A few hours later Kurt awoke, Blaine was still in the same position as he was when he fell asleep and Kurt’s hand was still resting on his head, with his arm around him. Kurt put the arm that was on Blaine’s head around him, holding Blaine while he still slept. He smiled as he watched his boyfriend sleep, he caught a small smile appear on Blaine’s face making his own grow wider.
In Blaine’s dream, Kurt had found the ring before he could make his super romantic proposal. He said yes anyways, but it still wouldn’t be good enough. Blaine wanted to make this the most sappy romantic thing on the planet. Oh god, what if Kurt folds up my pants when I was sleeping and finds the ring? The thought woke Blaine up, and his eyes fluttered open to find that he was snuggled up in Kurt’s arms with his boyfriend smiling down at him. “Good morning to you too.” Blaine said, smiling. His vision wasn’t working properly yet, and he rubbed his eyes.
“Sleep well?” Kurt asked when Blaine suddenly woke up. “or did i wake you up?” Kurt rubbed his arm up and down Blaine’s still smiling.
“You didn’t wake me up.” Blaine said, nestling his head into Kurt’s chest taking in a big breath. “How’d you sleep then?” Blaine asked opening his eyes to look a Kurt.
“I slept well, what about you?” Kurt kissed Blaine’s head and began to stroke his hair again. “I saw you smiling earlier, it must have been a good dream.”
“It was half of the time.” Blaine said truthfully. He loved waking up next to Kurt, and the thought that someday in the future he would be able to do that every day sent him into a grin. He pulled Kurt closer and craned his neck to kiss Kurt’s cheek.
“Half of the time? What does that mean?” Kurt asked. He loved waking up beside Blaine, he hoped Blaine felt the same, he wanted to do it every single day. He saw a grin appear on Blaine’s face and smiled back wider than before. He saw Blaine crane his neck trying to reach something on his face, Kurt assumed it was his lips so he met him half way.
“Well, my dream was good and bad at the same time.” Blaine leaned up and Kurt’s lips met his. He smiled and his hand wrapped around to Kurt’s neck, bringing him in closer. When they pulled away after a minute or two of kissing, Blaine opened his eyes and smiled at Kurt. “This is nice.”
“This is what we have to look forward to once we’re married, waking up next to each other every day.” He smiled giving Blaine a peck and then resumed looking into Blaine’s eyes. He moved the hand that was stroking Blaine’s head onto his face and began to stroke that with his thumb.
Blaine stared up at Kurt with that love struck smile of his. “I know. I honestly can’t wait.” He snuggled up next to Kurt and sighed. “We should get going soon if we want to make that lunch.” Blaine noticed aloud.
“I can’t wait either.” He smiled lovingly back at Blaine. When Blaine snuggled up next to him, Kurt hugged him tight. “Yeah we should, on the way you can tell me all about Taylor and Jack.”
“I can do that.” Blaine said, smiling. He sat up and stretched his arms out, careful not to hit Kurt in the face at all. He swung his legs out of bed and stretched some more before reaching down to pick up his pants. The box was still in them, and he smiled, knowing that it was safe.

Kurt waited until Blaine was off the bed before getting up himself. He stood up and stretched. He fixed his shirt and jeans before turning to Blaine. “You ready?”
“I’m ready when you are.” Blaine said with a smile, leaning down to pick up his bag. Kurt did the same and once they had their stuff, Blaine turned to look at the room. “We didn’t even change into pajamas or get under the covers last night.” He said, closing and locking the door behind them before walking through the hotel with Kurt.
“I know, shocking.” Kurt laughed. “Well i didn’t really have a chance to since you were asleep on me but i didn’t mind.” He said carrying his things. “Got everything? We don’t want to leave anything behind.”
