“You look amazing. But I messed up your hair and, knowing you, you’ll want to have it in pristine shape when we go out in public.” Blaine said with a smile. He was glad Kurt didn’t ask any more questions. He had another surprise planned. Blaine adjusted his shirt back down onto his chest and looked at Kurt. “Just tell me when you want to go.”
Kurt got up and looked in the mirror. “Wow you really did mess up my hair and i spent a while on that this morning.” he said smiling. He got out his comb and his hair spray and quickly went over it fixing it. “That’s better, its not perfect but it’ll do.” he turned to Blaine. “Don’t you want to go home and get changed?”
“Sorry about that….” Blaine watched as Kurt fixed his hair again. “Are you saying you’re not loving seeing this outfit two days in a row?” He teased, rubbing his shirt for emphasis. “Sure. We could do that.” His phone vibrated and he looked down at it. After reading it he looked up, thinking, before quickly responding. “Looks like you don’t have to drop me off at the grocery store anymore. My mom is there right now and is getting me the thing I need.”
“Of course I’m loving it but i think you need to change otherwise you’ll gross me out.” He laughed ruffling Blaine’s hair. “I wish you’d tell me what you’re up to, you’re making me suspicious and confused” he smiled. What could Blaine possibly need at the grocery store? He asked himself as he went to his bag and rummaged through it.
“Poor confused baby.” Blaine said, standing up and getting all of his things together. He got another text from his mom, who just bought the thing he asked for and was on her way home to give it to him. When he looked up, Blaine noticed Kurt going through his bag, wondering what he was up to. “What are you looking for?” He asked, walking up to Kurt with a smile. “Ready?”
“I’m just checking to make sure i have everything.” Kurt was checking to make sure everything he put in there was in there. He walked to his drawer and pulled out the candle and placed it gently in his bag. He took his jacket from the back of his chair and threw it on. He picked up his shoulder bag and put it on. Kurt took a deep breath and smiled at Blaine. “I’m ready.”
Blaine put on a slightly sad smile and put his arm around Kurt. “Alright. Let’s go.” He lead Kurt out of the room and they went down the stairs. Carole was in the living room, and Blaine smiled at her, trying not to laugh thinking about what she had said to Kurt. He lifted his free hand in a wave and they headed towards the door. Blaine opened it for Kurt, arm still around him, and they walked out of the house, closing the door behind them.
Kurt was being led down the stairs by Blaine who had his arm around him. He saw Carole in the living room and weakly smiled at her before walking out the front door. Kurt unlocked his car and jumped in the driving seat waiting for Blaine to get in.
Blaine slid into the seat next to Kurt and the two headed off towards Blaine’s house. The car was silent for a while, except for Blaine’s directions to his house every once in a while. Desperate to break the silence, Blaine turned towards Kurt. “I told Wes that he has some competition in the Wii world. He wants to set up another Warbler Wii night soon.” They were getting closer to Blaine’s house as he spoke.
“Some competition? Who could that possibly be?” he asked turning his head slightly. “A Wii night? Is that who you were texting this morning?”
”Yes sir.” Blaine said with a smile. “Wes is sooo ready to challenge you in baseball. It’ll be killing him.” They turned onto Blaine’s street and inched closer to his house. When they pulled up and parked, Blaine turned to face Kurt completely. “Do you want to go in or stay here?” He asked, tilting his head.
“He wants to challenge me in baseball? I’m not even that good” he smiled. “I’m going to need to get lots of practice” Kurt pulled up outside Blaine’s house. “I think if i stayed here i’ll be waiting for a while with nothing to look at, at least in there i will”
”Cool.” Blaine said with a smile and got out of the car with Kurt following behind him. They walked up to the door and into the Anderson house together, side by side. Blaine didn’t see his mom, and he called out “Mom! I’m here! I’m going to go change clothes and then go somewhere with Kurt!” He heard a response coming from somewhere, must have been the kitchen.
“Alright honey! I left the thing you asked me to get on the table!” His mom called back.
