Blaine has been freaking out ever since Santana called him. He knew she was going to do something but what? He knew that Santana was never tactful and that at times, she was so blunt that it was crude. But Santana had a good head on her shoulders. Blaine hoped that Santana might talk Kurt into speaking to him but he didn't know what to expect from the Latina. So Blaine just sat in his room, trying to take his mind off of Kurt and how he hasn't talked to him since he got back from New York weeks ago. He sighed and flopped down on his bed. Should Blaine just give up now? Should he just accept the fact that he would never love Kurt again and that he fucked up his chances? Everything was rattling around in his head that when he first heard the music, he didn't think twice about it.
But then he realized it was coming from outside and ran to his window. He couldn't believe what he seeing. He stood there in shock for a moment before grabbing his coat and running downstairs, not caring how he looked. He flung the front door open and saw Kurt standing there, in a dark, knee-length peacoat with iPod speakers in his hand. The beginning of Come What May reprise filled the air between them.
"Never knew I could feel like this.
Like I've never seen the sky before.
Want to vanish inside your kiss.
Every day, I'm loving you more and more
Listen to my heart. Can you hear it sing?
Come back to me, and forgive everything.
Seasons may change, winter to spring
I love you 'til the end of time."
Kurt was breathless after he sang to Blaine. He ran onto a plane to get here after Santana talked to him. Kurt couldn't wait a moment longer. He needed Blaine to know how he felt and just talking about it over the phone wouldn't be enough. Kurt needed to see Blaine and know exactly how he felt about all of this. He waited for a few tortuous seconds after he sang, wondering what Blaine would do exactly.
Blaine was speechless. Kurt was standing in front of him, singing along to the song. Kurt was basically giving his heart to Blaine, trusting him again. Blaine felt giddy and lightheaded and scared and worried all at the same time. He was basically a tempest of emotions. But he knew what he had to do.
"Come what may.
Come what may.
Come what may.
Come what may."
Nothing could describe the wonderful feeling of relief that ran through his veins when Blaine started singing. Kurt felt tears welling up in his eyes as Blaine sang to him, taking a step closer and closer until they were inches away.
"I will love you.
I will love you.
Until my dying day.
Dying day."
Blaine and Kurt stood inches away from each other, singing in the frosty, cold air. Kurt felt his heart beating so fast and Blaine was so close to him. Blaine couldn't believe that this was happening. The man of his dreams, his soulmate was right in front of him, giving him another shot to love him again. Kurt and Blaine both promised at that exact moment to never let the other go ever again.
"Come what may.
Come what may.
Come what may."
The music suddenly stopped but the boys didn't stop singing.
"I will love you
Until my dying day."
Kurt and Blaine looked at each other for a moment. Everything was suspended in the air and someone had to make the move. They were at a fork in the road and anything that happened next would change everything forever. It was Kurt who took the chance. He searched in Blaine's eyes for a moment before he leaned in close, giving the chance for Blaine to pull away if he wanted to.
Then he kissed Blaine. It was a perfect kiss. It was sweet and full of so many meanings, answers and promises. But most of all, it was full of love. Kurt pulled away for a second, eyes closed to remember that sensation. When he opened them, Blaine was looking at him, his brown eyes filled with hope, joy and an overwhelming sense of love.
"Kurt?" Blaine whispered, his breath hitting Kurt's lips.
"Yes?" Kurt whispered back, just staring at Blaine.
"Would you like to come inside and have a cup of cocoa?" Kurt smiled and took Blaine's hand. "I would love to." Blaine smiled goofily and led Kurt back into the house, where they stayed for the rest of the day, talking and getting to know each other again.