“You could’ve pushed me off so you could change and get under the covers.” Blaine said, feeling guilty that Kurt couldn’t make himself comfortable because Blaine was to busy making himself comfortable. He turned around, checking to make sure he had everything. Bag? Check. Guitar? Check. Ukulele? Check. Phone? Check. Engagement ring? Check. Boy I’m madly in love with? Check. “I’ve got everything.” Blaine said with a smile as he walked up to the desk to check out. A few minutes later he returned to Kurt. “Alright, let’s hit the road.”
“Lets go.” He said as the two of them made their way out to the car. Kurt put this bags down and opened the trunk for Blaine to put his stuff in, Kurt’s stuff following. He closed it and jumped into the car. Kurt made himself comfortable and put on his seat belt. “Next stop Vermont.” He smiled as Blaine pulled away.
Blaine took the familiar route to the small town in Vermont he was taking Kurt to. The car ride was spent with them singing and talking and laughing their heads off. Once the pair had gotten to Vermont, they were both hungry. “Let’s go to the lunch before I take you to where we are staying okay?” Blaine said, and Kurt agreed. Blaine got his phone out and called Taylor to let them know they were about five minutes away. “Hey Taylor…… Yeah, we’re still coming…. Uh huh….. We’re five minutes away…. Right…. Tell Jack I’m almost there….. Right….. See you in a few.”
Kurt smiled at Blaine. “So does Taylor have any interesting and embarrassing stories about my boyfriend to tell me?” Blaine looked at him and bit his lip. “I’m going to take that as a yes. Is there anything that i shouldn’t ask or mention around them? Because some people don’t like certain topics brought up.”
“She probably does. There are just too many not to pass up an opportunity to make me look stupid for Taylor.” Blaine looked up at the ceiling, thinking. “Not that I can think of. They’re pretty cool people. Oh, don’t mention spiders around Jack. He’s deathly afraid of them.” Blaine said as he pulled up to his family friends’ house. He got out of the car and walked over to open the door for Kurt. Once Kurt was out, Blaine went over to the trunk and got his ukulele out. His fingers intertwined with Kurt’s as they walked up to the house, knocking on the door.

Kurt was excited to meet Blaine’s friends, he was even more excited when Blaine got his ukulele out. He looked down at their intertwined fingers and then looked up at Blaine, he smiled. He felt a bit nervous in meeting Taylor and Jack, they were old family friends and he wanted to make a good impression. He gripped Blaine’s hand as the door opened and Blaine saw Jack standing there. “Blainey!” He practically screamed and hugged Blaine, who by that time had dropped to a squat so they could be the same height. “Hey little man! It’s been a while!” Blaine picked Jack up and spun him in the air, making the six year old giggle uncontrollably. He stopped spinning but kept Jack in his arms as he turned towards Kurt. “Kurt, meet Jack, the coolest six year old on the planet.” Blaine said, and Jack giggled again. “Jack, this is Kurt, one of the best things to ever happen to me. Besides you of course.” Blaine said, tickling Jack. He didn’t see Taylor walk up until a few seconds later.
Kurt marvelled at how well Blaine was with Jack, he smiled widely watching the two of them. When Blaine said that Kurt was one of the best things to ever happen to him, Kurt blushed. He held out his hand for Jack to shake. “Hi Jack, Blaine’s told me a lot about you.” He smiled as Jack shook his hand smiling. Kurt turned to the door to see someone he assumed was Taylor standing there.
Blaine grinned as Kurt shook Jack’s hand and he set the six year old down right after. “And what do I get? Nothing?” Blaine heard a voice from behind him say, and he turned around, laughing. “Taylor! Like I said to Jack, it’s been forever!” Taylor was a few months younger than Blaine, but she was taller. He pulled her in for a hug, and she hugged him back with a smile. “And you must be Kurt.” Taylor said, turning towards Kurt and pulling him in for a hug. “So glad you guys could come. Mom and dad are in the kitchen and will be out in a second.” Taylor said, leading them back into the house.
