Author's Notes: I lied. Two more updates after this. Yipee!

Kurt couldn't sleep.

More than that. He couldn't stay still.

Okay. More than that. He had become a tornado.

After several minutes of pacing the living room floor, he walked into the bedroom and got on the floor next to his bed without even thinking about what he was doing. He grabbed the flattened cardboard boxes stashed underneath that they had used when they moved into the apartment. He opened them up, moving frantically. The next thing he knew, he was packing all of Aidan's things away, completely on autopilot.

In fact, just to be spiteful, he didn't use any sort of organization system.

After however long, he realized something and accidentally dropped the ugly coffee mug he was holding, shattering it. Oops. He ignored it and ran into the bedroom to grab his phone, going through his contacts immediately.

As he was searching through the names, however, a thought struck him. Who was he going to call? It was... He checked the clock. Oh, shit, it was 4:19am. No one would be up at this hour.

After a moment, Kurt realized he wasn't thinking about just anyone. He was imaging Blaine. Blaine was probably fast asleep in his bed, curls running wild. The image made his stomach flutter.

But then he remembered what had happened.

Blaine had rejected him.

Just like that, his good feeling was gone. He didn't know when he had collapsed onto the edge of his bed, but that's where he was now. He replayed those few minutes in front of his apartment in his brain over and over again, as if on repeat. The lean in, the rejection, the awkward resigned goodnights. Over and over again. It was as if his mind was trying to kill him. All he kept seeing was the expression on Blaine's face. He couldn't quite make out what it was, exactly, but it certainly wasn't one he liked seeing there.

Trying to snap back into reality, Kurt picked up his phone again. He went into his messages and typed one out on one of the top names.

CALL ME THE MOMENT YOU'RE CONCIOUS.

He hit send and let out a sigh. He knew he should get some sleep. Or at least finish packing away Aidan's stuff. After all, he wanted him out of his life as soon as possible.

Instead, Kurt found himself meandering into his kitchen. He looked into the pantry, the fridge, and back to the pantry again. He decided to make something more time consuming than cereal, but less involved than an omelet. He grabbed the batter and other ingredients and started making some waffles.

As he whipped the batter, Kurt thought about breakfast food. For some reason, he always craved it when he felt bad. It didn't necessarily make him feel better, either; it was just that he always wanted it when he was upset. He supposed it was because he had a lot of breakfast food for the first year or so after his mom died, since that was about all Burt knew how to make that wasn't on a grill.

The waffle iron dinged, pulling him out of his reverie. He poured the batter in and let it cook. He stared at the three-quarters full bowl and contemplated what to do with it. The bad thing about waffles was that you always have to make a specific amount since there's an egg in it. He sighed as he stuck the rest in the fridge.

Kurt almost made coffee but thought better of it, hoping to get at least a few hours of sleep before the sun came up. Instead, he grabbed some orange juice and poured it into a glass, taking a sip.

By the time he was done with that, the waffles were ready. Kurt put them on the plate and absolutely smothered them with syrup, whipped cream, and cinnamon.

I think I'm allowed to binge eat whatever the hell I want today.

Kurt took a bite and moaned at how absolutely delicious it was. He sat at the couch and balanced the plate on his lap because this was going to be a 'fuck it' type of day.

He turned the tv on and it was left on one of those 24-hour movie channels. He recognized Julia Roberts immediately, smiling and laughing in a lavender dress. Kurt smiled as he sat back and ate his waffles, this movie making him really happy for some reason. He had never really liked the ending, but for some reason he felt content and satisfied and hopeful watching it.

It's the end of the movie, but it's not the end of her life.

Kurt gasped, almost choking on some waffle. This was My Best Friend's Wedding. Blaine's favorite movie. They had talked about it back in the hospital, back when they were first getting to know each other. Kurt thought back to those days and realized just how far they had come.

Before he knew it, he was sobbing.

Blaine had rejected him. Kurt had gone out on a limb, acted on something that felt right, and he had literally gotten walked away from.

God, he was humiliated. More than that, though, he was hurt. Without even realizing it, he had begun to really like Blaine.

For a long time, he had just brushed it off as some silly crush. He had been lonely and heartbroken and his doctor was hopelessly attractive. It also didn't hurt that he had a great personality. And sense of humor.

The more Kurt thought about it, the more he realized just how wonderful Blaine was. He was everything Kurt had hoped for in a man whenever he daydreamed as a teenager. He thought back to the night before at the bar when he first heard Blaine sing. Kurt wracked with even more sobs. Blaine was already basically perfect, and then he just goes off and does a beautiful, heart-wrenching personal arrangement. God, his voice.

Why didn't Kurt realize how wonderful Blaine was when he could have had him? That was what really hurt. He felt like—and maybe he was making this up—he had felt like Blaine had maybe possibly kind of liked him a little bit, too. But he was too wrapped up in Aidan and too blind to see what was right in front of him.

Kurt finished his food and set down the plate on the floor in front of him. He curled up in a ball and sniffled as he watched the credits roll for the movie. Why did everything have to suck so much?

With that thought, Kurt got up and headed back into the kitchen. This time he opened up the freezer and grabbed the emergency Ben & Jerry's. This definitely classified as an ice cream worthy emergency. He decided to forgo the bowl entirely and just grabbed a spoon to eat straight out of the carton. Because fuck everything, that's why.