“Kay!” Blaine lead Kurt up the stairs into his room, which was pretty messy. “Sorry about the mess… I would’ve cleaned it up if I knew you were coming over.”
Kurt looked around as Blaine and he entered the house, it was a nice house he thought to himself. He listened to Blaine and his mum talk before following Blaine to his room. His eyes shot wide open when he saw Blaine’s room. “I think we found what we’re doing later” he joked.
”Don’t make fun of my poor room.” Blaine laughed and shut the door behind them. “Sit down while I change, or you could always get a head start on cleaning if you really wanted.” He smiled at Kurt and walked to his dresser, looking for something to change into. He grabbed another pair of jeans and a plain black t-shirt.“I’ll be in here.” Blaine pointed to a door that lead to the bathroom. He walked in and shut the door partially. He never seemed to shut the door when he got changed.
Kurt moved slowly towards the door that Blaine had just gone through and started to slowly pick up some of the mess on his floor. He looked up and saw Blaine remove his t-shirt.
Blaine tore off his shirt after turning on the light in the bathroom. He ran his hand through his mess of curls and began to reach for the gel, but decided against it. If Kurt wanted him to have gel in his hair, he’d ask for him to put it in. He unbuttoned and slid his jeans down to the floor, stepping out of them. Once again, he stood in a bathroom in nothing but his Buzz Light-Year boxers. Blaine laughed and poked at his chest, which Kurt seemed to love. He reached for his fresh pair of jeans and slowly began to put them on.
Kurt’s mouth dropped open as Blaine removed his jeans, he was standing there in just his Buzz Light-Year boxers. He was screaming in his head especially when Blaine began laughing and poking at his chest. He was shouting no repeatedly in his head when Blaine put on new jeans.
As Blaine put on his jeans, he realized they were tighter than his previous ones. Oh well. He reached for his shirt and began to put it on. It felt good to be in different clothes. When he was completely dressed again, he turned off the light to the bathroom and walked into his room to see Kurt putting away some of Blaine’s things that were sprawled on the floor. “Ready?” He asked, smiling.
Kurt turned round after putting something’s away, Blaine’s jeans were tighter than the last pair, especially round his butt. Kurt nodded and watched him as they made their way out of the room. It took everything in him not to keep staring at his butt so he looked at Blaine’s crazy hair that he had not gelled.
Blaine went down the stairs with Kurt behind him and walked towards the table where the thing that he had asked his mom to get him was laying. He saw Kurt’s eyebrows shoot up and his eyes grow wide after seeing what was on the table. Blaine picked up the large arrangement of flowers his mom had brought home for him and turned towards Kurt with a smile. “I asked my mom to pick these up for her. I hope she’ll like them.”
Kurt saw the large arrangement of flowers Blaine’s mum had brought for Blaine. His eyes began to water as he hugged Blaine tight making Blaine moved the flowers out of the way first. “She’ll love them.” he said
”Awesome.” Blaine hugged Kurt back tightly, his hand rubbing up and down Kurt’s back comfortingly. Blaine knew that this would only be the beginning of the tears, but he wanted to get flowers for Mrs. Hummel. He knew that it meant a lot to Kurt that he was going to go see her, and he was not going to show up without something. The flowers were back on the table and he picked them up when Kurt pulled away, heading towards the door.
Kurt couldn’t express what Blaine getting flowers meant to him, he tried to say thank you but the words wouldn’t come out. He’d never taken anyone to go to her grave with him and Blaine going with him meant so much. They headed towards the door once Kurt pulled away. He climbed back into his car and wiped the tears away before starting the car.
Blaine sat in the car, flowers in his lap, and watched as Kurt pulled out of the driveway and began driving. He wanted nothing more for someone else to be driving so he could hold Kurt. He knew the next hour or so where going to be really difficult for him. Blaine and Kurt sat in the car in silence, both thinking. The silence wasn’t awkward or unneeded. After a while a driving, they arrived at the cemetery and Blaine got out of the car before Kurt even turned it off to walk over to the driver’s side of the car and open the door for Kurt.
