Chapter 16:
The officer continued to talk with them through the details, explaining what Blaine would need to prepared, and the points he should make in his allegation. Once the police officer left, Blaine smiled at Kurt and went to snuggle with him on the sofa, but Kurt wasn't hugging back. He looked up at Kurt's face, and he couldn't quite read it, but he was looking very stern. He looked around the room, and saw the same expression on Cooper, Carole and Burt's faces. He quickly sat up and gave them all a questioning look.
Kurt was the one to break the silence. "What the hell, Blaine?!" He said, a little too loudly.
What...?" Blaine shrugged, slowly sinking into the sofa, as if he was shielding himself from the blast he knew was coming.
"Blaine! You know what! How could you? They tried to kill you Blaine? Did you just forget that or something?"
"Of course I didn't forget the fact that my PARENTS tried to take my life, Kurt! I'm not stupid!"
"Ohhh, so having memory issues is stupid is it?"
"Kurt, you know that's not what I meant, I just don't see why you're getting down on me for this! I just want closure. I want to be able to walk into that court, look them in the eye and watch them get convicted. I want them to see me, in there, holding your hand as they go to prison for however long, I want to stand up and make my statement against them, because I want them convicted. I want them to know that they can't touch us, or what we have."
"Prom." Kurt whispered. "Junior prom. I'd forgotten that until now...what the fuck was I thinking, wearing a kilt? Honestly some of my outfits..."
Blaine's eyes lit up and he let out a laugh. He took Kurt's hand in his and looked him in the eye. "You looked amazing, you are amazing. Now please, just let me do this, you don't have to come but-"
"If you're there I'm there." Before Blaine could say anything against it, Kurt kissed him, almost as if he was sealing deal. It was only when Blaine went to deepen the kiss, did Burt grunt and they suddenly realised they were in a room full of people.
Blaine pulled away awkwardly avoiding everyone's eyes.
"As touching as that was, are you sure about this Blaine? You don't have to do anything you don't want to." Cooper said, putting a hand on Blaine's shoulder.
"It's fine, Coop, I want too. It's not for another month and a bit. We all have our demons, and there comes a time when we all have to face them. This is my time, and I'm fine with that."
Blaine felt's Kurt hand wrap around his and squeeze it. He gave Kurt a small smile and turned back around to face his brother.
"They hurt us, Coop. They tried to break us up, they tried to tear us down, and they tried to kill us. I want this so badly, I need the closure, I need to see them loose, please say you'll support me."
"Blaine, I think I speak for everyone, when I say, no matter what happens, everyone in this room has your back. We all love and accept you, and if you need to do this, then go ahead and we'll be behind you every step of the way." Cooper said with a smile, as everyone in the room nodded in approval.
"Thank you." Blaine said contently, "I love you guys so much."
"Aww, come ‘ere." Burt exclaimed, as Carole and Burt wrapped their arms around him, Cooper and Kurt squeezed in to the hug too.
"We love you too, both of you." Carole whispered. Cooper coughed abruptly. "And you, Coop. We love you too."
-
Four days later had Kurt and Blaine sitting on a plane, leaving Ohio. Kurt was trying desperately to keep awake, but for some reason, he was completely exhausted. He'd slept fine all week, but he just could not physically keep his eyes open. In addition, he wasn't exactly making the most sense.
"OHWHY OH WHY OH WHY OH, WHY ARE WE LEAVING OHIO?" Kurt sang loudly to Blaine with his eyes half closed.
"Because we live in.." Blaine began.
"NEW YORK NEW YOORRRKKK. I WANNA WAKE UP IN THE CITY THAT DOESN'T SLEEEP!"
"Honey, you have to be quiet. We're on an aeroplane and I thought you were tired?"
"I am, but I've got the music in me Blaine, I can't control it."
"Okay, love. But try to tone down the noise..."
"Anything for my Blaineychums."
Blaine cringed at the nickname, and noticed he was getting a lot of either confused, or just pissed off looks from people around him. They were, after all still in Ohio.
"Blaineeeey. Blaineeeeey. Blaineeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!"
"Yes, love?"
"If you were in Harry Potter, which house would you want to be?"
