The next morning Prince Blaine awoke with a smile on his face, the angel visited him again. He could feel the angel on his hand, had they touched last night? The thought of that increased his smile. He thought that his angel, if it wasn’t a girl, could well have been Jeremiah who he was seeing today. He needed new clothes and that was Jeremiah’s job. After his servant, whose name was Mike had dressed him he ran down the stairs trying to find Jeremiah. He was running so fast he didn’t see the servant that he bumped into and knocked to the ground.
“Oh i’m so sorry. Are you okay?” Prince Blaine asked as he held out his hand to help the servant up.
The servant was in fact Kurt, on his way to start cleaning some of the bathrooms. He took the hand that was offered to him and got to his feet, he felt the spark that ran through their hands but it was cut short when the prince pulled his hand away quickly and wiped it on the side of his clothes. Kurt quickly curtsied which the prince found curious.
“I am perfectly fine thank you.” Kurt replied as he fixed his dirty clothes. He was pretty dirty since he didn’t get much access to the showers, the servants were badly treated, well compared to him they were treated like royalty.
There was something about this servant, Blaine recognised him and his hand in his had felt so familiar. “I’m sorry, who are you?”
“I’m sure your highness has better things to do and better people to talk to.” Kurt looked at him for the first time. He would’ve told him his name if it hadn’t been for the king, he was scared of him.
“Why the reluctance?” Blaine asked, this servant made him curious there was something about him. His eyes drifted down to a cut on the servants arm. “What happened?”
Kurt quickly covered his arm and stepped back. “Its nothing, i just knocked it. I’m sorry but i have to go. Nice speaking to you, your highness. Have a nice day.” He said quickly as he picked up his bucket and hurried off.
Prince Blaine was about to call for him but he was gone and he didn’t know his name, his voice, it was beautiful and so was his face even though it was covered in dirt. He carried on his journey down to Jeremiah, but that servant just stuck in his head. Who was he? Why wouldn’t he tell him his name?

“Jeremiah,” Blaine smiled as he found him sitting in his chair sewing.
“Your highness.” Jeremiah stood up and bowed, this made Blaine think of the servant and how he curtsied. “What are you doing here?”
“A new robe is required and I was going to ask you to come for a walk with me. You have worked for me and my family for a few years now and I would like to get to know you.”
“Is this an order?”
“Quite possibly.” Blaine said back in a flirty voice, he was sure he was in love with Jeremiah and he hoped that he returned the feelings.
“Well then I have no choice.” Jeremiah put down the shirt he was sewing and stood up, he was much better dressed than the servant that Blaine had met just minutes before.
“I do have a question before we do. Do you know many of the servants?”
“Of course, who is it you are asking about?”
“I don’t know his name, he cleans that is all i know. He was very dirty and he had a cut on his arm.”
“I don’t know who you are talking about. But i do know that the cut is probably from the beatings he receives.”
“Beatings? What do you mean? Are servants being beaten?”
“Yes, well not all of them. I heard of one person who is beaten for being gay, he is always beaten. I’ve never seen or met the boy though. He works all the time and because he’s gay he has the most horrible chores and has to do them alone.”
“My father did this?”
“Yes.”
“Is my mother aware?”
“I don’t know, i’m sorry your highness.” Jeremiah bowed his head, Prince Blaine couldn’t believe what he had been told. That boy he had seen, had he been beaten?
“I’m sorry Jeremiah, I have to go and speak with my father.” Prince Blaine hurried from the room and began looking for his father. He saw Rachel making her way to his room when he stopped her.
“Rachel! Do you know if servants are being beaten?” He asked just wanting to find out if it was true.
“Yes they are. Not all of them, I’ve never been but there are some who are, especially...” Rachel stopped, Kurt had told her about the encounter he had had with the prince and told her not to tell him his name if he asked.
“Especially who Rachel? Is this the boy that is always beaten? I don’t know his name but Jeremiah told me about him.”