He went back to sit at the couch and plopped down. He was about two spoonfuls in when recognized the movie.

Oh you have got to be shitting me.

The movie was on a loop.

Kurt let out a tiny frustrated wail. He seriously did not want to watch the entire movie.

So of course he watched the entire movie.

Tears were streaming down his face the entire time, even as he laughed through the funny parts. He was cracking up at the part with the lobsters, until he remembered that that was apparently Blaine's favorite part. Now he was thinking about Blaine again.

By the end of the movie, Kurt had finished the entire carton of ice cream, some brownies (which he had fully intended to drop off at work before his return), two cups of pudding, and all the candy hidden in the back of his pantry. What he really needed was some cheesecake. Maybe he'd call somewhere later and get it delivered...

His phone ringing interrupted that thought, which was probably for the best.

He answered it and tried his best not to sound like he was crying. "Hello?"

"Kurt! I got your text. What happened?" Rachel sounded totally concerned, and he knew she was probably not even out of bed. The sun had just begun to come up.

"I... Umm..." Kurt tried to think of where to start. "I think you should probably come over."

"Oh no."

"Uh huh."

"And the emergency ice cream?"

"Long gone. Along with anything else that could be categorized as junk food in my apartment."

"I'll be there in five. You need anything?"

Kurt looked around, assessing his situation and glancing at the small graveyard of fattening foods that had accumulated at his feet. "A counselor, probably. And maybe a personal trainer after that."

Rachel chuckled. "I'll be right over." The line went dead.

Kurt let out a shaky breath. He wanted to feel more presentable by the time Rachel got there, but his legs wouldn't move. He shut off the tv, which was playing the end credits again. He sat there for several minutes. After god-knows how long he heard a key at the door, followed by the door opening and shutting and Rachel's frantic footsteps.

The next thing Kurt knew, he had a lap full of Rachel, who was hugging him fiercely. They didn't move for a long time, which was quite alright with Kurt. He had thankfully stopped crying, though he still had wet trails along his face and probably puffy eyes. He didn't care.

"What happened?" Rachel asked, not pulling away from the hug.

"I..." Kurt glanced around the room, looking for some inspiration. "In the fridge. I'm going to need some waffles to be able to tell this story."

Rachel nodded and jumped up to make them before turning around to face Kurt. "They're vegan, right?"

"Of course not."

Rachel sighed, attempting to sound put out.

She made enough for the both of them.

When they were both seated with their whipped cream and syrup with waffles on the side, Kurt took a deep breath and recounted the entire story. He started with the stuff about Aidan, giving quotes here and there, making fun of some of the cheesy shit he had said, but ultimately remaining pretty detached. It was as if his mouth was speaking without any connection to his brain.

When he moved on to the parts about Blaine, his breath caught in his throat. He explained about the almost kiss, blinking back tears all the while. He talked about dinner and the walk and even that stupid movie this morning. At some point the tears had started up again, but thankfully he wasn't gasping too badly and could get the story out without taking long embarrassing pauses.

Rachel didn't say a word the whole time. She nodded at the right times and added little "hmm"s and "oh"s when appropriate, but stayed pretty much silent, soaking up every word Kurt said.

By the end of it, Kurt felt like he had just run a marathon. They sat there for a minute as he tried to breathe deeply to get his heart-rate to go down.

After a moment, Rachel cocked her head, looking at the almost empty plate in her lap. "Wanna hear something funny?"

Kurt stared at her. "Not particularly."

She smirked, looking up and making eye contact with him. "You told me about Aidan. But you cried about Blaine. I think that says a lot right there."

Kurt's eyes were glued open. He hadn't thought about that. "I..."

"Shh, honey it's okay," Rachel soothed, taking his hand and stroking it fondly. "This is a lot for anyone to process all in one day." She grabbed both their plates and the small mountain of trash and headed to the kitchen. "You just take your time. And if you need any help sorting it out, you just let me know."

"But—but I just—" Kurt stammered, unable to get his thoughts out. "But what do I do?"

Rachel smiled sadly from where she was rinsing off the dishes. "That's for you to decide. But you know what? You have time. So," she continued, coming back around to where Kurt sat, "you are going to have a gross day." She crouched down in front of Kurt and took his hands. "You are going to sit right here and watch some awful, mind-numbing television and eat the worst possible food you can find. You don't even have to shower. But by tomorrow," she continued as she stood up and gathered her belongings, "you have to be better. Gym. Shower. At least semi-healthy food. Okay?" She came back around to face Kurt, carrying a big bag and looking at him expectantly.

Kurt didn't know what to say. "Rachel, I... I don't know if I... I mean, tomorrow?"

Rachel laughed. "You can do it. You're Kurt Hummel. You can throw a better diva fit better than anyone I know. But you also have more poise and grace." She kissed him on top of his head and headed towards the door.

"Where are you going anyway?" Kurt called after her.

"To the gym!" she responded, already walking out the door. "Someone has to be able to kick your butt into shape tomorrow!"

Kurt groaned, fell back onto the pillows, and grabbed a handful of Swedish fish.