Kurt took a deep breath as he stopped the car, Blaine had already got out and opened the door for him. “Thank you.” he said jumping out. He took hold of Blaine’s spare hand and led him to the grave. He stopped in front of it and removed the flowers that he had placed here just a few days ago and watched as Blaine put the new ones down. When he put them down there was sunlight over the grave. He looked at Blaine eyes tear filled. “She likes them.”
Blaine was shocked when sunlight hit the grave when the flowers were set down. He watched as tears formed in Kurt’s eyes and he walked over to Kurt and pulled him into the tightest of hugs. His own eyes became watery, but he wasn’t full out crying like Kurt was yet. They stood there in a hug looking down at the grave for a little while longer. Kurt pulled away and wiped his tears off his cheek, and Blaine turned towards the grave and sat down next to the tombstone. “Hi, Mrs. Hummel. I’m Blaine.” He began, his voice trying to be cheerful. “I go to Dalton with Kurt, and I’m currently madly in love with him. But shhh, don’t tell him.”
Kurt was sat opposite Blaine going through his bag, he was crying but also smiling, smiling at what Blaine was saying. When he found the candle, which was what he was looking for, he went into his pocket and pulled out a box of matches. While Blaine talked to his mom he lit the candle and closed his eyes.
”I have another secret. Promise not to tell?” As Kurt was lighting the candle, Blaine cupped his hand over the side of his mouth as if he were talking in her ear and whispered something that Kurt couldn’t hear. When he was done, he removed his hand from the side of his face and took Kurt’s free hand in his own. “Don’t tell him that part either. It’s an even bigger secret than the one before.” Blaine gave Kurt’s hand a squeeze and looked at him, even though his eyes were closed.
Kurt felt a hand take his and assumed it was Blaine so he squeezed back. His eyes were still shut and he deeply breathed. “She’s good at keeping secrets, i’ve told her so many.” He said quietly.
”Well that’s good. I would ask her what secrets, but that defeats the purpose.” Blaine was still looking at Kurt, watching as his breathing became deeper. He turned back to Kurt’s mom, intertwining his fingers with Kurt’s. “Well, here are some more secrets. Kurt and I are going up to Vermont, then getting married in New York, honeymooning in Paris if I remember correctly, and capturing Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom when they were young to be our children. Draco and Neville are from Harry Potter. I’m kind of a giant Harry Potter nerd and a dork in general.” Blaine smiled to himself.
As Blaine intertwined their fingers his eyes opened. He looked at Blaine. “Mom loved Vermont, her grandmother used to live there and every summer she’d stay there for a bit. She always meant to take me to New York too, that’s the other reason why i chose that place for us to marry. Paris well you know me mom, i love my romance and Paris is supposed to be the most romantic city. Its just perfect. Blaine is a dork but he’s a lovable dork and that’s what makes me love him so much. I told you all about him didn’t i? And now you’ve met him, i hope this won’t be the last time you see him. He’s allowed here whenever he wants” he looked at Blaine squeezing his hand and smiled. “She likes you, i can tell.”
Blaine looked at Kurt when his hand was squeezed and smiled at him. He scooted closer to Kurt and his free arm wrapped around him. Soon after, Kurt’s head was on his shoulder. “This is probably the best first meeting of any of the adults in Kurt’s life I’ve had so far.” He told Kurt’s mom, laughing a little bit. “The first time I met Burt, I was asleep in Kurt’s bed. Then I met him again when he caught me kissing Kurt… shirtless.” He hesitated. “Then I talked to Burt about something, which added to another awkward meeting. And with Carole, I just formally met her today. She got a mix of the first two meetings with Burt: She found me shirtless in Kurt’s bed.”
Kurt rested his head on Blaine’s shoulder watching the candle in his spare hand. He smiled when Blaine told his mom all about his meetings with Burt and Carole. “I like that this isn’t awkward, but the awkward meetings are the most memorable i have to admit. I hope that this is a memorable meeting.”
”It will be for me at least.” Blaine rested his head on top of Kurt’s, trying his best not to mess up the boy’s hair. He sighed before beginning to talk again. “I talked one-on-one with both Burt and Carole afterwards the awkward meetings and admitted I loved you son to both of them. Which I do. Completely. That’s why I told you my secret.” Blaine smiled to himself again. “I’m a so much of a hopeless romantic it should be illegal.”
