Kurt woke up late that next morning, he was greeted by the arms of his husband wrapped tightly around his waist.
Kurt groaned since he had developed a headache from all the crying he did last night, but surely he was aloud to cry.
His father had died, something you would normally get upset about. Kurt started doing what he did with a lot of bad stuff that came in to his life, pushing it away. Of course he understood what was going on but in all honesty he didn’t want to think about it.
He pulled gently out of Blaine’s arms, and walked out the bedroom and went downstairs.
He walked past the living room seeing Finn and Rachel close together on the couch, when he walked in the kitchen, he saw Carole. Who was sitting at the kitchen table, staring into her cup of coffee.
She didn’t seem to notice him straight away, it wasn’t until Kurt had got out some paracetamol out the top cupboard and a glass then started filling it with water.
He took the tablets and washed then down with water, all while Carole was staring at him but not speaking a word.
After he put the glass in the sink, he went to sit next to her. They stayed in silence for a couple of awkward minutes.
Carole finally spoke.
“D…does Ella and Jason know?” she asked.
Oh crap, Blaine hadn’t told Ella much last night, meaning she was going to be asking many questions.
Kurt shock his head “No, well not much anyway” he told her. He could see the bags under Carole’s eyes, she mustn’t of slept well that night. Well, he couldn’t blame her.
“I’m sorry you had to go through this on your own” Kurt said, reaching his hand over to take hers in to his.
“Kurt, you have nothing to be sorry about. Sure it was a horrible thing to watch” She took a shaky breathe in then continued “but that’s life im afraid. Trust me sweetie im fine” she said.
Kurt really admired her, she had gone through watching all that horrible stuff alone, and now she was trying to comfort him. He’s happy that his dad and Finn’s mom did get together and married, not having a mom around was hard for him growing up. But since Carole came in to his life, this had started to look up.
Kurt left her in the kitchen, since Carole told him to get some more sleep and that she had to get to work. Kurt was completely against her going to work after all this but she told him that it was the only place that she could clear her mind, she left soon after.
Kurt went back to sleep, snuggling close up to Blaine; who was still asleep but wrapped his arm around Kurt’s waist, holding him closely.

“Baba?…Baba?…Baba?” Ella said over and over again while shaking Blaine’s bare shoulders, since he only had his pyjama bottoms on that night.
Blaine stirred in his sleep then opened his eyes, seeing the small girl on the bed. He sat up and Ella went to sit in his lap.
“What can I do for you El?” he asked, his voice thick from falling asleep crying.
“You didn’t really explain anything to me” she said her voice shaking a bit “But…but granddad isn’t here and when I asked Jason he told me to stop being insensitive and start thinking about what we lost. What did he mean by that Baba?” she asked, her hazel eyes connecting with Blaine’s.
“Well…umm, you se the thing is El…” Blaine was struggling really bad here. Thank all that is holy that at that minute Kurt decided to wake up.
When he turned and saw Ella sitting in Blaine’s lap, he knew it was now or never telling her.
Kurt sat up, Ella saw him and moved over to him, smiling at him. “Morning daddy, Baba was just about to tell me why we’re here” she smiled sweetly, this was gonna be hard.
“I know sweetie, I heard” Kurt said smiling gently back at her.
Ella sat there waiting.
“Well, you know how we told you that granddad had gone to sleep” Blaine started out. Ella nodded at the old information she already knew.
“That wasn’t 100% true, you see your granddad once had something called a heart attack when your daddy was in high school and he went in to something called a coma. Were you sleep and don’t wake up until your body wants too” Blaine explained at best he could.
Ella nodded understanding.
“Well he had another one the other day” Kurt told her, sweeping her fridge out the way of her eyes.
“But this time he didn’t go in to a coma” Blaine said, Ella was really confused.
“This time he…he passed away” Blaine said looking at the six year old.
Ella’s mind was normally full of things to think about, she was imaginative like that. But this time her mind just went blank, her granddad had died and she wasn’t going to see him again?
Tears started to fill Ella’s eyes, and she wrapped her arms around her daddy and rested her head on his chest. Kurt held her close and feeling like crying again.
“Shh…Ella its ok, we’re gonna be ok, trust us” Kurt said kissing the top of her head even though tears were falling again from his eyes.
Blaine came closer to them and wrapped on arm around Ella and the around Kurt, it was a awkward angle but at the moment he really didn’t care.
Kurt and Blaine were trying to calm her, until they think she cried herself to sleep.
They looked at each other with sympathetic looks on their faces. Kurt sniffed “I…”He cleared his throat “Im gonna go check on the boys” he said gently placing the sleeping girl in Blaine’s arms.
When Kurt was gone, Blaine laid back down in the bed and had Ella snuggling in to his side as he wrapped his arm around her.
He felt so bad, he looked down at the little girl in his arms. Her eyes were red from crying and every once in a while she sniffed since her nose was now running.
Blaine ran his fingers through her hair gently with his free hand.
When Kurt returned he brought the two boys with him, Blaine looked at him a bit confused in why he would want them in here if Ella was asleep.
Kurt saw the confusion on Blaine’s face “I thought that these two are so happy then maybe they’ll life our spirits” he said placing Tyler on the bed, who then was half crawling half dragging himself up Blaine’s leg and then rested on his chest.
Blaine smiled at the boy and leaned forward slowly and kissed the top of his head.
“Just seeing them is good enough for me” Blaine said smiling and so did Kurt as he settled under the cover with Logan on his lap.
With the two boys knowing nothing about what was going on through out the house; and what was the point telling them they only meet Burt once and they wouldn’t understand anyway. But they were their happy cheerful self’s and did make Kurt and Blaine smile at what ever silly thing they did.
After a hour or so Ella woke up, she saw Tyler (because of the angle she had been sleeping at) reached forward and ruffled his hair gently then turned over and did the same for Logan.
“You ok El?” Blaine asked. Ella nodded slightly “Yes, I’m still sad but it will pass, right?” she asked. Both Kurt and Blaine nodded and smiled “Yeah it will, we wont be sad for long and then we will remember the good times we had with Granddad” Kurt said to the little girl who smiled at that thought.

