Author's Notes: A cute Klaine chapter which I really like even though its mostly talking
Kurt Hummel had never been happier in his life, he had a loving boyfriend who was also his best friend and he had a loving father. But even he had noticed how lonely his father was and he had to do something about it. He knew someone who was single and looking, Finn’s mother Carole so if she was up to a date then he’d help his dad.
“Finn, can I talk to you?” Kurt asked, seeing Finn sitting by the piano in the choir room.
“Shoot.” Finn replied, not sitting too close to Kurt. He wasn’t too comfortable with the gay thing, he didn’t even like showering or changing in the changing rooms with Kurt. He always wondered if Kurt peeked. As nice as Kurt was, he did make Blaine and a lot of the other guys feel awkward.
“Your mum is single, right?”
“Right.” Finn had no idea where Kurt was going with this.
“Would she be interested in a date with my dad?”
“Maybe, she could do with a good man in her life.”
“Could you bring her to Breadstix on Friday at seven and i’ll bring my dad?” Finn nodded. “Thank you Finn!”
Kurt bounced excitedly and headed back to his seat next to the new glee club member Blaine. He leaned against Blaine with a huge grin.
“What are you so happy about? I’m not complaining, I love seeing you smile. I just want to know what you’re so happy about.” Blaine smiled.
“I just set my dad up on a date with Carole Hudson, Finn’s mother.”
“I know Carole, she’s so nice. When the football guys went over to Finn’s, she would always make us snacks and drinks. She would be good for Burt.” Blaine smiled, pleased with Kurt’s choice.

“Kurt, what’s going on? You’re acting really strange and why are you ironing my socks?” Burt Hummel asked, watching his son with a confused look on his face.
“We’re going out tonight for dinner. So you need to look smart and for god sake, take that hat off.” Kurt tutted.
“But it’s my hat! I love this hat. Why do I have to take it off?” Then it struck him that Kurt was up to something. “What are you up to?”
“So I can’t take my dad out to dinner without it being suspicious?”
“No because you’ve not done it before. Are you setting me up?” Burt asked, watching Kurt’s body language to see if he gave anything away.
Kurt sighed. “Yes I am because you’ve been single for a long time now dad, you need to get back out there. I know a very nice woman who has been single for many years and she wants to get back out there too. Come on dad, it’s one night and it wouldn’t hurt.”
“Fine, I’ll have this date with the woman, but tell me a bit about her.”

Friday at seven, Burt and Kurt entered Breadstix and managed to find a table. Kurt had made plans with Blaine; they were going to have a date while Burt and Carole had a date on a nearby table. Blaine loved the idea since they hadn’t actually been on a date yet. Blaine hadn’t arrived yet so Kurt sat and waited for both Carole and Blaine to show up. Five minutes later Carole showed up and sat opposite Burt, who looked pretty pleased to see her. As soon as Carole sat down, Blaine showed up and smiled at Kurt. He kissed Kurt’s cheek before sitting down opposite him.
“Our first date, I’ve been so excited.” Blaine smiled, taking one of Kurt’s hands in his.
“You look amazing!” Kurt looked at what Blaine was wearing. No bowtie but a red cardigan with a blue button up shirt.
“You always look amazing.” Blaine smiled. “So, are we going to share a dessert?”
“Of course we are! That’s what I’ve been looking forward to.” Kurt grinned.
A waitress came over and took their orders, Blaine had the salad whereas Kurt thought he’d be daring and go for something with calories which made Blaine gasp jokingly. Kurt shot him a glare while trying to hide his grin but it didn’t work.
“You think I’m fat don’t you?” Kurt teased.
“Of course I don’t think you’re fat honey.” Blaine grinned; slipping out a pet name that he noticed made Kurt’s eyes sparkle even more.
“You called me honey.” Kurt smiled widely. “I really liked it.”
“So you want to do the whole honey, sweetie, baby, sugarplum fairy name thing?” Blaine lit up. He always wanted to call Kurt his baby or sweetie or something cute.
“Sugarplum fairy? Really Blaine?” Kurt giggled.
Blaine adored Kurt’s giggle, it made his heart skip beats and it made him want to kiss Kurt senseless. They stared at each other with heart eyes for a few minutes before their starters turned up. They began to eat slowly with grins on their faces.
“Most first dates are about getting to know the other person, but we know each other very well.” Kurt said between mouthfuls.
“What’s my favourite colour?” Blaine asked.
“Green.”
“Favourite sport?”
“Football.”
“Singer?”
“Katy Perry.”
“Drink?”
“Medium Drip with a tad of cinnamon for flavour.”
“Exactly right.” Blaine smiled.
“Okay, what’s my favourite colour?” Kurt asked, testing Blaine.
“Red.”
“Sport?”
“None, you can’t even last twenty seconds watching football.”
“Wrong.” Kurt grinned.
“How was I wrong?!”
“My favourite sport is shopping!” Kurt giggled.
“How is that a sport?
“I have to exercise my arms by going through the racks and carrying my shopping bags, also I have to walk.”
“You’re too cute to argue with.”
“Just because you know I’m right.”
“How is the food?”
“Try it.” Kurt smiled, getting some of his food on a fork and feeding Blaine.
“It’s really good!” Blaine said when his mouthful was finished. “Try mine.”
Blaine did the same thing with his food, letting Kurt try it and hear the same thing back. They both had a main course and then shared a cheesecake for dessert. When that was over, Kurt paid for their food and drinks. Burt and Carole were still on their date, it looked like it was going well so Kurt decided to leave them to it. Blaine offered to take Kurt home in his car and when he did, he walked Kurt to the door and kissed him goodnight.
“May I see you again sweet, beautiful one?” Blaine asked with a smile.
“Yes you may oh handsome one.” Kurt kissed Blaine goodnight again. “Goodnight Blaine thanks for an amazing night.”
“Thank you Kurt, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