Kurt couldn’t help but smile. “I’m guessing that i’m not allowed to know this secret?” he asked looking up at Blaine, he kissed his cheek before resting his head back were it was. “And like i’ve already told you a million times mom, i’m completely and utterly, head over heels in love with Blaine.”
“Nope. Kurt’s not allowed to know, so don’t tell him, okay?” Blaine laughed and rested the cheek Kurt had just kissed back on his head. “If you can’t tell, Mrs. Hummel, we’re both so very sappy around each other. Some of our friends even pretend that they are us and act all romantic, but we could care less.”
“I think she can tell, almost everything i know about you she does, well probably about the same since she’s always watching. We are both incredibly sappy and just like Blaine said we couldn’t care less what people said or did” he squeezed the hand that he was holding. “I plan to marry this guy one day mom, i wish you were here to see if for real.”
Blaine looked down at Kurt and grinned. “See? Complete saps. And you already know my plan, Mrs. Hummel.” They sat in a thoughtful silence for a minute or two until a breeze blew in, causing Blaine to feel the boy under his arm shiver. He let go of his hand and wrapped both arms around Kurt before gently lifting him up and setting Kurt in his lap. Arms still wrapped around Kurt, Blaine rested his chin on Kurt’s shoulder. “Better?”
The breeze caused Kurt to shiver and was pleasantly surprised when Blaine wrapped his arms around him gently lifting him onto his lap. He turned his head to look at him. “Much, thank you” he kissed Blaine’s nose as it was the closest thing he could reach. “Thank you for all this, i’m so glad i have you. I love you.”
Blaine copied the move Kurt did so often when he kissed his nose and scrunched it up when Kurt kissed it. He looked at Kurt and smiled. “You don’t need to thank me. I wouldn’t miss coming here and seeing your amazing mother.” His arms gave Kurt a squeeze and lightly kissed his neck. “I love you too.” Blaine turned his head back to look at the grave. “There we go again, Mrs. Hummel. Being complete and utter saps.”
Kurt smiled back. “I do need to thank you though, this means so much to me” he put his hands on the ones that were wrapped around him. “He’s all sappy and romantic he hypnotizes me, i don’t think i’d be this sappy with anyone else not that i would ever be with anyone else.”
“You sure?” Blaine asked with a wink. He picked up one hand and cupped it to his face and said in a loud whisper loud enough for Kurt to hear. “There’s this other guy, Cedric. He goes to Hogwarts and is a Triwizard champion. Forgive my Harry Potter dorkiness, but Kurt’s crazy over him. He’s your son’s eye candy, and I get extremely jealous.”
Kurt smiled widely and bit his lip so he wouldn’t laugh. “He’s sooo dreamy and so unbelievably hot.” he grinned. “And there’s also another guy, Blaine’s so in love with Oliver Wood and its hard for me not to get jealous, lucky for me though when his scenes came up on the tv he was asleep so he wasn’t able to drool over him.” he nudged Blaine slightly.
“I could drool over him right now, if you would like.” Blaine laughed and got his phone out of hit pocket. He held it up and unlocked it, not sure if Kurt could see that he was the background on his phone. He opened up a picture of Oliver Wood and held it out in front of Kurt so he could see. “Look. Look at that and tell me he’s not adorable. Plus he’s got this accent… it’s amazing.” Blaine smiled and exited out of the picture so his background was showing. “But this is perfection.”
“Noo don’t drool i don’t want any on my outfit.” He laughed leaning forward slightly. “Yes he’s adorable and he has an accent but he’s nothing compared to Cedric” he looked at Blaine’s background and smiled, it was a picture of them two together. Kurt pointed to the picture of Blaine. “Yes that is perfection,” He got out his phone and got up a picture of a shirtless Cedric. “Now tell me that isn’t hot.” he grinned. He went back to his background which was a shirtless picture of Blaine he managed to sneak without Blaine noticing.