"Well, on Pottermore, I'm a gryffindoor."
"THEN WHY DID YOU LET ME SLYTHERIN!"
Blaine blushed a bright fuchsia, wondering why he'd done this in the first place. Kurt was not just going to sleep, like he'd planned.
"I like flying in a plane, Blaine. I can sit down. Pigs can fly Blaine, so can llamas. I like llamas, llamas are fun and...nmph. I'm tired. BLAINEEEE! Why am I tired?" Kurt whined, snuggling against Blaine in the seat next to him.
Blaine suppressed his laughter. "Just go to sleep, I'll wake you up if we fly past any pigs or llamas." Blaine kissed him on the head softly, feeling Kurt relax into him.
"Or penguins, or goats, or cheetahs, or sheep, or wombats, or rabbits, or flamingo, or giraffes, oe hippos or..." Kurt's voice slowly faded away as he fell into a very deep sleep. Blaine pulled the earplugs out of his pocket, and buried them in Kurt's ears.
Kurt had perfect timing to fall asleep, because the flight attendant announced where the aeroplane was headed, and that would've ruined everything. Blaine had done a brilliant job of hiding it, and he was planning on keeping it hidden.
He looked out of the window and for the first time since the encounter with his parents, he really let his mind wander. However, he didn't look back on his time in Ohio with any regrets, obviously he wasn't overjoyed at the fact he still had an arm in a sling and bandages wrapping his rib cage, but in his mind, it was worth it. His parents were going to get what they deserved, they had found out everything they needed to about Kurt's attack, and really, it had brought him closer to Kurt and Kurt's parents. So in a way, he couldn't be happier with how the trip went.
The aeroplane slowly lifted from the ground and he relaxed back in his seat, smiling down at the love of his life. He looked angelic when he slept, and it was moments like these when Blaine would remember just how truly lucky he was to be able to call Kurt his, to be able to hug him, to kiss him, and to love him. He felt truly blessed, that the man sleeping snuggled against his good arm would be there forever. He had had a taste of what it was like to be separated from Kurt, and it was safe to say he was never going to let that happen again.
A few hours later, and the aeroplane was suspended above the deep blue ocean, Kurt was still blissfully asleep against Blaine and Blaine was checking almost every minute to make sure he didn't wake up and see the view, just to be sure, Blaine slipped one of the complimentary sleep masks over Kurt's closed eyes, and was thrilled that Kurt didn't even react.
"I love you." He whispered into Kurt's hair, even though he knew Kurt wouldn't hear through the earplugs. Once he was satisfied that Kurt was completely out of it, Blaine let himself fall asleep for the many hours ahead, but only after plugging in his headphones so he, and only he, would hear an alarm 1 hour before they land, and precisely 50 minutes until Kurt would wake up.
As intended, Blaine was woken form his sleep by a ringing in his ears. He sat up and took his headphone's out. Kurt was still asleep, but he took the earplugs and blindfold off, so he wasn't blind or deaf when he woke up.
50 minutes later, Kurt began to stir in his chair. Blaine smiled to himself as Kurt rubbed the sleep from his eyes in the most adorable way, ever. "Mm, how long was I out."
8 and a half hours.
"Not long, an hour? We land in 10 minutes-ish."
"Okay, sorry I abandoned you the whole flight, I don't know what got into me, I was exhausted."
I could have a good bet at why that was.
"It's okay. It's been a long week, maybe there was just...something in the water?" Blaine smirked to himself.
"Why are you pulling a Cheshire Cat face?"
"Oh, er..."
:Ladies and Gentleman, the flight from Ohio, America to Paris, France will be landing shortly, please put your seatbelts on:
Kurt's mouth dropped in shock as Blaine wiggled his triangular eyebrows, grinning broadly as he held their Disneyland tickets in his hand.
"You didn't think I was selling them did you? I can't not go to Disneyland when I have tickets!"
"Blaine! That's like and 8 hour flight, you said I only slept for an hour. How did you?"
"I may have used a light sleeping drug in your water this morning..."
"You drugged me to take me to Disneyland?! Blaine, you're crazy!"
"Crazy about you..."
"You goober." Kurt sighed as he closed the distance between them with a breathtaking kiss.