Kurt was not expecting a hug but he didn’t complain he hugged her back. “Hi.” He said back unsure of what else to say. Kurt looked at Blaine when Taylor said her parents were in, Blaine didn’t say anything about parents. Taylor walked inside and motioned for them to follow, Kurt would have taken Blaine’s hand but his only available hand was taken by Jack. He smiled watching Blaine being pulled inside by the small boy.
Blaine was being pulled through the house by Jack and was pulled to the ground to play Lego’s with the boy. Taylor stood next to Kurt, watching as Kurt was watching Blaine play with Jack with a look of complete adoration. “I take it you and Blaine are together, right?” Taylor asked, leaning against the wall watching Blaine along with Kurt.
Kurt was watching Blaine play with Jack with complete adoration; he didn’t notice Taylor standing next to him. When Taylor spoke to him, he jumped slightly and looked at her. “Yeah we are.” He smiled widely and then looked back at the two kids playing on the floor.
“If you two are, every teenage girl in this town is going to hate you.” Taylor said, smiling. Kurt looked worried and horrified, an Taylor cleared her throat, dreading she said the wrong thing to Blaine’s boyfriend. “No, it’s just…. All the girls in town have recently fallen in love with him. I mean, one year we saw him and he was cute, dorky Blaine. The next year we saw this incredibly hot, manly Blaine with abs and everything.” Taylor tried to explain. “Most of the girls here are still in love with him and don’t believe that fact that he’s gay.” she said with a shrug, looking at her younger brother and the guy she used to have giant crush on.

Kurt looked at Taylor with worry and horror in his face as she explained that every teenage girl in town fancied his boyfriend and that they were going to hate him. “I-I guess I’ll have to avoid every girl in town if i want to get home in one piece.” He laughed nervously. The way Blaine spoke about Taylor it made Kurt think that she was older but clearly he was wrong.
“Good plan.” Taylor said with a laugh as Blaine walked up with Jack on his shoulders. “Hey.” He said with a smile, giving Kurt a quick peck on the cheek. “You’re not telling any embarrassing stories about me, are you Taylor?” Blaine asked, turning tirades his old friend. He knew that she, along with a lot of other girls in the city, used to be smitten with him, but he didn’t let that bother him. “Nope. I’m being good, just like you asked.” Taylor said, taking Jack from Blaine. Blaine noticed Kurt was looking horrified and worried about something. “You okay?”
Kurt nodded quickly. “Taylor was just giving me some advice.” The worry and horror vanished from his face, but his nerves still showed. Blaine gave Kurt a look which obviously meant elaborate. “She was telling me about your many admirers and how i should avoid every girl in town.” He laughed again nervously.
Blaine looked at Kurt as he spoke, still nervous about something. “Oh them… Yeah. For some reason the girls in this town adore me. Even though they know they don’t have a chance…” Blaine said with a smile before leaning in for a slow but quick kiss. When he pulled away, Jack came running through the door.
“Blainey! The dragons are attacking! Come help!” Blaine laughed and felt someone small pull at the bottom of his shirt, willing him to follow him.

Kurt laughed and looked down at the boy pulling on Blaine’s shirt. “Well Blainey if the dragons are attacking, you better go and help.” Hesmiled at him.
Blaine stuck his tongue out at Kurt when he called him Blainey. “Alright, but I’ll need my sword!” Blaine said, picking the six year old up an flying him around the room to where te swords lay. Taylor was called into the other room, leaving just Kurt, Blaine, and Jack in the room. Jack went up to Kurt and pulled on the bottom of his shirt. “Do you want to come play too?”
Kurt watched and laughed as Blaine flew him round the room. He was surprised when Jack came over and asked him to play. Kurt melted inside when he was asked, he nodded. “Yeah i do.” He smiled. Jack took his hand and pulled him to where Blaine was.
Jack grinned when Kurt agreed to play and took his hand, leading him back to Blaine. “You sit there.” Jack instructed, pointing to Blaine’s lap. He usually sat on Blaine’s lap, but he wanted to give his new friend a turn. He sat down across from them. “But Blaine, forever is a really long time.” Jack said, handing each of the older boys one of his toys.
