4 glorious years later.
Kurt looked at himself in the mirror and felt a complete rush of joy and nervous energy run through him. He fixed his bowtie for the last time before examining each inch of himself in the mirror. He was wearing a fitted white suit and a white bowtie to pull everything together. Kurt thought he looked perfect and he tried to relax his body but he just couldn't. Everything seemed too unreal and everything around him seemed HD, as if he was trying to remember everything with perfect precision. His father came into the room, wearing a black suit and his tie crooked.
"Come on, kid. It's show time." Kurt ran over to his father and gave him a hug before pulling back and fixing his tie.
"I'm nervous, Dad." Kurt whispered. Burt smiled and patted his son on the shoulder.
"I was too when I was going to marry your mom." Burt said, smiling. "But everything is going to be fine, Kurt. You and Blaine, you guys were meant for each other."
Kurt smiled and said, "I wish Mom was here."
Burt rubbed Kurt's shoulder and said, "She's always looking over you, Kurt. She's always here." Kurt nodded and took a deep breath to compose himself.
"Okay, let's do this." Burt took Kurt's arm and they walked out.
Blaine was standing in front of everyone, Cooper at his side. Cooper had demanded to be best man since he was Blaine's brother and Blaine let him. Blaine was grateful to have his brother by his side because Blaine was antsy and nervous.
"Coop, I'm nervous." Blaine whispered. Cooper turned and looked at his little brother. His usually cool demeanor was barely there with the nervous energy rolling off of him in waves and his eyes darting everywhere.
"Blaine, relax. Nothing is going to go wrong. This is perfect. You and Kurt spent forever picking out everything. I mean, you guys even took two weeks to find the perfect napkins!"
"Well, if everything goes right, this should be our only wedding and I just wanted to be perfect." Blaine argued.
"And everything will go right, squirt." Blaine's eyes narrowed at the nickname but let it slide.
Blaine nodded and said, "You're right." Cooper smiled as he watched his brother get back his cool demeanor and felt a balloon of happiness rise in him. His little brother was getting married.
Blaine relaxed a little after talking to his brother but he felt the nervous energy come back full force when the wedding march started playing. Blaine couldn't help but think about Mr. Schuester's wedding and how Miss Pillsbury ran out on him. Now, Blaine knew that Kurt would never do that since Kurt loves Blaine and was excited as the wedding as Blaine was and also because Kurt spent hours and hours on finding the perfect outfit and he wouldn't want it to go to waste. But Blaine still couldn't shake the feeling. Once the doors of the church opened to show Kurt walking down with Burt, Blaine felt his breath being taken away from him. Kurt looked positively radiant and beautiful. Kurt has never looked so perfect in his whole life.
Kurt looked at everyone in their pews as he walked down the aisle. Everyone was there. The whole Glee club, friends Kurt made in NYADA, Will and Emma Schuester, and all his family. Everything was perfect. Then Kurt let his eyes drift to Blaine. Blaine looked so adorable, standing in front of the Justice of the Peace, with his hands clasped in front of him and smiling at Kurt. Kurt felt his heart beat wildly and felt a sweet sensation in his veins. This is it. Kurt is getting married to the man of his dreams. Too soon, Kurt was in front of Blaine and Burt was handing him off to Blaine.
"Welcome to the family, kiddo." Blaine smiled and gave Burt's hand a shake as Burt walked back to the front pew with Carole.
"Hi." Blaine whispered, grinning.
"Hi." Kurt whispered back, taking Blaine's other hand and entwining their fingers together. The Justice of the Peace cleared her throat and started the ceremony.
"And now, the couple has decided to write their own vows." Blaine swallowed thickly and looked at Kurt.
Blaine took a deep breath and said, "Kurt, every moment I ever shared with you has been engraved in my head. You are unforgettable and so strong. You are such an inspiration to me and I am so grateful and glad that it was me that you stopped on that staircase. We had our share of ups and downs and some mistakes were worse than others but we made through it all. And if that's not enough proof that we should be together, then I'll start making reasons for the rest of our lives. I want to live with you for the rest of my life. I want to be with you when we're old together, talking about our first loves like in "The Notebook." I want to share every moment of my life with you. I want you to be the first person I go to when all of our dreams come true. I want to be there for you when you win your first Tony. I want to keep our tradition of Christmas duets going every year and I just want to be there with you for everything. Every little moment and every big moment. Whether it's just buying milk at the grocery store or sitting in the audience at your first lead role on Broadway, I want to be there for you. I meant it before and I mean it now, Kurt. You are the love of my life." Blaine was tearing up at the end of that. And Kurt felt the tears coming too.
But Kurt quickly wiped them away and said, "That was beautiful." Blaine nodded.
"Blaine Anderson, all my life, I felt alone. When I met you, I was a low point of my life. I felt so alone and I was so hurt but then you came along, with your dapper Warbler ways and your smooth voice." Kurt winked at Blaine. "And suddenly, I wasn't as alone as I thought as I was. In those months, before and when I transferred to Dalton, you became closer to me than anyone ever was. I was never afraid to be myself around you and you made me feel protected and helped me through so much. All my life, I dreamed about finding someone like you, someone who loves me as much as you love me and I did. I can't wait to start living our lives together. I can't wait to sing in the car with you and going out for coffee dates. I can't wait to come home to you every night and spend every moment with you. You made me feel happy and loved before and I know that you can keep on doing that for the rest of our lives. Our love is strong and it survived so much. I know that this is true love and I just love you so much, Blaine."
Kurt had a few tears run down his face so Blaine took Kurt's face in his hands and wiped them away as the crowd aww'ed in the background.
The Justice of the Peace smiled at the couple and said, "Anyone has objections for this lovely couple not to get married?" There was silence. "Then by the power vested in me, by the state of New York, I now pronounce you married."
Blaine grinned and then leaned forward to kiss Kurt sweetly on the lips. Kurt, although, caught him by surprise and dipped him.
"I love you." Kurt said, against Blaine's lips as they pulled apart.
Blaine laughed and said, "I love you too." Kurt set Blaine upright again and then took his hand as they walked down the aisle with Santana yelling, "I helped them get together! All of this is due to me! You all are so welcome!"
Blaine and Kurt stood in front of everyone on stage but they were oblivious to the people staring at them. All they could focus on was the person in front of them. "I will love you until my dying day." They sang as they swayed together in each other's arms. The song ended and everyone applauded but Kurt and Blaine were still lost in each other's eyes.
"This is the happiest moment of my life." Kurt whispered.
"It's mine too." Blaine whispered back. They walked off stage and sat back at the head table, whispering sweet words of love and promises about forever.
