kissed Blaine before going to sit down at the dining table. His dork of a boyfriend came over and poured him a glass of orange juice and he was acting like a waiter. “You’re a dork.”
“You love it.” Blaine winked at Kurt who smiled widely back at him.
“I do. Its all part of your charm.”
Blaine brought over the food and let Kurt pick whatever he wanted and what was left Blaine had for himself. They enjoyed pancakes and waffles amongst other things and washed it down with orange juice and apple juice. Kurt wasn’t as upset about the wedding stuff now; Blaine knew exactly how to help him. Kurt had so many great ideas for the wedding and started planning already, he had a book full of ideas and designs but now they would have to wait. They’d been together almost two years now so their wedding could wait a little while longer. Maybe it was a good thing that they pressed pause on the wedding because if they were both reapplying for NYADA, they’d be too busy for a wedding.