Kurt sat where Jack instructed him to which was on Blaine’s lap. He took the toy that was handed to him, he turned his head to Blaine. “What have you two been talking about?”
Blaine laughed before looking at Kurt. “Jack here asked if we were going to keep you, and I said I’m keeping you forever. Which you’re right, Jack. Forever is a long time. But it’s not quite long enough.” Blaine said with a smile, wrapping his arms around the boy in his lap and taking the toy dragon handed to him.
Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine’s cheek before turning back to Jack. “Forever isn’t long enough but thats how long i’m going to stay for. I would stay longer but its not in my contract.” He winked at Blaine. His spare hand rested on the arms that were wrapped around him.
“At least not yet it isn’t.” Blaine teased, giving Kurt a kiss on the cheek as a response to the one he got earlier. Jack saw both kisses an covered his eyes. “Cooties! Cooties! Kisses give you cooties!” Jack said, hands still covering his eyes as Taylor and her parents walked back into the room.
“Hi guys!” Blaine said to them, waving.
Kurt bit his lip when Blaine kisses his cheek; he turned to Jack and laughed when he covered his eyes. Kurt looked to the door to see Taylor and what he guessed was her parents. He smiled at them.
“Lunch is ready for you boys and Taylor when you want it. We’re going to go run an errand an will be right back.” Taylor’s mom said with a smile as she left the house. Jack uncovered his eyes and ran to the kitchen, taking Kurt’s hand and pulling him along with him. Blaine stood up once Kurt was out of his lap and followed behind them, laughing.

Once again Kurt was surprised; this was a day full of surprises. He didn’t expect Jack to take his hand and literally pull him to the kitchen. He turned his head and looked at Blaine laughing, he had to turn his head back quickly otherwise he’d trip or stand on the lego pieces on the floor. Kurt and Jack got to the kitchen first and waited for Blaine to arrive.
Blaine walked into the room to see Jack still clutching Kurt’s hand and he smiled, melting a little. “Squirt can go first.” Jack said, letting go of Kurt’s hand and stepping back. Blaine and Kurt sent each other confused looks.
“Who’s Squirt?” Blaine asked, picking Jack up.
Jack pointed to Kurt. “Him, Blainey. Didn’t you say his name was Squirt?” Jack asked, looking up at Blaine. Jack was just too adorable for Blaine to correct, plus the name was funny.
“Go ahead Squirt.” Blaine said to Kurt with a wink.
Kurt smiled at the adorable little boy who got his name wrong. He wasn’t going to correct him and Blaine seemed to like it and he laughed when Blaine called him ‘Squirt’ and winked at him. “Sure thing Blainey, i’ll go first.” He grinned back going forward to get his lunch.
Blaine watched as Kurt got his plate and helped Jack get his. After they had their stuff they went to sit at the table. Lunch was filled with conversations about dragons, race cars, and Toy Story. Taylor came in after they had finished eating. “Hey guys, so sorry to break this up, but Jack here has a Karate lesson we completely forgot about.” Blaine and Kurt said they understood, but Jack wouldn’t leave yet.
“No! Blainey has to play the mini guitar for me like he promised!” Jack protested with a pout. Blaine got up and grabbed his ukulele, listening as Taylor said he had five minutes.
Kurt was glad that Jack protested as he wanted to listen to Blaine play too. He watched as Blaine got up and grabbed his ukulele and began to play it. He stared at Blaine as he played, eyes filled with love. Every now and then Blaine would look up and smile at him, he would smile back. In the corner of his eye he could Jack enjoying the music just as much as Kurt was, probably more since he was dancing. Kurt rested his chin on his hand and continued to watch Blaine.
Blaine began to play random riffs on his ukulele, then chord progressions. Every so often he would look up to see Jack dancing and Kurt staring at him, hypnotized or something. Blaine grinned and looked back down at his ukulele, playing a song he knew Kurt would know. Jack recognized it too and began to sing loudly along with Blaine as he sang Hey Soul Sister.