“I’m sorry your highness, he told me not to tell you his name.” Rachel shrugged.
“Why?” Blaine asked confused.
“He has his reasons. I’m assuming by you asking me about the beating that you didn’t know it was happening.”
“No, I didn’t. I’m on my way to see my father now and put a stop to it, if i had known earlier... god i wish i had known earlier. Do you think i could come down to the servants quarters later and talk to those who have been beaten and those who are doing it?” Blaine asked with a hopeful face.
“You can try, i don’t think that many people will open up. I know a few who have and may be willing to speak, Sam definitely will.”
“Thank you Rachel, i mean it. Thank you. I don’t suppose you can get the boy who is always beaten to speak to me, in private preferably.”
“I’m sorry your highness, as much as he wants to, he can’t.”
“Why?” Blaine really was confused, what was happening around here and why didn’t he know about it?
“I can’t say, I’m sorry. You should speak to your father.” Rachel curtsied and walked beside Blaine to the king’s room.

Kurt crept into Jeremiah’s work place and saw a box of material; it was old since it was labelled “scraps”. He dug around in the box and picked up as many pieces of material as he could, he was about to go to leave when the door swung open and Jeremiah was in the door way.
“What do you think you’re doing with all that?” He asked angrily, he grabbed Kurt by his arm hearing his wince but not caring. He dragged Kurt to the King’s room and stopped outside the door.
“But dad, this isn’t fair. Why must they be treated like that? Please stop it.” Kurt heard Prince Blaine through the door and his heart skipped then sunk. Jeremiah banged on the door and he heard the King tell them to enter. Kurt was pulled inside and pushed, he was on his knees in front of Blaine looking up and then quickly looking down. Prince Blaine immediately recognised the boy.
“What do I want with that?” The King asked disgusted as he looked at Jeremiah, refusing to look at Kurt.
“I caught him your majesty, stealing.” Jeremiah looked at Blaine then to the King and finally down at Kurt.
“I wouldn’t call it stealing your majesty, i simply call it helping. My fellow servants and I need new clothes. Ours are falling apart and we need someone who is willing to make them and I said I would.” Kurt looked up at the King.
“Don’t speak to me.” The King growled.
“Father, be reasonable.” Prince Blaine said looking from his dad to Kurt.
“Be reasonable? How can I be reasonable to someone like that!” The King pointed at Kurt in disgrace.
“Like what your majesty? Gay? I’m not ashamed of who I am and I am definitely not going to hide it. I am proud and I am not going to deny it. You can beat me all you want, keep me away from your precious son so i don’t “poison” him with my gayness because no matter what you do to me it will never change who I am.” Kurt stood proudly.
“Its you.” Prince Blaine said simply, Kurt was the boy who was suffering all these beatings. He had to stop it.
“You will see Sue immediately for beatings and then you are to work in the kitchens. You aren’t allowed to leave them.” The King finally spoke.
“No father, no beatings please. No one deserves them. Especially not this boy. Hasn’t he suffered with them enough? Just because you don’t like who he is and you don’t like gays doesn’t mean you can treat them like this.” Blaine looked at Kurt.
Kurt curtsied at the two royals and left, followed by Jeremiah. Blaine went to go after him but the King took his arm and stopped him. “Blaine, he isn’t worth it. None of them are. Now you and I need to discuss Princess Santana’s arrival.”
“I’m not marrying her, father.” Prince Blaine said simply.
“Yes son you are. You have no choice.”
“I don’t want to marry her dad; i want to marry someone of my own choice.”
“If you don’t find someone by the end of the month then you will marry her.” King Sean said simply as he made a hand motion for his son to leave the room.
Prince Blaine went to leave the room but stopped. “If you hate that boy so much, why don’t you just fire him?”
“Because he is one of the best workers we have. Also I don’t want a servant rebellion on my hands. Now leave.”
And so Prince Blaine did.