Once they had got out of bed and ate something, they got messages of sympathy and everyone saying how sorry they were; which Kurt really didn’t want to hear at the minute, since it wasn’t their fault. They were now discussing funeral plans, which was very depressing.
While the couple, Finn, Rachel and Carole (who had returned home not so long ago) sat in the kitchen, the four children were playing in the living room.
That was until Ella came in, she saw all the adults talking, so cleared her little throat and got all of their attention.
“I have a idea” she said.
“Go on sweetie” Rachel said to her niece.
Ella smiled and told them her plan.

Later that afternoon, the whole Anderson and Hudson households were standing in the garden, with Ella taking charge.
She handed everyone a red balloon.
“Granddad may not be on earth with us, but he’s out there watching over us, well that’s what daddy says” she smiled at Kurt, who smiled back proud of her “which means he can see the balloons.
“Everyone has to say one good memory of Granddad and then realise their balloon, Jason you can start” she smiled at him.
“My memory is when Granddad taught me to ride my bike, since dad was away for work” he smiled at the balloon and let it go.
Tyler and Logan even had one each, of course they didn’t say anything but Kurt and Blaine were holding the boys balloons with them and let them go when it was their turns.
“Gotta be the one were Burt told Finn to work at the shop late and I went to visit him, I fell asleep in the office and as simple as it was Burt helped me on the couch in there and gave me a blanket” Rachel said watching the balloon go.
Next was Finn “My memory was when me and Burt connected for the first time over basketball and I really thought of him as my dad” he let go of the balloon.
Then Carole “Mine’s of course marrying him” Carole said with a tear in her eye “I love you so much Burt” she let go off it.
Blaine stepped forward “Mine is probably when he said yes when I asked if I could propose to Kurt” He turned his head and smiled at Kurt, who smiled back, Blaine let the balloon go.
Kurt then went “I cant pick one” he said “every moment with my dad was a memory” me smiled at the cheesiness of it then whispered “Im gonna miss you so much dad” then let it go.
Ella went last she stood there for a moment and had to think.
“My memory’s when Granddad took me shopping once, we went to a dress shop and said I could pick which ever I wanted, when I did and I tried it on, he said I was the prettiest girl he’d ever seen” Ella said and a few tears fell and ran down her cheeks, she gripped tightly to the balloon and whispered to it; like it was a message going straight to him.
“I love you Granddad, I always will” and she let it go then turned around and ran into her daddy’s arms and sobbed in to his chest, luckily Rachel was now holding Tyler, who Kurt had been holding before.
Ella didn’t want to let go of her daddy or if she could hug then both, her Baba either. She never wanted to lose them and wanted to stay their little girl forever, showing them how much she loved them everyday.
She was going to miss her Granddad so much, but she would never forget him.
Never.
