"Did you hear about the new kid?" Mercedes whispered excitedly.
"You do realize" Kurt replied, "that there are approximately 100 or so freshman coming every single year, to this school that all technically qualify as 'new kids'?"
"We are not brain dead Lady Hummel." said Santana.
The three had been friends since sophomore year when they were in Glee club together. They made an odd combination. Mercedes Jones, with her bold fashion and sassy attitude. Santana Lopez, the bitchy, Latina. Kurt Hummel was a pale skinned boy with a high pitched voice. But they all had something in common, their amazing voices and love for music.
They had been enemies at first. Well, Mercedes and Kurt had been enemies with Santana when she first joined glee club with some fellow Cheerios to spy on them. But they had put that behind them and tried to never bring it up.
"But this one is in our year" Santana continued. "And if the rumors are correct he is one fine piece of ass."
"He is also standing right behind you" said a voice smoothly.
Kurt jumped startled by the voice. The voice in question was low. But it was scratchy as if they smoked a lot in fact; the voice was so close that Kurt could almost smell the cigarette smoke. This caused Kurt to shiver with disgust it also set him on edge. Kurt couldn't handle the mere smell of cigar smoke after his mother died of lung cancer when he was an infant. The smell reminded him of afternoon tea parties and the small concerts he used to give his parents. He remembered coming home one day in hopes of giving his parents another concert, they had just learned a new song in music class, but when he got home no one was there. There was no note like there usually would be if his parents had to suddenly take off to some unknown destination which, unfortunately, happened quite often. Little Kurt had run around the house looking for any sign of his parents but all he found was his mother's perfume bottle spilt on the rug of her bedroom...
Kurt shook himself out of the reverie now was not a time to break down crying.
The trio turned around to put a face to the mysterious new guy. Kurt was surprised to see his face. He had dark curly hair covering his head and stubble covered his chin. And his eyes, oh his eyes. They were caramel or hazel or brown or green, kind of a mix of every color imaginable. They were gorgeous. As for his outfit Kurt was not impressed. He was wearing a tattered leather jacket that was clearly much loved and pants so tight that they just couldn't be healthy.
Santana didn't seem quite so put off by this bad boy image as she immediately introduced herself.
"Santana Lopez. Latina. Lesbian. But I could change that just for you." she told him, batting her long lashes at him.
"Thanks for the offer but I don't play for your team." He replied. "Fortunately, I do play for your team." He drawled, his eyes scanning Kurt's body finally resting on his eyes. "People call me B but when they scream out my name in the night they prefer Blaine, and what would your name be angel face?"
"Kurt," Kurt replied curtly "but that is none of your business nor am I."
"On the contrary," he whispered slyly "I like to know the names of the people I take home with me."
"Honestly, I would rather walk on hot coals than associate myself with you. So it would be appreciated if you left and never spoke to me again!"
And with that Kurt turned around and walked away.
Unfortunately, this was not the last of Blaine. As they were both seniors they ended up in many of the same classes. Kurt was counting on Mercedes to sit with him to keep Blaine at bay but when third period came around Mercedes opted to sit with Tina, and Santana preferred to sit with her girlfriend Brittany. Which was probably for the best as Brittany wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, Kurt thought.
Kurt thought he would be spared, maybe Blaine didn't take chemistry. But then loud footsteps came from the hall way and a leather clad figure entered the class room. Blaine walked across the classroom, not caring how he was disturbing the lesson on chemical periodicity, and plopped down into the plastic chair next to Kurt's.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, angel face, but Celeste – you know the Cheerio, right – is hard to satisfy." Blaine murmured into Kurt's ear, so close that Kurt could feel his hot breath on his neck.
"No offense - well actually I do intend to offend you – but I was never waiting unless you count me waiting for you to drop off the face of the earth." Kurt replied with as much venom as he could muster.
"Well, aren't you a feisty one." Blaine said under his breath. A content smile graced his face. "I do like the chase." He winked at the other boy.
Kurt faced the front of the room and tried to focus on the lesson, he would not let Blaine get to him so easily. It was clear that neither of the boys were going down without a fight.
Comments
'"Kurt", Kurt replied curtly'- I laughed outright at that. It was cute. This was a really great chapter. I read so many stories where Kurt, who is supposed to be this snarky, self-confident person, immediiately turns into putty in Blaine's hands. I hope this isn't one of them, but I don't think it is because of the slow progress. Great job! Please update?
