Break ups were awkward, Kurt realised, especially when your parents were dating and you’re in a lot of classes with them. It wasn’t right. He lay on his bed and stared at a picture of him and Blaine. They weren’t together very long, only a few months but they’d been best friends for years. Cradle to grave, Kurt laughed in his head.
“Kurtie! Higher Kurtie!” Blaine laughed as Kurt pushed him on the swing. He was so happy and giggled as he went higher. “I want to touch the sky!”
Kurt was pushing Blaine higher when he slipped and fell over. He cried and held his grazed knee. Blaine jumped off the swing and stopped it, before hurrying over to Kurt. He leaned down and kissed his knee. “Poor Kurtie, are you okay?”
“Yeah, thanks Blainey that feels better. You have magic kisses.”
“Then i will have to kiss you again.” Blaine kissed his knee again.
“All better!”
“Really? Your nose looks a little red.” Blaine leaned forward and kissed Kurt’s nose, making his best friend stop crying and start giggling.
“Blaineyyyy!”
“I’m glad you’re all better, Kurtie.”
“Thank you Blainey.” Kurt smiled, taking Blaine’s hand.
“I would do anything for you. From cradle to grave, remember?”
“I’ll always remember.”
He had lost his best friend. He no longer had his Blainey who he could talk to about anything and do everything with. He suddenly felt very alone. He wished they could be best friends again, if anything. It started making him regret their relationship because it ruined their friendship and now they’d never get to go back to being friends.
Blaine thought that school was the best time to see Kurt and to talk to him. They had classes together after all and their lockers were together. He hated himself more than anything for what happened and he was going to do whatever it took to make it right. He was in the wrong and stupid for it. He hated that he kept breaking Kurt’s heart. Making mistakes was a human thing to do, but that many mistakes made him the most stupid human being on the planet. He’d known how perfect Kurt was since before he was able to talk. They were Kurt and Blaine and even if they couldn’t be together again, he wanted them to be best friends again. They’d been through tough times before and pulled through, why should this be any different? He was sat in English, looking at the door to see if Kurt would come in and he did. His heart started skipping and he lit up. Kurt didn’t exactly get a choice in seating since last lesson, the teacher announced them project partners. He watched Kurt sit down and organise his stuff.
“Hey.” Blaine smiled at him.
“Hi.” Kurt said quietly back. Just the reply made Blaine happy.
“How are you?”
“I’m okay. You?”
“I’m okay.” Blaine and Kurt’s eyes just locked on each others, they stayed silent for a few minutes until Blaine spoke. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too. I guess we should get on with our work.”
“Yeah i guess we should.”
Yeah, Kurt was right; break ups were definitely awkward especially when you’re at school with them. His heart was going crazy being sat next to Blaine but then he remembered what happened and his heart would sink. He tried to be a civil as he could but then the minute he got out of class, he hurried away. He was so close to grabbing Blaine and kissing him, that’s why he hurried away. He wanted his Blaine back but he couldn’t give in to it. He had to stand his ground and if they were ever going to get back together, Blaine would have to earn back his trust. He thought about it and he knew he wanted Blaine back because he loved him so much and he needed him in his life. Kurt hid away until he was sure that Blaine wasn’t around and then he came out. He wanted him back but he also partly wanted to be over him badly.
Burt Hummel had only seen his son so upset once and that was when his mother died. He never thought he’d ever see Kurt so devastated ever again. But he was and the guy he loved did that. He really thought Blaine and Kurt were forever but after hearing about what Blaine did and their break up, he wasn’t sure anymore. He didn’t know what this meant for his own relationship but he hoped it was safe. He needed it to. While the boys were at school, Burt went and found Dianna who he could see was doing housework through the window. Her baby bump was getting bigger and she would give birth in a few months. He was concerned about her, he didn’t want her to overdo things. He had something to ask her anyway. He knocked on her door and waited until she answered it.
“Burt!” She smiled at her boyfriend. “Come in.”
He entered her home and noticed it looked very different, everything that belonged to Mark had gone and there were new things in the home.
“Did you hear about our boys?” Dianna asked, walking to the kitchen to make Burt a coffee.
“Yeah i did. It’s pretty shocking. I can’t believe Blaine did that.”
“Me either. I hope they can fix it, i really love them two together.”
“He made Kurt so happy. But i am not here to talk about our sons; i am here to talk about us.”
“Us? What about us?” Dianna grew nervous, unsure of what he had to say.
“Dianna Anderson...” Burt started but was interrupted.
“White, my maiden name was White. I’d like to go back to that. Sorry, please continue.”
“Dianna White, you would make me incredibly happy if you would move in with me. That includes Blaine to and maybe this might get them to be friends again. So what do you say?”