Kurt smiled widely as Blaine began to play Hey Soul Sister, he laughed when Jack began singing along loudly. Jack started dancing even more crazily, Kurt was about to join in the singing when Taylor came back into the room and said it was time for Jack to go to Karate.
Blaine stopped playing when Taylor came back in and Jack pouted but nodded in agreement. He walked over to give Kurt a hug and then gave Blaine a much longer one. Blaine packed up his ukulele and walked over to Kurt, taking his hand and intertwining their fingers.

Blaine had to move his car so Taylor and Jack could leave, plus he and Kurt needed to go to the place they were staying. He led Kurt out to his car and opened his door for him, being the perfect gentleman.
Kurt found his fingers intertwined with Blaine’s after hugging Jack. He smiled at Blaine and followed him to his car when he had to move it so Taylor and Jack could get out. He smiled wider when Blaine opened the door for him. “You’re such a gentleman, thank you.” He said climbing into the car and waited for Blaine.
“I do my best.” Blaine teased and walked over to his side of the car, getting in. He pulled out after waving bye to Taylor and Jack. The drive was a short one because where they were staying was in the same town. Blaine hadn’t told Kurt that his family has a house in Vermont, and he saw the shock on Kurt’s face as he pulled up into the driveway of his house in Vermont. “Here we are.”
Kurt’s face was shocked, a good shocked but still shocked when he saw the house. “Th-this is your house?” he asked. Blaine nodded proudly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Yep. Surprise!” Blaine said with a laugh as he got out of the car and opened Kurt’s door for him. He walked around to the back of the car while Kurt was staring at the house and got his bag and instruments out from the trunk. “Kurt, come get your stuff. You can stare at that later.” Blaine teased, calling Kurt over.
Kurt couldn’t help but stare, it was a beautiful house and he was in shock. When Blaine called him it was hard for him to tear his eyes away. He walked to the car and got his bags out closing the trunk behind him. By the time Kurt had closed the trunk and picked up his bags Blaine was already at the door waiting for Kurt.
“Come on slowpoke.” Blaine teased, opening the door to the house and setting his bags down inside. He ran back out, taking one of Kurt’s bags for him, and followed as Kurt went inside for the first time. He took both his Kurt’s bags from him and carried them to the room Kurt was staying in before coming back out and smiling at Kurt. “Well, what do you think? Has Vermont turned out so far so good?”
Kurt was almost speechless he didn’t know what to say, he looked at Blaine and laughed with no sound coming out. “I think… oh my god… wow! We’ve only been here a few hours and already its been surprising. Its turned out more amazing than i expected and hoped.”
Blaine smiled to himself and his hand went into his pocket, feeling the little box he had inside. This trip could be even more amazing if you just wait…. Blaine walked into the living room, motioning for Kurt to follow him, and slumped down onto the couch. “What do you want to do?” Blaine asked, smiling up at Kurt.
Kurt followed Blaine into the living room. “I leave you to plan a trip to Vermont only so when we get there you ask me what i want to do? You’re a poor planner.” He joked sitting down next to Blaine.
“Be nice now.” Blaine said with a pout. “I didn’t plan anything about today because I didn’t know when we were getting here. We have the whole house to ourselves, there’s gotta be something you want to do.” The first part was a complete lie; Blaine had planned and planned and planned… but not for what Kurt was thinking.
Kurt looked at the face with the pout and kissed it. “We have the whole house to yourselves, i like the sound of that, this is…” Kurt trailed off, he began to think. This is what it was going to be like when they married, them two living together, the whole house to themselves all the time until they have children. A smile grew on Kurt’s face.
“This is…?” Blaine asked, watching as Kurt was thinking of something. The lips that had just left his grew into a smile, and Blaine wondered what was going on in Kurt’s head. “What are you thinking about?” He asked Kurt, putting an arm around him and pulling him close.
