Kurt was having such an amazing time jumping in the huge puddles on the roadside as he crossed them. He was so close to Aunt Maggie’s now, this area was familiar so in just a few turns he would be there. He couldn’t wait for Aunt Maggie to meet his kitten, Amber. She wasn’t very old and this was her first journey out of the city. He smiled down at Amber and continued to walk.
“We’re getting close now Amber. Aunt Maggie’s fashion house is right on this street.” Kurt told his little fluffy ginger kitten. He led her down the road like he had just said. He saw a woman outside of a fashion house, one that wasn’t Aunt Maggie’s, and she was telling someone what to do. Kurt could see through the window that she was talking to her assistant who was moving a mannequin with a fancy dress and hat on.
“Janine, to the left a little.” Kurt heard the blonde woman in charge say. The woman’s hair had a huge quiff and the rest of her hair was short, shorter than Kurt’s. She was wearing a purple puff jacket with big white and black buttons that went with a lilac beaded belt and a pink skirt. Kurt noticed she was also wearing black fingerless gloves. “Too much. Back to the right.” He heard her say again in her French accent. “To the left a little. To the left!” The woman was getting impatient and frustrated now and Kurt could see that Janine (which he heard was pronounced Zanine) was trying her hardest and felt bad for her. The other woman was red haired and her hair came down to her shoulders. She was olive skinned with fancy gold accessories, gold hairclips, earrings and a long, big beaded necklace. Her skirt was petalled and yellow, her shirt was half orange and half mint green, her gloves were also mint green and they came up to her forearms. Poor Janine was trying so hard but she ended up slipping over while pushing the mannequin.

Inside this woman’s shop, it was completely green from what Kurt could see, mixes of greens and black. It was quite dark in there and the fashions reflected the colours that he could see. The woman in charge sighed and rolled her eyes at her, what she called, useless assistant. She folded her arms and waited for Janine to get to her feet. The blonde woman turned and saw Kurt for the first time and smirked.
“Janine, come.” He heard her say, clicking her fingers and making her assistant come running. “Monsieur, bonjoir.”
Kurt smiled at the two. “Oh. Bonjoir.”
“Forgive me for the interruption...” The blonde woman started. “But you have a fashion sense absolument formidable (absolutely wonderful).”
Kurt knew he had an amazing fashion sense but it never hurt to hear it from people who also knew it, especially ones who had their own fashion house like this woman. “Oh, how very nice. Thank you.”
“I am Celine, of Celine’s Fashion House.” Celine looked up at her fashion house proudly, making Barbie look up at the black building with green windows. It didn’t look all that welcoming.
“Oh, so you’re a designer!” Kurt smiled at her, remembering the fashions that he used to create in his younger days. “So you must know Maggie’s.”
Kurt looked on in confusion as the two women started laughing hysterically, he didn’t know just saying “Maggie’s” was so funny. Janine had to hold onto the building as she laughed and Celine was bent over with her hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breath. They stopped laughing just as quickly as they had started, both now with plain faces. “What’s so funny?”
“Celine ruined Maggie’s!” Janine said, looking at Celine who had a bitchy smirk on her face. Janine was laughing again but not as hard this time, it was a quick one.
“Oh Janine, you flatter me.” Celine blushed. “But it’s true. She couldn’t keep up with my... genius. If you don’t believe me, go see for yourself. Go on but I know you’ll be back.” Celine pointed to the pink fashion house just across the road with big letters saying “Maggie’s” on the front. “Come Janine.” Celine called her assistant and walked inside but Janine stayed outside, poking Amber and calling her cute until Celine got angry and shouted for her again.

Kurt crossed the road to Maggie’s, he looked around outside and smiled down at Amber. “Celine doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Aunt Maggie would’ve said something to me if her business had gone own the pan.” Amber meowed in response, agreeing with him it sounded like. Kurt walked inside and let Amber out, looking around to see the store almost empty. There were empty clothes racks and empty mannequins and there were no clothes or customers. He called for his Aunt but she didn’t call back or some out, so he called again. While he called, he continued looking around. The walls were tall and purple with arches for doors, the staircase which lead up to the workshop was so pretty. It was metal and it had a vine design on it with roses in between. The floors were oak but when Kurt was last there, there was a purple and pink strip of carpet along the middle of the floor.
“Hello?!” Kurt shouted much louder.
“Kurt!” A woman came speeding out on a skateboard, surprising Kurt and making him frown in confusion. “Aunt Maggie?”
“Check me out, Kurt! I’m on a roll.” Aunt Maggie laughed as she skated around the room. Aunt Maggie had a cat of her own; he was mixes of both dark and light brown and was sat on a pile of boxes whilst licking his paws. He jumped down once he saw Amber and they started chasing each other, making Aunt Maggie lose her footing and not seeing the girl come down the stairs with fabrics in her hands. Kurt ran to try and help them when all three of them collided. Fabric as everywhere and Kurt, the girl and Aunt Maggie were on the floor and laughing.

Kurt helped his Aunt to her feet who seemed fine. His Aunt had brown hair with grey streaks in it and was very stylish, but not at this current moment. Right now, she was supporting a grey tracksuit.
“Oh, I knew we’d have so much fun with you here.” Aunt Maggie laughed. “Oh that reminds me! Tina, this is my nephew, Kurt. I told you about him. There is never a dull moment when he’s around, he’s so fun and charming. Kurt, this is Tina.”
“Nice to meet you, Kurt.” Tina said in her French accent. Only Kurt and Aunt Maggie seemed to be the only ones with an American accent which Kurt understood. Tina was Asian though and had long dark hair but was very pretty.
“You too, Tina.” Kurt smiled and shook her hand, just like he always did with new people. But he couldn’t help but look back at the skateboard. “So, what’s with the hot new pink skateboard?”
“These? Oh, they’re my new hobby. I didn’t want to tell you over the phone but I am closing up shop and moving to the country!” Aunt Maggie clapped her hands together as she spoke but Kurt could tell that she wasn’t fully into the idea.
“So Celine was right.” Kurt sighed.
“Celine? Oh! No, she has never, ever been right. She steals other people’s designs and passes them off as her own. All the money she makes, she uses promoting herself so all the press loves her and they pay no attention to anyone else. ” Tina glared at the store over the road before putting her hands on her hips and making an angry sound.
“Oh they pay attention to me alright; they waste no time in telling me how dated and washed up I am.” Aunt Maggie said, skating around the last design in the very corner of the room. It was a gorgeous black ball gown, flared with a halter neck and a pink ribbon around the waist. It was so pretty, how could the people hate this?
“No. I’ve seen your latest lines. They’re amazing!” Kurt shouted in frustration.
“Not according to the people.” Aunt Maggie sighed, playing with the material on the dress. “So I ask, if your audience doesn’t like what you do, does it make sense to keep doing it?”
That question hit Kurt, he had asked himself that question about his acting and movie making. But she was right, it doesn’t make sense to do something that your audience doesn’t like. Only one word came out of Kurt’s lips and that was “No.”
“Exactly!” Aunt Maggie said, skating back to Kurt. “See, Tina? I told you Kurt would understand. We think alike, Kurt. Always have.”
“Let’s help you pack.” Kurt smiled.
“Okay! You and Tina get the studio upstairs and I’ll do the office, and we’ll have no problem getting out of here by Friday.”
